Stevens is a GREAT young coach, in the sense that his schemes are sound, and he gets his players to play hard. But he does LITTLE to NO gameday coaching. he runs a free-slow 1-4 offense. Watch a Celtics game, he rarely calls any plays, while Carlisle, Spo and Vogel are jumping up and down signalling everything. I think Stotts is underrated. I really like Vogel. Jason Kidd is a very good coach. Spo, Kerr, and Van Gundy are in the conversation. I think that Carlisle and Pop are probably the top coaches. the rest, put them in some order....
Let me try this: 1. Pop 2. Carlisle 3. Van Gundy 4. Spo 5. Stotts 6. Vogel 7. Kerr 8. Kidd 9. Stevens 10. Bud
The playoffs are supposed to be nerve racking. I was at the AAA like I was lounging by the pool. I spent maybe 24 of the 48 minutes at my seat, and the other 24 smoking cigars, and drinking in lounges and balconies watching on a TV. You KNOW..Game 2 is gonna be TIGHT.
I'm so interested to see what happens when Stevens gets some talent / egos. So much of his praise is "getting most out of limited roster" - but in the NBA, managing egos and superstars is such a huge part of it. Like - it's hard to argue against David Blatt's resume, but the guy is an prick and couldn't handle a locker room. Not saying Stevens can't - just want to see him do it before we crown him. It's what makes Spo and Kerr so interesting as coaches, to me. They took talented rosters and maximized them to their fullest.
I think Clifford is pretty close to the top 10 and probably should be in I don't get the J-Kidd love. He had talent this year and way underachieved. Let's do worst coaches 1. Byron Scott 2. Kurt Rambis The rest of the worst have already been fired (Wittman)
I played like 24 games for J-Kidd at SG. They were putting ads in the paper for people that could dribble. they had real issues.
I hated those two threes that Jefferson made..not because it helped the Cavs win..but because nothing I hate in the world more than people that are "right for the wrong reasons." You need your head examined if you play Richard Jefferson in 2016 in crunchtime minutes.
YES! Exactly. It was a stupid thing to do, and now that he made those 3s Lue is going to keep going to that well. He's a disaster. If the Cavs lose before the Finals it'll be because Lue has no concept of what are the team's best lineups. If it doesn't bite them before the Finals, they'll lose every Finals game by 40 points as Lue trots Mozgov out there to face the Lineup of Death.
BTW, it was a really odd scene...Me and 3 of my Heat fan friends in the mezzanine at the AAA, fist pumping as the Cavs pulled that game out. Uh Yeah, we are really excited about a Cavs-Heat ECF's.
I meant to mention there would be a New Times article dropping on the drug Xarelto that Bosh took and that he's advertising, which has some pretty severe problems. I was warned of this a week or so ago, I guess it's dropping now.
A Bag of Blow, Bottle of Bourbon, a good South Beach Hotel Room and Rachel Nichols. Did I say that out loud?
Hassan disappointed that he didnt win DPOY. This is where you respond with a string of games and show everyone why youre the best defensive player Hassan.
Speaking of good and bad coaches, hello Rick Carlisle and Billy Donovan! Lol. Thunder stars struggling and just missing vs a strong defensive gameplan...and Donovan didn't do anything. It was weird and sad. Thunder are going to win the series of course, but that's a bad sign for any later-round success. KD's got to get out of OKC this summer if he wants to win anytime soon, imo.
Good, keep us under the radar. Besides, there is a five second delay on TNT compared to Sunsports anyways. Fiorentino annoys me but i rather find out five seconds earlier
This is great: http://espn.go.com/video/clip?id=15271928&ex_cid=sportscenterfb&sf24659116=1 Seriously, is there a player in the NBA that gives less effort, or more half-assed attempts on defense than Harden?
This is how you define KARMA: Remember those Celtics fans crowing about the Heat scoring 5 pts. in the 3rd quarter against them? The Celtics scored 7 pts. in the 1st quarter tonight to set an All-Time NBA Playoff record for lowest scoring quarter.
it's brutal but our old guys definitely appreciate it lol Joe, Wade, Deng all exert a lot of energy on the court, more than you'd expect at their age.
The grizzlies are so terrible it makes the Spurs defense looks scarier than it is.. Kawhi is a monster defensively, he reminds me of Revis before the knee injury, just completely erases you from the court. You literally have nowhere to go if Kawhi is on you.
I think my favorite part of game one was when he euro-step dunked on the Hornets and then immediately pointed to Wade on the bench like, "you saw that right?"
Lol, yeah apparently Justise is a pretty goofy kid when he's not locked in dead serious playing basketball. Seems like a funny dude. It probably won't happen, but god I would love to see the Celtics get swept. Watching them get beat like they did last night is so fun. Hope they're enjoying this matchup they earned by beating us in the last game of the season.
Instead of suggesting that Hassan Whiteside get the Defensive Player of the Playoffs, which isn't a thing, Spo should have told Hassan that he can get Finals MVP, which is a thing, and is actually achievable for Whiteside.
Thibodeau close to 5 year $50 million deal to be Coach/President of T-Wolves Hope KAT and Wiggins are ready to be washed at 28
That would have been Riley-esque... Spoelstra went back to the don't let go of the rope tune instead.
I thought about this as well. If we make it to the finals, who else besides him is likely to get it? Deng, if he keeps playing like he did game 1?
