I think you have gone overboard with that statement. Perhaps one or two people might have made a comment about Ross after the first season, but I don't remember a lot of negative comments about him until the Harbaugh fiasco. Personally I have stated on numerous occasions that I do believe Ross wants to be successful as an NFL owner. I believe he wants to put a winning team on the field and he wants to win Super Bowls. I just question his ability to hire quality individuals to bring about these things. I don't believe Tannebaum is the right person to run the football operations. I preferred an experienced HC, such as Hue Jackson over another first time HC, with no previous head coaching experience. I hope Gase ends up being a quality head coach and that I am wrong about Tannebaum. But I am 65 years old and I just don't have many more years to sit around and wait for Ross to finally figure things out or else sell the team. For you younger fans, patients might be a virtue. For me and several of the older fans of the Dolphins, it becomes harder to be patient when we realize that we don't have another decade or more to wait for this organization to turn it around.
This isn't just about fans. It is about his reputation with coaches, players, agents, etc. He's committed himself to a measure, when he gains no benefit from that commitment. If Gase makes the playoffs, Ross firing him would make him look disingenuous to people throughout the league.

If Gase made the playoffs, then Ross fired him, then it would obviously be for crap other than winning and people would be pissed about it regardless. Also, he didn't say the playoffs were the ONLY reason to fire/keep someone on. You're reaching and reaching feebly.
In February 2008' Ross purchased 50% ownership of the Dolphins organization. A year later in January 2009 he became majority owner of the Dolphins. It wasn't until January 2011 that he flew to California and had the meeting with Harbaugh. So he had been the co-owner of the Dolphins for a year and the majority owner of the team for an additional two years before the Harbaugh incident. It was after his handling of this interview and and then coming back to Miami and extending Sparano's contract that I first remember a lot of negative Ross comments. Five years after the Harbaugh fiasco and the Dolphins still haven't had a single winning season. I am sure Ross has good intentions, but as I stated earlier, my patience with him as the Dolphins owner has run out.
That is basically the blueprint for success for EVERY team in the NFL. The question is, do they have a good personnel dept now and can Tannehill rise above mediocrity? We shall see.

Heck I have made so many mistakes in my lifetime, I should just walk about with a shirt which reads, " I'm sorry, I was wrong". Making mistakes is just part of the human condition.
Not trying to come to Ross's defense or anything, but how was this comment any worse than when Huizenga said, back in 2007, that if Ted Ginn doesn't sign in time, he doesn't get to play for that season?
Going back on what he says, he's implying that you don't seem to have a problem with Ross going back on what he's said. At least that's what I got out of it.
I put zero stock into what anyone tells the press in the sports world. Its all a dance....a lie. Its gotten to the point that we are upset when we hear how someone really feels instead of giving the wrote answer/soundbite. Ross speaks honestly and he's an idiot who should be smarter and give us the political answer (read: lie) even though EVERYONE knows the coach has a 3 year window whether he said it or not. All Ross has to say is..."I changed my mind" What is the worst that happens? Somebody says "liar, liar pants on fire"?? Big deal. Non story.
This is about an owner who says what he thinks the people want to hear, name me the other owners that do that? There is a reason for that, it's called integrity, that may not be important to you, but it is to many others, and he can't be compared with players, coaches and media people, he can only be compared to other owners. If he was on a 3 year leash, then the contract would have been 3 years, Ross is simply blowing smoke, something you never hear from good owners, because they like to keep their integrity intact. Bottom line here, which you obviously agree with, nothing Ross says can be trusted, you don't have a problem with that, many of us do.
You couldn't have this more backwards. Ross is speaking what he thinks. The other owners (if they speak at all) speak in the same cliches that coaches and players speak in. The reason is they are trying to be as bland and non specific as possible to avoid anything being misconstrued by the press. Its why press conferences are only memorable when the coach or player goes off script, like Denny Green or Jim Mora. Speaking how you feel is having integrity, being political is not.
