I can't believe Pennington is a Dolphin and Brett is a Jet. Amazing.

Just hit multiquote for each post except the last. On the last post you want to quote, hit quote like normal, and it'lll accumulate them all.

NFL Live talking about the move.

EDIT: Damn that was a quick segment on the move. They basically said its a good move that provides the team with good leadership qualities.

Look for San Fran to grab him if Beck gets released. Then look at him to be the next brett favre for another team, all because Brett Favre in the first place! Crazy stufts people, crazy!

EDIT: Oh nm, it's the sun-sentinel. That's where omar is employed right?

You would not expect him to say "Yeha, i'm totally overmatched as a NT, they really made a mistake putting me there" do you?

And Jenkins is injured quite a bit.

Ehh..we will see.... 16 games doesn't seem like much, but over time, things happen.

I'm mixed on this move..since we rebuilding, I'm not sure..I know Penn is smart and all, and has done a good job for NY, but he wasn't the kind of QB I had in mind... I wanted to develop our young guys...it's like this front office is acting like we're a player away from going to the sb...maybe he gets us close to the playoffs, who knows.. or we may have picked him up to give us pointers on what the jets were preparing, that's an expensive informer though..

Who says they can't still develop? Sometimes the best thing for young QB's is just to stand back and take it all in.

This is not basketball where the worse thing that can happen to a rookie center is getting torched by Tim Duncun for 42 points or in baseball where a rookie pitcher gets knocked out in the 1st inning by the Red Sox in Fenway.

The worse thing that can happen to a rookie QB or young QB in Beck's case is holding on the ball too long and getting violently nailed by a blitzing 6'3, 245 pound LB with 4.6 speed, fumbling and watch the defense team return it for a TD that can not only change a game but a season since rookie QB's don't have the luxury other rookies in other sports have since football has just 16 games compared to the 80 or more the other three major sports have.

I mean there is a reason why QB's rarely have successful seasons starting as a rookie - playing QB in the NFL as a rookie is unlike any challenge any sports rookie could face.

There's also QBs who are ready from day one, like Marino, Roethisberger, Manning..

And all exceptions to the rules too. Marino and Manning - were the prototype of what everyone wants in QB's, not to mention you are talking about perhaps two of the five finest to ever play the position.

And as far as Roethisberger, stick him on our team last year as a rookie and not the stacked 2004 Pittsburgh Steelers and how do you think he's going to do?

Very true. Although Id trade all of our picks from 2004-2007 for Roethisberger.

I did not feel like reading all 8 pages. So he re are my thoughts.

I loved Chad as a Jet. If half the NFL had his heart, the NFL would be un-worldly. It pains me to see him as a Dolphin. But the guy has to make a living.

    Enough of the sappy stuff.

Chad will give the Dolphins a super smart QB. He is a great addition to help the young kids. His is a field general. However, his abilities are limited since the injuries. Do not expect the long ball. A managed game with alot of dink and dunk. If your o-line is solid and your run game is solid, he will be fine. He will not "lose" the game for you. He will not lead a 2 minute drill in the 4th to win the game, though. If teams stack the lines and play man-press...you are f--u--ked.

    Good luck to chad.

Oh, and if anyone wants to buy a slightly used, 8 year old Pennington Jersey, PM me:up:

Thanks for not smacking this signing. While Pennington is not my kind of QB and was kind of against this signing, I guess I have to do my duty and welcome him to Miami, wish him luck.

Im a little shocked, but not really. You had to know it was coming. No QB's have really performed well enough to outright win the job. Some media outlets make it seem like Henne has, but I dont think its our plan to start a rookie. Some media outlets also make it seem like beck has done nothing impressive to win the job either, and McCown... well the reports on him have been pretty bad...

I can see us dumping mccown now... Pennington... his flaws are widely known, but I think he's definately an upgrage over McCown

lol. Funny you included Frerotte. I liked what we got out of him. And he was the only one we got for free. Same with Chad, he's free, I have no expectations. Therefore, whatever he does is a success.

I think Pennington should have to arm wrestle Olindo Mare to wear #10. Mare will win and have his number retired. :knucks:

    Remember this folks:

Dan Henning is Miami's Offensive Coordinator and who was he an Offensive Coordintaor for back in Chad's early years?

Thats right, the New York Jets. Chad will have some knowledge of the playbook stepping in.

As much as some might bash Chad, he makes Miami a better team (just maybe not against the Jets :wink2: ). However, this is a Bittersweet past three days for me.

Everything was awesome when we aquired Brett and I hoped that Chad would just land anywhere but Miami, but that was not the case. One of my favorite, if not my favorite Jet ever (after Curtis Martin) is now a Miami Dolphin and will be for two or more years. Just upsets me and it will be very hard to root against him. Although, I won't miss his recent 4th quarter collapses and lame duck farts. He will make your team better though and a lot of the times will not make a critical mistake.

This morning reports out of Jets land were bitter sweet about Pennington leaving. Means to me he's a good locker room character which we need.

Definitely. Chad was the most respected teammate of them all and that is why it is hard for about half the locker room to see him go and Brett come in. They'll get over it once Brett steps on the field and they realize how much better of a chance he gives them to win. Chad was the ultimate team player though and was loved by the players. You'll definitely have a leader in him.

He's a closet Jets fan. He's told me so via PM on numerous occasions. I'm actually picking up a Favre jersey at work for a discounted price and sending it to him. He's pumped.

High Character lockerroom guy. A warrior on the field. Yeah Chad is a football player with the mentality of a warrior. (I would have puked saying that if he was still a Jet).

I will never forget that deep pass Penny threw to Coles during that monday night game against the Dolphins. Looking objectively now, Chad throws the nicest looking spirals, and CAN throw the deep ball.

Hey Jet's fan....it is going to suck even more when Chad Pennington gives the Dolphin's defense all of Mangini's play call signals and audibles for game one of the season.
