Albert is not going to play another 10 years, or even 4 years. We haven't even gotten a full season from him since he's been here and I doubt we see another 2 seasons from him. Getting a 2nd, or even a 3rd round pick IS a solid trade at this point as Tunsil is here. You're assuming that we'd waste the pick instead of either getting a solid starter or trading it in turn for a player from another team.
weighing the pros and cons right.. pros are were getting a 2nd, and putting Tunsil where he absolutely belongs.. cons are were not protecting tannehill as best we could.
Thing is, Albert has always gone down. If his health was better I wouldn't even think about it. We're in this for the long haul with Gase hopefully. They have to set it up for the future.
I get it..but when you have a player that is now 100 percent healthy it makes the decision tougher. Its really hard man, cause I wanna win, but I have some concerns with tunsil at guard all based out of fear of injury.
5 mil in dead money to trade albert, that has to be factored in as well as not having the best possible OL.
you are assuming that second round pick will even make the team or play 4 years. look around the league at the failure rate of second round players. heck the 1st round is like 50%. no way I trade away a guy coming off a pro bowl at LT and feeling the best he has in years for that.
If someone were to offer a trade, you play the odds, imo. Odds are, Albert will be hurt, and we'll have to reshuffle the line. That's been the downfall for at least the last two years on the oline. Now, if Albert somehow stays healthy this season, we'd seem dumb for trading him, but when we got him, the issue was injuries, and it's stayed true the first two seasons with us.
