Hey everyone! I thought I would share with you my humorous speech from the Humorous Speech contest at the division level at my local Toastmasters. For people who do not know Toastmasters is an organization where people come together to work on their public speaking. Every year we have contests. This year I participated in the Humorous Speech Contest and I am very proud of this speech. I hope you enjoy it more than the judges did.
That was outstanding man. Very comfortable to watch as a viewer. Do you have to give a different speech at the next level?
You can give the same speech all the way through the district. For the International Speech Contest, the rules are a little different as that one goes to the world stage. You have to do a different speech at regionals and the finals. Humorous speech contest only goes up to District. Unfortunately I did not make it, however, I am very proud of my speech and I enjoy sharing it. Put a lot of work in it.
that’s rough. What’s the grand prize for if? As you should be. It’s good creative material, and delivered well. Kudos for your ability to stretch the fluffy bit for 7 minutes without losing the viewer. You ever do it at local comedy clubs on open mic nights? I can tell. Is that why you’re not as funny here, all the effort goes into your speeches?
The grand prize for being the World Champion of Public Speaking is the ability to sell the fact that you are the World Champion of Public Speaking. If you create a book and program you can go around to Toastmaster areas and make a a career. I was going to do an open mic if I won Division. Mostly to get in front of another crowd to practice.
Good Job! You were especially good at creating a connection with the audience through your eye contact and physical gestures. I bet it was fun to do. I have always enjoyed the process of creating a speech or presentation before a group.
This is my interntional contest speech from this year. My try at the world championship. This one I also made it to division. I got 2nd place. I was disappointed, but still happy how well I did.
