tbh.. didn't look like the Pats were playing to win for much of the game. I think they cared more about player safety than anything else. So I wouldn't take this as a sign of much except that we didn't give up (which is important).

 

Blame the O line and coaching.

I have to agree. This wasn't the Patriots at full speed but it was great to see Tannehill out there taking shots and both Landry and Parker showing why they are the future of the franchise. Parker looked like a legit weapon today for sure!

Just heard them say Tannehill finished 25/32 for 350 yards and 2 TDs for a rating of 113.

Yeah the win wasn't going to hurt draft position much so I'm fine with that. We can still pick a stud LB, CB or FS at #8. Important thing is that we don't try to get cute, trade down and outsmart ourselves. We have multiple needs, potential playmakers at those positions in the draft where we pick.. so do the obvious thing!

 

yeah, lots of time to have the BIG BOARD shake itself out, but on paper....Best LB, Best CB, and Best CB/FS wont make it to the 8th pick.

Hopefully, FA will create a logical draft needs, that matches who will be there...otherewise 8th pick could be best player available but not match need exactly.

I am rooting for underclassmen declaring (like Will Fuller ND WR) to increase slippage....and hopefully combine and workouts too.

 

How many of the teams ahead of us need OL or LB help? At this point, I'd consider one of four options in this order: LT, MLB, CB, LG. I'd go LT early because a good LT usually can play LG but not the other way around. We can have the guy start at LG and groom him to take Albert's place (he ain't getting any younger).

Trading down is also a good option but it'll depend on the offer.

 

I think we may be just good enough in draft position to get a stud at one of those positions. Hopefully 2 QB's get drafted really high, at least one OT and DE are probably going, so that leaves possibly 4 spots for 3 positions, but who is the "number 1" LB for example? Some like Myles Jack, others (including me) like Jaylon Smith, and if all else fails you can probably plug Ragland at an even greater position of need because he's an ILB instead of an OLB like the others.

I think we'll just barely be fine, especially if 2 QB's go before us. We'll see!

 

I wouldn't be against us drafting a great LT, but no way do you spend a top 10 pick on an OG unless that's your ONLY remaining hole. We gotta spend top 10 picks on skill positions. A good GM should be able to fill our OG hole(s) with mid-round picks or FA. So if we draft LT he should start there IMO.

 

Good to end the year on a win, and always great to beat the Patriots

 

hargreaves III or Jaylon Smith or Ramsey should be available so I'm not worried. That's who I wanted anyway. At least two QBs will be taken and Joey Bosa and jeremy tunsil will be taken before us so that's four picks left and three prospects on the board. have to like our chances one will be available

Honestly, I'm sick and tired of the OL being ignored year in and year out. Let's solve this once and for all. Take the highest rated LT and play him at left guard, sign a veteran RT (swing) and let Turner, Thomas and Douglas battle it out for the starting RG spot. If that doesn't solve the issue, I don't know what will. And I disagree that we should spend the 8th pick on a skill position, unless the top CB falls to us at 8, only then would I consider it.

 

And on the flipside...when they had to win in week 17 to make the playoffs they go and get destroyed at home against the Jets...go figure. That's our Dolphins!

Hope there will be a time soon when they can win a game in week 17 that actually matters, or where they're playing and they've already clinched something. Since 2001 its been a bunch of choke jobs or already being eliminated from playoff contention.

 

Problem is everyone needs to stay healthy. Albert will most likely go down again, Pouncey seems to be dinged up all the time and even Juwan James has been hurt now. It is going to take an early draft pick and a lot of FA attention to fix this line.

I'm honestly a fan of drafting tackles in round two. The drop off isn't very large, if any, if you choose wisely.

Eh...I don't see a big difference between picking 5th and picking 8th. The standards for success over time don't change. If you're picking top-10 in most if not all of the rounds you'd ought to come away with some really nice talent.

You're absolutely right! Look at teams like New England, consistently picking at the tail end of the 1st round and STILL perennial contenders.

Looking at things objectively, we do have the benefit of not needing very many impact position players. We need our offensive line revamped in the worst possible way and thank God there are going to be a TON of good offensive linemen available and many of them will be available in the later rounds.

As for impact players, we are going to need a GOOD corner/safety

 

I'm supremely confident that regardless of where we pick in the first round we can get a tackle who can play better than Jason Fox.

 

exactly, these teams pick near the bottom year after year and they continue to win. they find players in the draft and with their coaching they become better players. the dolphins coaching has been beyond mediocre so when we draft a player out of college, he may have all the talent in the world but without good coaching his development will just stagnate and eventually fall off.

 

I don't see why people are saying Tackle. Brandon Albert and Ju'wunn James are your starters for 2016. Until that change (i.e. Branden Albert is released) it doesn't make any sense to ask for an OT. You can't have your top-10 pick purposefully riding the bench and no, you probably aren't going to play him out of position either. Cbrad was also correct that teams don't generally take Guards in the top-10 so that's probably going to get knocked out of contention until at least the 2nd round as well.

Miami's first round needs are going to come on defense. Right now it would make sense for Miami to look at DBs and LBs. If Vernon is not re-signed we might throw DE in there as well. On offense I don't see Miami going WR, RB or QB so I think you're either talking TE or trade-down.

Agreed completely. Taking a G with the 8th pick when you lack talent at virtually every position is ******ed. We could literally draft any position outside of rb (assuming we keep Miller) and slot wr and it'd be a position of need. LG is probably the worse thing you could do with a top ten pick other than a special teams player. This idea that the fins are good guards away from competing is laughable.
