    Are you kidding me?!

I thought it was 720p across all versions. I've got the PS3 version and a 1080p, and EA chooses to give me less features than the 360 version?

    The Microsoft favoritism is stunning.

Yeah I edited my post.

Also with the small screen I have it doesn't matter as 1080p only really shows itself on large screens (like 50").

Well its true and its not favoritism its called being lazy programmers. Maybe if they would actually work they could put out a great game and figure out the PS3 just like EVERY OTHER GAME DEVELOPER HAS.

Plus the fact that Madden 09 and NCAA 09 don't have trophies is inexcusable as they had plenty of time to do that as well as have custom soundtracks. :pity:

Linkage via Gamefly about HD details:

Yea, I've got a big screen (46 inches) and usually I can tell the difference. EA had a hard time programming for the PS3 early on. Before, Madden and NCAA were at 30 fps for PS3 with lots of hiccups until 09 when they finally reached 60fps. Of course, as always, they take things inch by inch.

EA are disgustingly complacent with their Madden franchise.

Next gen stuff, especially a 'crown jewel' of your empire type game, MUST be 1080 at this point. Less is inexcusable and arrogantly lazy.

It makes me not want to buy it.

What's that other football game called? Y28? Something like that? Is it any good?

Very seldom in the NFL do you really see the long runs though. So its not that bad, I guess. I do notice AI players on Madden games run incredibly fast side to side but once you get upfield of them they slow down.

I played TheQuestion305 today in our Madden Franchise and it was a good game, but boy was it "maddening".

Question had me guessing a lot and called a good game, but there are just things about the game, as I play more that irk the hell out of me--not your Question, but the game.

What is the point of player's attributes? Honestly, they don't mean a hill a beans online. Willie Parker acted more like Brandon Jacobs in our game. It's not the first time a "scat back" has done this. When I play teams like the Giants, it's Ahmad Bradshaw, or Selvin Young, or Michael Bennett--guys known for speed who break more tackles than Brandon Jacobs, Ronnie Brown, etc.

I'm convinced that you can't stop the run while running a 4-3 defense. Convinced. I usually run a 3-4 or 46 but I used 4-3 with the Giants DLine in this game and was smoked.

I can't wait for the day when Madden actually adheres to player's who calls plays determined to stop opponents' "money plays". Question ran a draw/sweep right up the gut out of 4WR SG sets and I knew it was coming. Had a Nickel Smoke blitz on. I had 4 DLineman 2 LB's and a DB blitzing. That's 7 guys on his 5 blockers (5 OL). Yet I didn't stop it for less than 10 yards, but once. Same thing with running counters on All Out Renegade blitzes.

That is what upsets me more than anything getting beat on plays that I KNOW are coming and that I prepare to stop and yet they end up being 10-15 yard gainers.

I think they need to do something to beef up the "smarts" of the players. I'm sorry. I played some guy who was the Colts rolled out with Manning and ran the same play EVERY TIME. Some times I could stop it with a CB blitz, some times not, but if you run the same routes, I can assure you that no matter how crappy Joey Porter, Channing Crowder, Reggie Torbor, Charlie Anderson, Jason Allen, and Yeremiah Bell are in real life they'll recognize it eventually.

I'm not a big fan of running out the clock anymore either. I know that Unified some guy went nuts on you about it. I used to be a big proponent on it. Mainly because their were too many "cheeser" plays that beat me on a whim. Now, because you have long sustained drives, it's almost not fair. You can't break one. I had a 14 play 72 yard drive today that last 6 minutes+ and I didn't let the playclock get below 20 secs all but MAYBE once.

I dunno. I'm addicted to the game and wont' stop playing because it fills my time until the season starts and I love the updated rosters function which allows me to do franchises, but the gameplan is wearing more and more on me and pissing me off more and more.

EA just plain sucks that's it but because there are football junkies out there (like me :pity:) they will get these games (but at least I rent mine now as I will never buy again).

Although I disagree with you that a game needs 1080p because its in no way necessary for a gamer unless they have a huge screen which is still the minority (those who have large screens) but if one system gets it then the others should also. So EA=lazy

Also the game you are referring too is All-Pro Football 2K8 and it is way better than Madden 09 and for only $20 bucks new how can you go wrong. However it has its downside as I can't play as the Fins and my favorite players and online has very few players but it does have leagues (my god they did it before EA...eeeek). If I had to pick I would go with 2K8 but if you like online I would see if a couple of friends have it as well so you have someone to play against (there are usually like 50-60 people online which is scant compared to Madden but you can still find games easily they just tend to either be 2k8 pros or total d-bags (well actually maybe 2k8's online is as good as Madden's )).

I have no idea how anyone can say 2k8 is better than Madden. The features are sorely lacking and there's not a whole lot to do. I can only play through a single season so many times before it gets boring.

Now if we're talking 2k5, then its a different story.

I agree it is scant on features and I did forget that so thanks for bringing it up. However for pure gameplay 2k8 is waaaaay better than Madden 09.

There's a glitch in the game. There is a direct snap to the FB play that you can redirect to the WR's by highlighting the WR and it snaps the ball directly to the receiver.

I'm done playing online. It's almost as if they force you to use the best teams in the NFL. I didn't buy the game to be the Oakland Raiders and use Darren McFadden everywhere, or use the Patriots to chuck it up to Randy Moss, or roll out with David Garrard and throw to Maurice Jones Drew. I buy the game to play a sim game using my team, where it's my strategy vs. yours. I understand there are mutiple variables there--i.e. fumbles, great plays, broken tackles, etc. but I'm just tired of playing the same game.

I can't wait for the day that they actually make it a legitimate game where QB's who roll out of the pocket immediately can't throw the ball 40 yards on a strike across the other side to a backside post. Or that no matter what the team they make the defenses AI a little better to be able to read the same play that is run over and over and over and over again.

It's just annoying, it's not fun and for that reason I'm done playing online unless it's against friends and those I know.

Everyone is competitive and I do complain, boy I complain, I think I should win everytime, but I'm just so tired of playing the same 5 teams--Cowboys, Raiders, Jaguars, Patriots, and Colts and seeing the same damn things run on me over and over again. It's not fun. I love it when I see different formations, plays, coverages, blitzes, etc. That's what makes the game fun.

So for me, online play is done.

This is exactly why I never play online.

My online college dynasty is the only thing I do online (atm), and we agreed to play sim-like. If anyone does cheesy things against another user, they are kicked out of our league.

seriously, right? i wonder if the ea guys will ever give in to the football sim nerds (or at least throw us a bone) and make a decent franchise mode... havent we been playing the same franchise mode for years now? i guess the same can be said about the game altogether.
