Things Being Overlooked Immediately After The Seahawks Game

We didn't turn the ball over once. That's a good sign.

I hate it when Tannehill laughs it up on the sideline before the game is over. It's his worst habit, IMO.

 

we lost and it hurts. I thought maybe that when we were up 10-6 with 4:00 to go we actually would have shocked the world. Miami's lack of pass rush and coverage lost the game at the end. No matter what happened, before, drop td pass, stopped on 4th, or missed fg, we were in position to win the game. So we go back to the film and try to correct that. Yes Run defense and pass rush were improved, just hope the offense can get released soon

 

The offense on Sunday will not be nearly as conservative as it was this past Sunday. It was conservative this week in Seattle by design. Gase planned for it to be this kind of game.. A lot of 3 and outs.. A few chances at some big plays that we needed to hit on.. And win it in 4th Qtr. Outside of Stills drop.. The game unfolded exactly as he game planned for...

This is a coach that knows football. He knew exactly how the game would unfold.. And the correct game plan to give us our best shot at winning.. And damned if he didn't almost get it.

 

Yeah, I expect the defense to make plays at the end to stop the other team. Allowing 4th down conversions, two I think?, is unacceptable. I don't blame the defense for the loss, but they certainly didn't step up like you'd expect. 10-6 with 4 minutes to go, make the stop.

 

And nobody is mentioning the idiotic penalty on Wake. That extended the drive and I believe led to points.

 

No, I thought that too, but Brasfin said that drive ended with us forcing a fumble, and then missing our field goal, I believe.

But it was an idiotic penalty.

 

I didn't catch that, so I have to ask - was it a sincere laugh or one of incredulity?

 

I think that penalty was really out of character for Wake. He doesn't normally do things like that. I also think that penalty occurred due to frustration against the officials. Wake was being held, and tackled all afternoon with no calls. If you watch that play, he's essentially held and tackled by the RT, he gets up and launches himself into Wilson. Maybe he didn't know the ball was gone, maybe it was frustration at not getting another call.

 

Wake has been held for years, it's really shameful the refs let it continue.

 

The team has to learn how to finish drives and finish games. The 10-13 points left on the field was the main reason we lost, the untimely defense and sorry drive at the end of the game were the nails in the coffin. Stringer mentioned this in the other thread, but I think this receiving corps is severely overrated at this point in time. We don't have that number 1 receiver or tight end to move the chains on a dependable basis, and I don't think you can count on Parker to just come back and take that role over, if ever. This very much felt like the Dolphins' games we've been watching the past couple years, and I'm starting to worry about a stink hanging over this roster's core players (outside of certain players). Nobody can seem to make a play on offense or defense when it's really needed. Very hard to pinpoint and very frustrating to watch these types of games on Sundays.

 

He always does it. He'll drive for the go ahead score, then just pal around like the game is won...more like relieved that he did his part.

It's annoying to me. Him and Phillip Rivers do it. I'm always like, "they're going to score and this knucklehead thinks it's a wrap."

 

It shows lack of situational awareness to me.

 

So we are going to be upset that our QB enjoys playing the game... Got it.

Very un-wake like. It was like he was doing his best Olivier Vernon impression for a play there.

He "designed" for us to go 3 and out most of the game? Ummmm.....

 

Taking all of these things into account, 24ppg is average. So basically if all of these things don't happen, the offense is below average?

 

Yeah, these are the types of complaints that get me mad. Tannehill lead the team down to score late in the 4th. I'm sure he was happy, and felt good. I'm sure he thought the defense would continue their good play, and stop their drive, so he could go out and kneel out the clock.

So 5.1 points is the expected gain in passer rating on neutral turf after playing Seattle.

 

Yep, Tannehill did what he needed to do on that last drive. Took control, moved the ball downfield and scored. The defense just couldn't close them out.

Look, that was a defensive game from jump street. Both teams got great play from that side of the ball and while I expected that from Seattle in their house I did not expect that from ours.

 

In addition to the poor third down conversion rate on offense, the other concerning thing from that game was what you said above about the defense. When you shove most of your salary cap into your defensive line, those folks need to win the game in that situation. Otherwise, you're paying for something you aren't getting.

 

Tannehill should have had a 102 rating on the game.

And I don't care about averages or other teams drops. LOL

 

Yeah, it's effing idiotic. It truly annoys me. Premature celebrations only increase the embarrassment of losing.

He thought the game was in the bag, in Seattle, against Russell Wilson, 4 point lead, 4 minutes to go? He looks stupid to me for it.

Yep, Ryan Tannehill smiling on the sidelines is definitely the reason we lost this game. I'll tell ya what....A person should not be allowed to love their job...At all! He probably needs to keep that seasoned roofer look all the time, where his face is in a permanent frown from being in the sun all the time. What was he thinking huh? Smiling on the sidelines like that? Sheesh, WTF.

Lol i thought the same thing when i read that. If so, Gase perfected his game plan and the play-calling makes a lot more sense. I hope the game plan is to score more than 1 td next week. And convert more than 3 1st downs on 3rd down. Maybe even get crazy and game plan for more 4+ play drives than 3 and out drives. Baby steps lmao

 

I think he was saying that playing against an elite defense, any good coach would expect alot of three and outs. The gameplan seemed to be conservative mostly, limit turnovers and mistakes, but take a deep shot if it was there.

We should have scored at least 20 points, which would be 4 more than the Seahawks gave up last year on average. Kicking the field goal in the first would have allowed us to score 23. I think his gameplan was dead on.

You guys realize we were playing the Seahawks, right? Right?

Whatever the reason, it was just another example of players on losing teams doing stupid things. All players get held, not every player gets the call...you cannot do what Wake did. Same ol, same ol....until next week, at least.

Right or not, justified or not...this is a QBs league. QBs are judged on W/L. Right now, RT is not a winning QB. He's lost far more than he's won. That is not going to get him a loyal following. As long as hes the starter and we lose, people are going to pick on him smiling on the sideline, and every other thing he does. This comes with the territory of being the starting QB. Success is winning for QBs in this league. It just is. Right now, he's not "successful".
