Here's real results...I'll use PPG since it seems that's what counts for many here Defense 2016 PPG Ranked 18th 2017 PPG Ranked T-25th Offense 2016 PPG Ranked 17th 2017 PPG Ranked 31st For Adam the honeymoon is over, teams have enough game film to prevent him from faking he made JC and PM. As for the D decline, easy to confirm, VJ who now is the HC of the Donkies and on the hot seat 6 straight losses, was a terrible DC, but the worse unit on the D, was the LB coach, Burke, who now is the DC, how would anyone expect us to get better?
I learned that after Jimmy Johnson. Guys who retire don't want to commit to the life, even if they get an itch from time to time.
the odds are big when its Miami and you like the dolphins hahah, oh i agree in the next 20000000 games that will be called a safety every time, your own player cant stop your forward progress, only thing i can think of was maybe the ref took wakes push of the lineman as stopping the progress. Sometimes when the RB hits the line and they defense has pushed the line back and they are all in a big pile up they give them the forward progress, but i literally cant see how that's not a safety.
How do we constantly keep picking horrible freaking coaches all around and letting anyone who is succeeding go its just asinine to me that we cant find a good coach to soak up the sun in south beach.
I understand all your comments about the bad calls, but hey, this was a home game against a not really good Team!
Ajayi wasn't running plays as the coach drew them up, he wasn't blocking well on passing downs, and at the same time he was complaining that he needed more snaps/carries. So you play Adam Gase- you have that problem with a player and you leave him sitting at home in 2016, and then you let him ride the bench for a month to learn his lesson. And what happens? Lesson learned....he had a massive game on his first day back. But at the same time, he's still bouncing the ball outside far too often instead of hitting the holes. That's why he had three 200 yard days and about 5 games with nothing to talk about. But still, he always ran hard in the 4th quarter and closed games well, so Gase kept him on the field. We get to 2017 and it's the same stubborn Ajayi all over again....not hitting holes and now he doesn't feel the need to block. Cutler got leveled multiple times in the first month as a defender ran right by Ajayi's side. So you're Adam Gase....what do you do? Bench him for another month when your team is already in a tailspin? Say the heck with it and just let the guy get your QB killed? Or maybe you stop calling run plays completely...even though it was supposed to be our identity as an offense? There's no easy answer there but Gase had to do something to cut the cancer. I don't know if you've noticed but Williams has been FANTASTIC blocking for Cutler on passing plays....for example, he completely laid out a safety on a weak side blitz yesterday....put the guy flat on his back! We've never seen that kind of effort from Ajayi on passing downs. And meanwhile, we've had big gains in the run game every single week since Ajayi left....yesterday we were a few yards shy of a 100 yard day, and once again we had a big run called back with holding on Landry (I watched the play at least a half dozen times and couldn't find the hold). So again, what do you do as the head coach? How do you convince a locker room diva to do his job and support his teammates, and to run plays exactly as they're drawn up? That's the million dollar question Ajayi fans can't answer.
Wade was available, but we chose a guy that was one of the worse position coaches available, that's how come...
to play the devils advocate, that's when you bench him but i seriously didn't see him as a cancer there was/is so many issues with this team i seriously doubt Ajayi was the "reason" we sucked and lost and looked horrible there's a lot of leaking boards in this boat and plugging one hole really isn't helping us, i mean either way i dont think keeping Ajayi and this team intake would/could make a run at the SB.
HAHAH i was thinking this yesterday, besides a few good drives, we let Fitzy go off lol and Tampa who is probably 30-32nd team without their starting qb beat us there is literally no hope in NE and even though Denver is struggling with the dolphins trash in VJ they have a way better D than Tampa so im having a hard time finding confidence in any of the remaining games after we lost to Tampa.
If you’re gonna give Gase credit for firing up Ajayi, surely he could’ve coached him up, but instead he was scapegoated. I’m not buying any of your talking points either. Ajayi is a beast. You can pretend he was the problem all along but this team still sucks major ***.
Pretend? I'm not pretending that our rushing yards have increased, and I'm not pretending that Cutler/Moore has had better protection. Those are facts, my friend.
Nobody ever has a "plan" for a starting QB going down. Green Bay is evidence of that. It's a **** hand to be dealt.
Does anyone know when the concussion actually happened? I didn't watch much at all. If it happened early but wasn't detected till late, it could explain some of the bad play. Otherwise, if not, then it was Jay being Jay. He's good for some real assbombs every season.
I think the concussion was a false flag gase had to bench him he played horrible and instead of cutler getting benched again that was a way out to put Moore in lol because if they did miss the concussion and he still played miami or the nfl could be in for disciplinary action for not following protocal.
Lets address the idea of firing Gase: Can you imagine how Miami would appear to the rest of the league, if we fired Gase after going to the playoffs last season, and then your team is handicapped the way it was to begin the season. Do you think John Harbaugh would come and coach for an organization that did that? Second: If Harbaugh returned to the NFL, which by most accounts is not happening, he would likely chose either Chicago, or Indy...not Miami. Gase isnt even remotely close to being on any hot seat. Ross loves him , as does Marino. If your hoping for a new HC ....your going to be disappointed.
