He tore his rotators cuff. He was a very tough guy.

Again, compared to the competition, he was average. So is Tanny. Would Peyton do better than Fiedler on those teams? Absolutely. Like Rodgers would do better than Tanny on our team. Tanny is holding us back. ;)

Look, Tanny is supremely more talented Fiedler. My original point was, Fiedler did okay for the money he was being paid back then. It wasn't a 1:1 comparison between the two. Fiedler was brought up as someone who is an example of a castaway/cheap option that didn't work, but I pointed out, it kind of did.

I agree. It's the same thing when people question Tanny's football intelligence because he was Premed (premed, really?) I point out my sister is the director of allergy at a major hospital, and is a board certified pediatrician, but would curl up in a ball at any sign of emergency.

My brother in law, is a neurosurgeon on call for emergencies requiring spinal or brain surgery (and occasionally the visiting team neurosurgeon with the Chargers). Two COMPLETELY different temperaments. Both MDs.

Football smarts and book smarts are different. Some have both. Some have one (a lot have neither :D)

I judge football smarts by what they do on the field, never what they did in college.

Remember Channing Crowder who said a lot of stupid things but was smarter than most people realized, I believe it was sarcasm most of the time but people took it literally.

Tanny would have done better than Fielder. Much better than Fielder.

Fielder would do much worse than Tannehill in today's offense.

Talk about tough. Chad Pennington won us our last division title and was 2nd in MVP voting with a tear in his rotator cuff...of this THROWING shoulder.

We've had some really tough QB's in our history from all the way back.

And here I thought it was due to him hitting the defender right between the numbers.

I would be willing to bet the mechanical engineer could figure out the playbook. he might not be able to make the throws, but I feel confident he would understand it. Running an offense and executing it should be different things.

Thats kind of hard to say because of rule changes, the NFL has made it easier on the QB and WRs, but QB17 is a better physical QB, in every aspect, I just think Fiedler was a bit better leader, just not as good a QB.

He could have figured out the offense, but he couldn't make the throws. Fielder couldn't run a spread type offense. He was built for a running, play action pass type offense. The old smash mouth, run 20 to 30 times a game type offense that Miami played was the only type of offense he was physically able to run.

he was a fine leader, a fierce competitor, and tough son of a *****. However he was not the best at making decisions, his arm is too weak, and he was way to injury prone to survive the beating Tannehill has had to endure.
