The Official What was the last movie you saw??

You know buddy, I found Iron Man thoroughly entertaining, and it's still probably my favorite comic book movie, but Dark Knight totally transcended the genre. It was just as effective as a crime drama, and it had an emotional depth that Iron Man, as great as it was, couldn't touch. It's definitely been a great summer to be a movie fan, I'll tell you that.

 

'Downfall' - The last days of Adolf Hitler. Great movie.

'Cocaine Cowboys 2' - Sequel to the documentary that centered on the drug wars of the 70's and 80's in Miami. This one tells the story of Charles Cosby and Griselda "The Godmother" Blanco in Oakland, CA.

 

Downfall was excellent.

Stayed up late last night to reset my clock for the nightshift this week.

The Night Listener - Starring Robin Williams and Toni Collette. Robin Williams plays a radio show host who begins investigating a mysterious caller. Based on a book and inspired by true events, decent movie. 6.5/10.

The Good German - Very well made "throwback" black and white film about the aftermath of World War II. Soderberg makes better modern films and classic directors made batter classic films. Good but not inspiring. 7/10.

Funny Games - Dark film about two preppy kids who terrorize an upper class family at their vacation home. This was definitely the most remarkable of the three movies I saw last night. Really well made, very well acted, but dark. And there is one device they used that I'm still trying to decide whether I liked or not. Highly recommended, but it is dark. 8/10

 

Pineapple Express. ohhh...kay. Just okay. Not memorable. Probably will never see it again.

 

Funny games was great. Very sinister movie with an ending that suprised me.

Dawn of the Dead Unrated (2004) - I love Zombie movies!

I cried my *** off when I was a kid.

But I just got finished watching "The Happening" -- break taken from the Olympics.

 

I heard that movie sucked...what did you think?

 

The Lookout - I personally enjoyed it. I'd give it like a 4.

 

just went and saw dark knight for the first time.....5/5 although it was a little to long for my liking

 

Tropic Thunder, loved it.

 

Doomsday -- 28 Days Later meets Escape from New York. Quite entertaining.

The Libertine with Johnny Depp. Some great acting and dialogue, but overall quite dreary.

 

I also saw Doomsday. Pretty good.

Snatch - Seen it before but its still a classic.

The Counterfeiters - German film about a Jewish man who forged the British pound note and the American Dollar for the Naizs in WWII. AWE-SOME. One of the best films Ive seen in a while.

Harold and Kumar Eascape from Guantanamo Bay. Worth a rental. Pretty amusing.

 

We were on the same wave length this weekend Doc. I forgot I saw that as well... coulda been because I was under the influence while watching it...

I *really* dug Doomsday. I wish the tattooed chick fighter could have stuck around longer.

 

What are you talking about? She was in the whole movie almost....just the later part of it her acting was REALLY, REALLY good, I mean how did she make her head flap around like that?

 

Yeah I know what you mean. That movie was VERY swift. The second half of it seemed to breeze by. The car chase scene at the end was great though.

 

Except for the very unrealistic part. NO way in hades do those cars catch up to or even keep up with the car she's driving...but it is a movie.

 

I was thinking the same thing. The Bentley would have left them in the dust. Oh well ...

 

Guys, we have to assume that they used spare parts from other cars to soup up those cars making them super-cars of the future... jeez.

When we was watching it my 16 yr. old daughter was saying, there's no way those cars catch that Bentley.

 

Tropic Thunder. Hilarious. Downey Jr. deserves an oscar nomination.

 

This is the next movie I want to see, it looks like its hilarious.

 

I saw a movie called quitting. It was really good except for the guy wearing bike shorts all the time haha. Other then that really interesting and I loved the flow of the movie.

 

Street Kings

Very Training Dayish. But Thats not a bad thing, IMO. The plot has some predictable but yet keeps you guessing. Reeves plays a good/bad cop and plays the role well. Over all a good movie. I give it 4 out of 5 busta caps.

 

BUG- terrible movie

 

I wasted my time on that in the theater. I expected more from a guy who had a hand in 'The Exorcist'.

 

Has anyone seen 30 Days of Night or The Ruins, and are either worth checking out?

 

30 Days is good

The Ruins is not

 

30 days I have yet to see. The Ruins was laughable, at best.

 

30 Days was much better than I thought it would be, once I suspended my disbelief on one basic premise.

 

I still want to see the 30 nights movie, or whatever its called with the vampires in Alaska.

 

Yeah, I just watched this 30min. 30 Days of Night: Blood Trails thing on FEARnet last night and it got me really interested in the actual movie. Not sure how the two correlate with one another however. I still need to check out 30 Days of Night: Dust to Dust too.
