You have stock in EA?!?!??! I hope you're an employee and got them free.

 

Since 2001 really though I sold most of what I've had to just about a few hundred shares. One of the first in my portfolio since middle school. But no, I'm not an employee though I wish I were. Where else can you find a job where you spend a day making minor corrections to an existing product, slapping a new label, and shipping it out the next year.

 

Well you would have to do that by working 80 hours a week with the 40 hours being for free.

 

Is 2k5 compatible with the 360? If so, I gotta find my copy. Play some old school greatness.

Funny, EA sucks at football, made the best MLB games (MVP) and 2k made the best football games but makes horrible baseball games.

 

well im pretty disappointed in the game honestly...and I have generally enjoyed madden. The best one I ever played was 06 on the xbox honestly...

the graphics are nice, but it plays SLOW, thats all i can really say about that...it drags...the framerate stutters...defense is not fun to play.

I really hate playing a 40 minute game online and actually about to win, only to be quit on...

bleh...I think I will get to play franchise mode quite a bit, but I wish I didn't buy it this year. If I could take it back right now, 24 hours later for a full refund, I would.

edit: also, there are so many little features nowadays i have no idea how to do half of them. I just play. I don't call 52 audibles pre snap...I don't care about the "weapons" ...it's just overdone, overhyped, and boring. On top of all that, the gameplay is ****ty as hell...if it was smooth and fun to play at least I could look beyond the other shortfalls.

No idea why there is so much hate. I think this is the best Madden in years and I have it on 'The Inferior System'.

According to most people the Wii. Even though I love it and can't stand the 360. Never had the chance to play a PS3 though.

 

Best Madden in years aint saying much. Considering Madden is mediocre every year.

The only thing this madden does better than all of the others is the passing system thats it, even that has its flaws.

 

Well we're never going to get a perfect game. Madden is fun year in and year out, gets way too much crap from people. Personally I never liked the 2K games much anyway so to each their own I guess.

 

I want to rent it on the wii...i want to see how it plays, and it looks fun to boot.

 

On PS2, all-pro difficulty is easy but all-madden is hard as hell. Should I play all-madden then?

 

Thank god I rented this game. From what I've seen noobs to the series love it and vets hate it. So I'll probably be in the latter category.

 

I'm a vet and I don't hate it. I just find it very similar to last year's game. The only new thing that I have noticed in gameplay is the sideline catches.

 

I figured out why I got killed by the Cards was playing on All-Madden+Hardcore.

The game isn't that good year in and year out its average.

 

Yes but you are playing on the PS2 which is more like previous years whereas on the next gen consoles is where all the big improvements seem to be failing in the eyes of vets.

 

PS2 is the best.

 

Average yet it's ALWAYS been the best game on the market even when there were others.

 

Thats exactly why. The last-gen engine is way better.

 

Ever play the 2k series? Lightyears ahead of madden. Every year it came out. The very last year (2k5) was (IMO) the best football game ever. Which is why EA bought exclusivity rights (not to mention it was 20 bucks and EA flipped their ****. 30 bucks cheaper and better).

 

2K had better features and wasn't half assed. EA getting exclusivity to Pro Football games is proof that they were losing major sales.

 

I am loving this game. Closest game to NFL 2k5 (a godsend game, ****ing love it) yet.

 

I never thought 2k was better, never. But that's just opinion.

And that isn't why EA got exclusivity, both developers were offered exclusivity, just EA put out the best offer.

Well, of course, EA can put out the best offer...using my money...

One thing I liked about 2k was that they initially charged $20 for essentially what Madden has been doing for $60. A rehash of rosters, a few tinkering though they actually kept what was good unlike Madden.

2k5 is, 2k4 isn't. But for some reason, I actually like 2k4 more than 2k5. But that's just me and both are better executed than the Madden series from 06 on.

I loved the MVP series and in a perfect world the two would swap places between football and baseball.

 

Exactly I love the 2k series and truth be told the only next gen football game I have as of now is All-Pro Football 2008. I have never hated Madden just like 2k better.

The reason EA put out the best offer is because they had more funds plain and simple due to their longevity and that 2k always cost about a third less than Madden.

Also you have to be kidding yourself if you think EA didn't buy the license because 2k was becoming a threat. 2K5 was getting better ratings than Madden 05 and EA knew that if they didn't get the license they were pretty much screwed.

Now look what the EA exclusivity has wrought.

I used the best (rated) version of each game (PS2 for Madden and Xbox for 2K).

Metacritic gave 2K a slight edge:

Of course EA knew they'd be screwed because they wouldn't be able to make a nfl football game, just like 2k couldn't/can't.

If I recall EA was the first to put a bid about the Exclusive, 2K put an offer but EA is a juggernaut when it comes to cash. Since then they have been spewing ****ty Madden games.

OK, after I stopped playing like a complete bad *** (i.e. trying to go for the home run every play), the game got really fun in franchise mode. Now it's realistic as hell to me, and that's what I was looking for. The easiness in NCAA 09 had me playing cheesy. I still can't kick a damn FG with these ******ed arrows, though. Why the change? Smh.

EDIT: Also, 2k was never even close to Madden's level.

Madden > 2k Football
2k Basketball > Live

That's always how it's been, IMO.
