As i said he doesnt really fit here, what we run is different now. We cant afford the ball to stop at Wade, or for him not to run back on defense just to complain to refs. We also require shooting at that position now. He would have rode the bench behind Dion.

In the end after giving up 8 million, state taxes in illinois, our offer to wade was higher than chicagos. So yea its just ugly. Its best to sign him on a one day deal when he retires and retire his jersey.

Wade just needs to rest up all year and give some solid help to the #2's in the finals.

I hate the thought of Wade in a Cavs uniform, but I don't blame him at all. It's a bigger role on a championship contender, and he's repaying LeBron for coming to his team previously. I wanted him in Miami again for sentimental reasons (and I think he'll be back next year when LeBron leaves), but I said previously in this thread, it would have put the Heat in a strange position, and might have actually hampered what they want to do a bit. There are not a lot of minutes available at the 2 right now, and ideally I think they want to play with pace. Spo could have found a way to make it work, but now he won't have to. They can do what they want.

Wade must be the best friend in the world.

He's going to Cleveland despite LeBron screwing him over and costing him millions. He doesn't owe LeBron anything.

That being said, if losing in the Finals one last time is that important to him, then so be it.

You can make the argument about costing him money, but LeBron wanted to form the super team in Cleveland, and those guys said no. LeBron came to Miami where he took less money and helped Wade win 2 more rings. He's also playing with one of his best friends again, and while they still probably won't win a title (and seriously may not even get back to the championship), he's on a team that will contend. He'll also be given a starting role, whereas in Miami they would have had to create minutes for him to come off the bench.

He might start, but JR is going to get plenty of minutes, maybe even crunch time minutes because of his shooting.

Ultimately, Wade crapped on his legacy for what amounts to about $2 million bucks more than the Heat's offer. And now he's just another guy team hopping. He's Shaq on the Cavs and Celtics. Ultimately a non-difference maker that just ends up looking silly.

He may not regret leaving, but it was a colossal mistake by any objective measure

Barry Jackson was saying before that he actually cost himself money in the long run because of the buyout and the money Miami could have offered him next offseason compared to what Cleveland could offer, or what he'd get on the open market.

I agree somewhat about his legacy. Playing for one team your entire career makes a difference in how you're remembered. Does that mean he ruined it by any means? No. It's diminished, but he'll still be remembered for what he did on the Heat, and will still go down as one of the best 2 guards in history.

He didn't ruin his legacy but he certainly has diminished it a bit. And ultimately for nothing. Some wounded pride

Wade is an abject lesson in the axioms of "the grass isn't always greener" and "you can't go home again"

He seems to feel like it was worth it to go play for his hometown team for a year. Maybe he's just saying that, but I could see it being true.

Like I said, he may not regret it in the sense that playing for the Bulls was a dream but there is no question that it was an objective mistake.

The Bulls sucked and basically lied about their direction.

IMO he doesn’t think LeBron is the one that screwed him.

Remember Cleveland is sitting on that Brooklyn pick and both Kevin Love and Jae Crowder are very tradeable. They can get significantly better in time for IT to return from injury. If the deadline passes with nothing, then LeBron is definitely gone. I don't see Gilbert actually making a move though.

I saw that as well. Strange bit of news. We must've felt good enough about his health to sign him to 4/$52M. I would assume the staff is confident it's nothing chronic or urgent, but...yeah, weird.

Dunno why but none of this Dwyane Wade stuff bothers me that much. Too used to the NFL to be bothered?

In the NFL, it's all about the franchises basically stomping on players and yoking them to the maximum degree. They'd never let them take their helmets off so you could recognize their faces, if they had their way. Non-guaranteed contracts, kind of a joke of a players association, etc.

In the NBA the players have a lot more power and autonomy over what they're doing. Each star player is his own franchise. Wade is looking out for his franchise. He's given Miami plenty. I'm cool.

The Cavs first and second team combo is just filthy.

Their second team could beat the Knicks by DD.

Not a whole lot of shooting.

And you think Rose, Smith, Korver, Crowder, and Frye would beat the Knicks by double digits?

You just said "not a whole lot of shooting" then named Jr Smith and Kyle Korver. Crowder and Frye can actually shoot pretty good also, Rose is a get to the rim guy.

I challenge you to find me a better set of 2's.

And yes. I sadly think they could.

What's the moneyline that Beasley drops a joint in MSG in the 2nd quarter of game 5? Sounds about right for when he gets busted.

At least Noah is suspended 20 games so we don't have to watch his horrific shooting form.

Melo said deals with the Rockets and Cavs were agreed upon, but fell apart at the last minute. I'm curious what those deals looked like, and why they fell through.

I know the Knicks wanted Tristan Thompson in a Melo deal. Im thankful that didnt happen. It also shows the depth of the stupidity in the Knicks front office. Scott Perry has apparently learned little in 3 decades in the nba in his various roles. That would have been worse then Kanters deal. And Steve Mills....just sucks.

The NBA also announced new player resting rules effective this year and draft lottery form to prevent tanking starting in 2019. Still waiting for exact details. I'm in favor of the player roster rules being altered as it's annoying as hell anticipating a big game and the the stars get rested and it loses meaning. The lottery reform part I don't like it all as it prevents teams that need to get to the bottom from getting there. The league is not seeing the big picture that in the NBA, mediocrity is near certain death, likely in round 1 or 2 if the playoffs.

Interesting story on Willie Reed filing a $13.5M arbitration claim on his former agent, and how it relates to the recent FBI investigation into the NCAA basketball coaches and players. The part I found most interesting was:
It's probably best for the Heat because had they given him that deal, they probably don't end up with Olynyk. But it's interesting that they wanted to invest in him.

I think he's one of the best backup 5's in the league. AdebayOlynyk is a better snag IMO though. Babbitt was just too limited in his game outside of the 3 pointer.
