You said what I said didn't even make a little sense. It makes a lot of sense. And of course people are different.. just don't tell me what is often observed "makes little sense" from a human nature perspective.

    That makes no sense.

This isn't a daddy complex. Its really simple, do what your told or you're fired. If you want your job, you do what you're told.

And again....how many times did we pass vs run? Who were the coaches putting their trust in again?

Well, I was saying it doesn't make sense for people to do that. Let's see...boss is unhappy with me, why I don't I start doing the exact opposite of what he's telling me to do.

And I disagree that people are more likely to stay on script when leadership is on their side. I think that's when people feel they have the freedom to do what they want.

We have different experiences. And you're forgetting the key part in all this: you tried your best to please and find out they're trying to fire you. Anyway, not worth a debate, but a lot of people stop cooperating once they find out whatever they try doesn't work. It's almost basic conditioning stuff.. except obviously that people are different.

Like I said though, in professional sports, one of the worst labels you can get is that of being "uncoachable."

That alone is a great motivator to fall in line with the coaches, whether they are backing you or not.

Except Tanny wasn't going to get fired, after he signed a nice contract last year. Meanwhile, Philbin was on the hot seat.

He could have gotten benched, which is being demoted and also pretty bad. Not sure anyone here wants to be demoted in their jobs.

    Jesus guy's.

Ryan Tannehill didn't run because that is an instinct he was not blessed with. His brain has a million things going on inside of it with 2.5 seconds. He doesn't have time to consider much, let alone what "Joe might think"

What a laughable debate this is. Philbin sucked, but Philbin knew he was on the hot seat for 2 years and someone really wants to suggest he would be against Ryan making plays? "Hey Ryan, if you see a hole their...just ignore it and try to get to that 2nd progression before you get pummeled"

How fictional can we be folks.

And Philbin would be fired. Tanny knew from the middle of 2014 Philbo was a pushover and Ryan was flexing his muscles. He wasn't going anywhere.

I don't know the context of what Young was saying when he said that, but I do know, in 2014, he emphasized not running right away, but exhausting the play first before running. Here is an excellent interview

Talking about RG3 and Colin Kaep back in 2014 and how they could improve. The entire article is worth reading.

Didn't know Young was coached by Gillman, the father of the Air Coryell (and Real West Coast Offense). So he was tutored by the Real West Coast Offense and the fake WCO (Walsh offense or Cincinnati Offense).

They quoted Young a couple pages ago, where he said that if he saw a defense early in the game not respecting his run ability, he would "scrap" the play, and take off running, and he would do that until they respected the run.

That's what they want Tannehill to do. I think that's exactly what you don't want a QB doing. And the Young link you provided Jdang, sounds alot more like what you want a QB to do.

Young might have been a bit hyperbolic, or it might have been an understanding between him and Walsh. I'd need the full quote. I saw a paraphrase, but no quote (maybe I missed it). I don't mind my QB running when he's exhausted his options. Or someone is coming right at him eliminating plan A. The rest of Young's article talks about Manning and Brady how they don't have options, so they became masters/PhD's in the study/film room. And that's why they're so good. That Aaron Rodgers is the perfect example of a QB who can run, but doesn't. Rodgers wants to be a PhD so he perfected his passing from the pocket. The throwing on the run or scrambling is just making him that much better as a triple threat.

Wilson is another I think has the tools as well. His offensive line forces him to run a lot, and it's scary how much he can still improve given how good he is already.

Tannehill, doesn't have that quickness in his body or feet. Another good one would be Romo. As agile, and evasive as he is, he rarely runs. But he will if it's there and nothing else is. But he's always scanning the field. Now, I don't expect Tanny to move like Romo, but he's fast in a straight line, with a move here or there.

    Romo is just crazy

Tannehill is kind of stiff for a guy who used to be a WR ...... long-strider instead of a quick twitch elusive runner. He takes a while to get his wheels moving to break forward out of the pocket - almost like he's running on a tarmac.
