lol...Do you always whine this much? Personal? Please...

You're complaining about nothing. A grown man visited his daughter and friends during his time off of work. He then went back to work and, by all accounts, busted his *** and practiced like a beast the entire week leading up to the game. You don't even know why he missed the game, do you? And don't take that as an excuse because I'm just as pissed as you about the situation, but adding irrelevant things to the situation does nothing. His going to Pittsburgh is irrelevant. Whining about it is funny.

That's not true. Does what he had for dinner become relevant? What about the clothes he was wearing?

His visiting family and friends has no relevance to this situation. None.

You do make it personal sometimes. I just don't give a **** about it, but @Rock Sexton is right. IDK if you're drunk or what when you do it, but you do it.

Lawrence Olajuwan Timmons bailed on his team without notifying ANYBODY. I want him gone, but I defer to Adam Gase for that decision.

I don't know why, but I could watch that thing spinning for hours (well, okay, maybe minutes). I keep waiting for the troll to move closer and get zapped by a laser or something.

Back on conversation, we simply don't know what happened and there's no way to pass real judgement here. Was Timmons kid sick, injured, or portrayed as in danger? That would send any dad running for the airport. Did Timmons think that Gase wouldn't understand....or did he feel that there wasn't enough time to explain things? That would explain his actions. Did Timmons have a mental breakdown and just toss all common sense aside for an hour? We just don't know.

Without the facts though, it's impossible to judge the guy and say how bad his actions were. Since Gase is not talking, there is obviously a few wrinkles involved and they're protecting Timmons, so it's safe to assume that it's not just a guy ditching his team. There's definitely more to the story.

What's the mathematical formula for being the best Bridge Player in the US Region? I've been that. I think I was best in the Nation at one point and my father (A retired Professional Bridge Player, and many other awesome titles) and I are training to prepare to play together as partners in the NABC in San Diego this November. How good at math do I have be at that? Or the best Berserker in the World at Dark Age of Camelot (again) with the only perfect template ever created after a decade layoff in 3 months with ONE ARM (elbow surgery)? How good at math do I have to be for that?

And @cbrad AND @Fin D are BOTH wrong with their numbers. But there is so much more involved with it, that I don't feel like figuring out the precise #'s, not sure you even can. Yes @Fin D, it is a lower % when attempting to make 3 field goals in a row in one game from roughly the same yardage. No @cbrad, your #'s are wrong due to other variables you can not compute. You can't measure a person's internal drive, motivation, situation, health, perception, protection, fan noise, and many many other factors.

My numbers aren't wrong for the claim I made. Learn to read. I said "league average". We all know that's not a perfect predictor of what happens in a specific case. But it's probably the best you can do to compute a mathematical expectation given readily available data.

But, it's NOT the best. You want to know the absolute ONLY way to accurately predict ANYTHING in football? You watch every single player on every single play and then take ALL OF THAT INFORMATION, and then try to draw a HYPOTHESIS, with STILL very very very limited information. Because humans are fallible.

Stats mean very little, even large doses of them. You have to be there diagnosing every single snap to make a valid opinion on any play. Much less a whole game, stretch of games, season, seasons, CAREER. You have to be there to see how every 22 players on both sides the field played on every single snap, to make a valid argument. Otherwise, you're just another Armchair QB/GM/OWNER like all of us are, with opinions.

You can watch as many plays as you want. Human memory is first of all highly unreliable and second of all faulty inferences are far more likely without math. In general, the difference between "human eyeball" and "stats" is that you get far richer information using the "eyeball" approach, but the ability to make accurate inferences is far greater using math.

Which approach is better depends on the situation. You're far over-generalizing saying the ONLY way to accurately predict anything in football is to use the eyeball approach. First problem is that tons of people do that and end up disagreeing. So.. if the methodology isn't the problem (they're doing what you're suggesting) why the disagreement??

I'll give you a simple example of where stats are FAR better at accurately predicting things. Predict the mean and standard deviation of all rushing yards (for each carry) in 2017. I've looked at these stats for 2005 and 2015 and it's amazing that they hardly changed in 10 years. There is NO human that (without looking at those stats) would predict those as accurately.

In general, for things over a short timescale, like what happened on a play or during a game, the eyeball approach is better. But once you care about trends stats will be better.

That's because Bridge would be way too complicated for you @danmarino and @cbrad. You haven't mastered "The Art of Deception" chapter of the greatest Bridge book ever by Fred Karpin, Contract Bridge: The Play of the Cards".

The bidding is completely outdated (The book is from the early 1950's). But, it's the exact same 52 cards. The % NEVER EVER CHANGE.

Maybe @cbrad would be good at it. But, @danmarino, you just seem like a follower to me, with no real knowledge of anything really regarding the Miami Dolphins. You do seem to tag along with other peoples' posts sometimes (when it fits your agenda), nothing really new you bring to the table though.

Your inability at comprehension doesn't mean other people are ignorant, too. lol

As for the bridge crap...my mother-in-law, who frankly is nowhere near a genius and maybe under the country's mean IQ (J/K)...lol, is some kind of Grand-Gold-Diamond-Master-Wizard, or some ****, in bridge and has amassed something like 1 trillion points by playing in national tournaments all over the country. So, I'm not really impressed with your bridge prowess. lol

It's called a "Life Master", and it's a garbage title. Ask her how many major tournaments she won, or even placed in? There are your true "Masters" of the most complex card game on this planet by a wide margin.

She has 1st and 2nd place trophies all over her den from national tournaments. But hey, if you say they're crap, they must be crap.

However, I'd assume that any game where the average players age is "dust" it’s not very hard to compete in. lol
