I think Olynyk is actually pretty good and he can start as a stretch 4 while allowing JJ to retain his 6th man/Jack of all trades role

I mean we were starting Luke Babbit

My big issue is why 4 years? What was the competition? We couldn't have gotten him on a 1 year prove it deal?

That's a good deal I think. If Olynyk plays like he has or improves even, that deal will be a valuable trade chip.

Both Waiters and Olynyk deals, and probably JJ's deal, will be very valuable deals for trades if the players merely play like they did last year, and extremely valuable otherwise if they improve their play, which something even likely.

I think this could have been twofold. One, I do think teams wanted him. He was maybe the best YOUNG player available. Secondly, the Heat could have just told themselves they're done building players value and then having to pay that new price. This could look pretty good in a couple of years value-wise if they have the same impact on him that they did with guys like JJ and Waiters.

So with all these 4 year deals is Riley gunning for Giannis?

I think Riley is doing what he can now and leaving Spo an essentially blank slate for when Riley is gone.

I also imagine they know they're not getting Westbrook, George etc., so why pretend? Being a 4-5 seed every year is not the worst thing in the world. We were so spoiled by the Big 3 It was once in a lifetime

The interesting thing to me here has something to do with what Spo said at Bam's PC. When asked about the Heat's preference to go small at times, he said they could with lineups of essentially all bigs. It kind of sounded like lip service at the time trying to pump Bam up, but with the signings they've made, that might be a reality.

Woj saying Rockets are working on moving those scrubs with $10 mil non-guaranteed contracts (brilliant move by Morey buying those contracts before the new rule kicked in). Boston is looking for non-guaranteed contracts to free up money to finish Heyward deal. Maybe we could work something out.

Also, there are talks of a three team trade between Knicks, Blazers, and Rockets. Blazers want Ryan Anderson. Would be nice to wake up to Melo as a Rocket. Make it happen, Morey.

Game started at 8am and he played like he's not a morning person. Didn't look as coordinated as usual. Still the explosiveness, strength, activity...kept him getting to the line over and over. And he's a good free throw shooter, 76% guy.

And that might be when the Warriors reign is starting to come to an end be it complacency, or players moving on.

Kelly Olynyk...legit dirty player. Our new Bill Lambeer. Personality is a fit for the Heat locker room. Really good offensively off the pick and roll, as well as defensively. Shoots 51% from the corners. Impressive when you see him run the half court offense at 7 foot. Good shooter, yet tough, physical.

Spo once threatened to put all 6'9" plus players on the court and force opponents to adjust to them. I don't know about 6'9" but considering the one-through-five defensive player that we know Justise Winslow is, the varied skill sets of James Johnson and Kelly Olynyk, the way they talked about Bam Adebayo being a one-through-five defender, Okaro White's quickness and Luke Babbitt's perimeter shooting...maybe you do see a gimmick like that.

I like tough enforcers on my teams. A dirty play here and there won't make me lose any sleep.

Wish we had Cogs still and I wish Suh would stomp Brady's clam.

Kelly Olynyk just signed a GD 50M dollar deal.

    Kelly Olynyk.....

I like him as a solid bench contributor on a title contender, but not much else.

He is "passive-dirty" as in he is not a guy ANYONE fears, however he does an amazing job at annoying the opposition with his antics.

And according to Woj the Knicks just signed Tim Hardaway Jr to a 4 year 71M offer sheet. Please God, let the Hawks match this stupid as **** deal. Damn this ****ing franchise doesn't learn. Unless they want a new Tank Commander (Rose is probably gone) this is dumb as hell.

True Story: Melo played against James Johnson once last year. James Johnson mostly guarded him. Melo went 4-12 for 9 pts., 7 rebounds, 2 turnovers in 29 minutes.

Also, he's probably the last guy you'd want to mess with in the NBA. He's a second degree blackbelt and has fought in 7 MMA matches, and 20 kickboxing matches, winning all of them.

Yep...check the circle of life in this one:

Hardaway to Atlanta for a 1st
1st rounder used on Jerian Grant
Grant to Chicago in Rose deal.
Rose gets rescinded if this goes through and Knicks sign THJR.

Only the Knicks. So Knicks. Where's section with that meme.... :(

Taking Roses spot as the new tank commander...with the #1 pick in the 2018 draft the Knicks select: Luka Doncic (or Michael Porter Jr)
