He had a 50 rating in each game his rookie season vs them. Toss those out, and he's been better, but still up and down. 2013 @ NJ - 331 yards, 94.2 rating 2013 home - 204 yards, 42.1 rating 2014 @ NJ - 235 yards, 77.7 rating 2014 home - 259 yards, 87.4 rating 2015 @ London - 198 yards, 53.0 rating 2015 @ NJ - 351 yards, 84.8 rating The home game in Week 17 of 2013 was brutal. The whole team played awful that day. The game in London last year was terrible last season too. The rest are fair to good.
has he ever played them with a healthy O-Line? That might be an important part of the ineptitude we have shown, after all we sucked against the Bills until the last game! PT
He has been awful against the Jets but so has our whole team. I mean when you can allow Geno Smithto post a perfect QBR, you're really stinking it up in the field.
Okay, well sarcasm aside, this is the first time he faces them with a decent -no make that good OL. I expect the gameplan for the Jets to be making Tanny beat them with the pass and this is a BIG opportunity for Ryan to show he can rise to the challenge.
The last time that we played them at home, we actually had a 24-14 lead in the 3rd quarter. Tannehill didn't throw any picks. Lamar Miller ran for 178 yards. But Ryan was sacked 7 times for 51 yards, including five in that second half, and was under constant pressure. The defense folded and let them score at will, and made Geno Smith look like Peyton Manning.
Outside of the Patriots games in Miami, Tannehill has been pretty awful against the AFC East period. It was good to see him finally have a good solid game against the Bills last week.
I'm very interested in seeing how our OL does versus a very good Jets DL. If we can run on them, we can run on anyone, and that would be awesome. I think they will open holes and we stick with the running attack. If you define 'shutdown' as only getting about 100 yds, then yeah Ajay will be 'shutdown' this week. Then again, if the Cubs can win a World Series after 108 years, maybe we can have the first guy to have THREE 200 yd games in a row?
Most likely. But if someone would've been passive aggressive in the other sense, with a "yep, this is ALL on Ryan"....you would've hit the like button with one or 2 others. Am I right? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Thats not true though. He, and the whole offense, have been really bad in games at Buffalo, yes. No one can deny that. But he's been solid vs the Bills in Miami, for the most part. If you remove the awful game the team had in 2015 before Philbin was fired, RT has an 8/2 TD/INT ratio vs the Bills at home, and has a 99+ rating against them in three out of the last four matchups overall.
This "trend" was more a reflection of Philbin and Coyle than the QB. Last game against them at the Met, Tannehill was forced to throw it 58 times. He completed 33 of those for 3 TDs and 351 yards. We had 9 rushing attempts for 12 yards behind the OL of Albert, Dallas, Pouncey, Turner, Fox... yes, 9 rushes. 12 yards. You can't win with 2/5 of an OL.
Tattooed Hipsters? Immature boys with beards they think make them 'manly'? Cocktails with burnt herbs, rinds and smoke infusions? "Farm-to-Table" ingredients at big chain restaurants?
I wish I could get this post engraved on to metal plates, then go to every Tannehaters house, and rivet them to the top of their computers so they'd have to see it before they post.
Yes, Tannehill has a losing record against the Jets... Historically, we ALWAYS struggle against the Jets...anyone remember the Marino/O'Brien shootout? We have a chance to not only win, but DOMINATE this game provided Ajayi can repeat his INCREDIBLE rushing performance of the last 2 weeks. That'll help keep the defense well rested to run down Fitzpatrick like he stole something.
It's not that surprising really. They are division rivals so they know your tendencies better than other teams plus both the Jets and the Bills have had top 5 DL for the last few years while our OL has been bottom 5. Not exactly a recipe for success.
If we can run against the Jets when they know we are going run I'm not sure I will able to temper my expectations for the season. I may become more of a homer than Travis.
