I checked 4 or 5 of the other stories breaking this (ESPN, NFL, NBC, etc.) and none of them give any additional details other than saying he's suspended indefinitely. Not a good sign at all- I'm wondering if the delay was to research a breach of contract since almost 100% of his money is guaranteed? If he's suspended then we need to start knocking on doors immediately- can't play the season with only 4 linebackers. Edit- I found my own answer on NBC Sports- So this looks like a play to end ties with him completely. Very bad news.
Without all the facts and we will probably not get them ever or for some time, but it seems whatever excuse he gave wasn't either true or not enough to warrant a pass. Miami desperately needs him to play and the fact that they took this moves means something really negative happened. At this time I don't believe it was health-related could be a number of things that caused this. Already very thin on defense. Time to find some bodies in a trade ASAP!
The max they can suspend him is 4 games. He voided his guaranteed money so the can **** with him so he has no shot of getting that.
Maybe the end. But they may also just suspend him for a game. That's not a prediction, I'm just saying that we don't know what will happen yet. What you have quoted is just what the Dolphins can do now that Timmons has put the ball in their court. What they will so depends on the severity of what happened Saturday night / Sunday morning and we still don't really know the details of what happened between Timmons and his "baby mama". You may be right, but we are really still waiting to see.
Sure, it could go either way- he could be in practice tomorrow. But with the official suspension, Timmons gets the right to appeal with the NFLPA. If he doesn't (or if he does and the league rules against him), then he's in breach of contract and Miami can do whatever they want with the remaining contract. Since this is all hush-hush though, I can't see Timmons voluntarily going that route and having his dirty business aired in public. There is a good side to the Fins not saying what happened- I think it increases the chances that they want to still work with Timmons and get past this. The indefinite suspension was a legal move that had to happen to protect the team, so that was coming regardless. I don't see it as a sign that he's finished in Miami though- we still have no idea.
I wonder if it is a discipline thing, as we can afford to be without him for the Jets and probably Saints game too. Void the guaranteed money in his contract, sit him a couple more games, and then give him a chance to earn the money every week going forward? In the games we really need his talent at LB? Or they really want to get rid of him, and need to take these steps to get back the money? I guess we'll know soon. A trade seems like a desperation move though. Remember trading a second rounder for QB Jay Feely? Or a third rounder for HB Lamar Gordon? Desperation moves are often expensive. I'm not saying don't make some calls to see what's out there, but don't trade from a position of desperation.
He gone bruh. Time to forget about the idea of him playing in a regular season game for us. You don't burn bridges like he did.
if be had only called someone. the "circumstances" NEVER mattered. He breeached protocol. that cant happen...ever. Im pleased with Gase and the FO.
As I mentioned in the other thread - I don't think his head was really with the Dolphins considering he was at Steeler practice right before their first game and actually the joined them in their lockeroom on gameday beforehand. Total lack of respect for his new team and regret got the better of him.
Pounce and Timmons left for Pittsburgh the Friday before Irma hit Miami. Timmons went to see his kid and a few former teammates. Pouncy was also at the Steelers facility visiting his brother. Some people like to make a mountain out of a mole hill. There was nothing nefarious about him, or Pouncy for that matter, going to Pittsburgh on their weekend off of work. Lol
Yup. Dude hasn't even been with the Dolphins more than 6 months, not to mention hasn't even played a down of regular season football in a Miami uniform. It's a terrible look for him showing up to his old team's practice and in their locker room the day of a game. Especially considering he was our top FA acquisition. Then to follow it up by missing Dolphins practice/meeting this past weekend? Connect the dots here. Pouncey went to Pittsburgh too, but I'm not seeing it being reported in the same capacity as Timmons. Keep in mind it's his own brother he visited.