If it wasn't immediately evident then I don't think they would. The protocol would be violated if, once a concussion was suspected, we continued to let him play. Like the Flacco play a few weeks back was obvious. Some others are less so - like Wentz last night took a knee to the head going down on a sack but stayed on the field before he was checked out. It could be a false thing, but I don't really see Jay playing along with that. Say what you want about him, he wants to start, not sit in the locker room. Plus, Gase is already saying Jay won't lose the starting job.
Well thats all good but if gase told him look jay i gotta bench u im sure Jay was like i got a concussion hahah
And re-read your quote to my quote. I specifically asked what you would have done differently. Your response was that my talking points were pretend- even though they align with what coaches and the media have said, plus what we've seen on the field. You're trying to play both sides of the fence here to turn it into a Gase thing- yet you can't even understand or accept the basic facts of why he did what he did.
There was a play with less than a minute left where the pocket collapsed and Cutler ran for the line of scrimmage. The first guy there wrapped him up and as he was falling, a 2nd guy came in with a forearm and whacked him across the helmet while running full speed. From the replay you could tell it was intentional as well...the guy made a fist and braced for the impact with his arm. He easily could have avoided all contact in the same movement where he lowered his arm to deliver the boom. Cutler hit the ground and stayed there a good 6-8 seconds before moving, so it's possible that he was briefly knocked out (or just dizzy/confused as hell). I THINK it was the last offensive play of the game for Miami in the first half....but I'm not 100% positive. By the way, that's yet ANOTHER thing the refs missed- it was a flagrant foul and I'm sure the NFL will be sending a nice little fine for it in the coming days. That one may come with a Sunday or two off for the defender who landed the cheap shot.
Like I always say, I would’ve never even hired the guy in the first place. I wanted Vic Fangio. I would’ve never signed Tannehill. Moore isn’t that much of a drop off but he’s a hell of a lot cheaper. I most definitely wouldn’t have dumped a Pro Bowler for a low fourth round pick. You can’t just give me a ****ty situation that I would’ve never put myself in and then ask me what I’d do. If you’re asking what I’d have done about the running situation, I wouldn’t have scapegoated Ajayi and hired a cokehead OL coach.
You're still dancing around the conversation though- we did hire Gase, Tannehill, Moore, etc. And the only answer you're giving is that the franchise sucks because they didn't do what you wanted- that's not an answer.
At least we got a couple drafts from it but i would still stay away. What did the Redskins get from joe gibbs? Nothing... he used them to get more funding on his nascar team.. No gruden, cowher, romo, any other retired coach or player here.. that would just set us back even more.
Umm, three Super Bowl appearances and two Super Bowl wins? Not to mention the distinction of one of the winningest coaches of all time. While his second stint in Washington didn't go over as well, he took a struggling team to the playoffs twice and lost to the Seahawks twice in four years. I wouldn't call that a failure even if you did ignore his first tenure.
Its not over gase just said cutler was his #1 guy!!! This guys is more unbeleiavble after what Moore did in the second half he should have said we are lookin at all options to win games or somethin...this is crazy hes more of a moron as time goes on.
Okay, let’s play your game. Please tell me at which point of the franchise I’m supposed to have inherited the HC job and take responsibility for others decisions.
Just think if we a had a vision to trade tannehill in last years draft and do whatever it takes to move up to draft wentz instead of moving back for 2 average players.I am not saying we would be 9-1 but the future sure would look brighter than it does now.
this is the exact thinking this franchise has lacked. You think Ross ever asks for anything like that? They probably didn't even scout the qb's. Miami thinks they know it better than all 31 teams. Moreover, between Dion Jordan and Charles Harris, they have gotten nothing, so excuse me if I want a damn qb instead of these blown picks
This is why the pats have won the damm division what like 15 out the 16 years or something like that. The only team with a franchise qb. Have to draft one every year until we find one or its going to be the same old ****.
nothing else matters. You'd think Miami would get this after having Marino and now Brady in their same division
I guess this is an example of why you shouldn't title new threads with your opinion passed off as fact That being said, your thread title, should indeed be the facts here, but... it's not, which is... odd.
I thought I was pretty clear- I laid out what Gase did with Ajayi in 2016 and presented the problem leading up to when he was traded. I specifically asked if you don't trade him, then what do you do differently?
I personally would have benched him without trading him. Ajayi is a good RB, and I don't like it when talent is sent away like that with little compensation. Either modify the offense to take better advantage of his running style (a good OC could do that) or convince the player to get with the program using all the leverage you have as HC (a good HC could do that).
It's hard when we don't know what happened behind the scenes...it's possible he tried those things and Ajayi didn't listen. Or maybe those things were completely over his head and he blindly traded the guy. We just don't know either way.