If I had to guess Id say they sit him for a game or two to make a point then let him play again. Its odd that more hasn't come out about what happened.
yes my sentiments exactly. I'm all for discipline and rules, however, talent trumps all. Hope Timmons can be humble and hungry and face his team and management and rectify this. Nothing wrong with humans communicating and forgiving. The world needs this more than anything
Forgiving is divine, to be sure. But can they trust this guy? The ONE time he had an opportunity to prove he was what we paid money for, he bolted. He went back to his boys in Pittsburgh. What happens if we meet them again in the playoffs? Where is head? I don't get to make the call, but I don't trust Lawrence Timmons any farther than I can throw him. IF the FO believes he's trustworthy, then I am sure they'll work something out after the suspension. Otherwise, he's a goner. Which would be more than fine by me.
Such an exaggeration. Guy has been in the league 11 years, a pro. He messed up. That is the exact issue in this country. You have to be on the straight and narrow. Anyone not think the stresses of Irma can crack someone, esp a new person to SFLA without their family, is fooling themselves. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Easy Dirty Laundry...Im asking the question. Thats all. The FO is going to decide if this guy is trustworthy. If they think he is, he'll be back. If hes not, theyll ship him outtaa here. I think hes mindwarped, but what do I know? The issue in this country (since you brought it up) IMO is snowflakes cant entertain thoughts they disagree with.
This move tells me the Dolphins don't think that this is a "personal matter" they was his agent described it. It looks more and more like me Timmons voluntarily broke some team rules with no apparent reason potentially beyond his control that could be given as acceptable for his behaviour. Therefore the punishment comes down from gase to show nobody is free from those two rules. He's being held accountable. If he comes back it will be when they deem he's been disciplined enough although they can only keep him out four games. After those four I guess it's up to the team whether he stays. Or goes. Looking more and more like mr Timmons doesn't need help from medical or mental health professionals, but he may need some help resurrecting his reputation and career. All signs pointing now to a guy not struggling with issues, but a guy who made a really bad decision. Although his agent of course wants us to believe otherwise. At this point I couldn't care less what they do with him Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I do think I would be pissed if I were Gase. So, you can make it to their practice, but you can't be here? yeah, I think I would be.
He "made it" to the Steelers practice a WEEK before the Dolphins game and practiced all week long with the team.
It all comes down to trust. He put himself in a situation to where the team does not trust him.If he can earn that back in the next few days they may be desperate enough to consider taking him back.I don't think he is worth the trouble but the coaches have to make that call.
You're right. It sends a fantastic message to your new team with whom you've built up no cache when you hang out in the locker room on game day of your old one. Coaches love that, I'm sure Gase was telling all Dolphins players to do that. He prolly told Suh - who spent his week off watching film - to get on a plane and reconnect with the Lions. For the life of me I'm having trouble finding where this is a common/accepted occurrence. It's one thing when you're a former/retired player like Calvin Johnson, etc. But it's in extremely poor taste when you're an active player.
He didn't practice, but he was there at their practice during his week off and then spent time in their locker room before the start of Week 1's game.
Using your free time to see some old friends that you've known for 11 (or maybe more years) because you're in town visiting your daughter isn't wrong. You keep ignoring the fact that Pouncy was there too. Are you mad at him, too?
I sometimes stop by an old Cath lab that I used to work at in a totally different hospital to see some old co-workers. In fact, I had some drinks with the Cath Lab manager a few weeks ago and it's something he and I do on a regular basis. I hope no one find out or else they may be mad. lol
Pouncey was hanging out in Pittsburgh with his twin brother for God sakes. He also is unquestionably committed to the Dolphins - not to mention wasn't there on Gameday in the Steeler locker room before their first game.
If Rock had called out Timmons for missing the game no one would have said a word and most would have agreed with him. Instead, he chose to whine about Timmons visiting some old friends on his day off! He may as well gotten butt hurt over what Timmons ate for dinner last Christmas. It has no bearing on the real issue at hand.
Are you jelly that you didn't get to hang out with Timmons' big, strong, half-naked friends? Is that the problem? If Timmons had been in the Pittsburgh locker room the Sunday of the Dolphins game I'd agree with you. However, he was OFF OF WORK, also visiting FAMILY, and decided to see some old friends/teammates too.
And the jackass responses continue ....... Is your name Timmons? Always taking disagreement over a benign subject to personal levels.
