No no no... Im not calling him a scrub. I have nothing but respect for him. I just dont like the way UFC is overhyping him. Yes, Rich Franklin AND Dan Henderson are no scrubs... But who else he fought? Some can make the case for Irvin...but thats it. And even with everything that was said above, I repeat... I dont have anything against him, I dont like the way UFC throwing people at him. As of fedor fighting tim sylvia...I do believe he was a UFC champ, and he has beated people like Arlovski, Brendon Vera. If you wanna go there, I think that Sylvia has a better chance of winning the belt at HW than irving at LHW. This has nothing to do with Fedor (which we can start a whole new argument in Fedor vs Silva) This whole argument been uoverblown. I guess i stated my thoughts wrong (sorry for any grammatical or typing mistakes, English is 3d language) All i wanted to say is that no way Anderson is best p4p (he has been defeated before) and he has no buisness fighting cote. But that's not his fault, that's Dana's.
No prob man. I understand what your saying about how the UFC markets Silva. I think it's due to the fact that hes a fan fav bc his style is very exciting to watch and none of his fights go to decisions. I also think that they've been looking for a new posterboy to replace Liddel and they think Silva is it. I agree that some of the matches they make for him are ******ed. The Cote fight is ridiculous. Cote has done absolutely nothing to deserve that kind of huge fight. I duno why they made this fight. The only thing I can think of is that they expected Irvin to beat Silva and that Cote would be an easy opponent to get him back on track. I really have very little respect for Sylvia though. That guy looked like a slob for most of his career (obv not in the best shape, esp for a "champion"). Beating Arlovski looked like a fluke. I dont really care for him either since he does take fights off. And Vera has been waaay overhyped since he came to the UFC. I remember seeing Vera say he would be the first to hold the LHW and HW belts at the same time and I laughed my *** off. Anyways no harm no foul bro. I just didnt understand where u were coming from with that first post. We'll see about the best P4P though. Impossible to know if the UFC doesn't give Silva more quality opponents.
Just because a guy has lost before doesn't mean he can't be the best P4P right now. That's like saying Peyton Manning isn't a Top 2 QB because he threw 28 INTs and lost 13 games as a rookie. Guys can learn and get better. Silva certainly has and hasn't lost in nearly four years. That's a long time in MMA. I think Silva is definitely in the discussion along with Fedor. A lot of people believe he's tops. And it's only natural that the UFC would hype their guy as such. Still, I really wish he'd stay at 205. That's where the interesting fights are. He's already cleaned out 185. Unless they're hoping for Bisping can challenge. And even that is only one guy.
anyone watch the WEC on Versus last night???? Good card, lot of good action.....some good fights.....all around solid night imo!
several online outlets have reported that the victim in the Rampage hit and run miscarried the baby she was pregnant with. just a rotten situation all around.
probably not.....thats why I love it....bunch of guys trying to make a name for themselves (mostly....we al kno jens pulver)... but there was 3 title defenses and all ended with either taps or ko.....no decision I don't believe....it was real entertaining.....i enjoyed it alot
Penn moving up to 170 http://www.mmaweekly.com/absolutenm/templates/dailynews.asp?articleid=6851&zoneid=13
i cant wait for saturday night.....goin to hooters, gettin some pitchers....and some wings....and watchin lesnar, gsp, and ken flo......gunna rock!
That's generally my routine, though Hooters is out now. I don't mind getting the wrong order every time. But when they start charging me for **** I didn't consume, I have to draw the line. I'll probably miss this card with the Phins playing.
I would miss it for the phins game as well.....but in charlotte nc now...i gotta wait till tomorrow at 4 to see it on NFLN
Kind of dissapointed that Roger Heurta lossed so IDK...badly. And I just wanted to say I personally hope I never get hit so hard that the skin flies off my face while I am doing a backflip from the impact of the hit. I mean...dayum.
yea brock lesnar is a monster....herring is 6'4 250 pounds and brock threw him around and pinned him down like he was a welter weight........and finch.....that guys got balls....goin 5 rounds with gsp is no small feat.....not to mention he got rocked about 17 times ahaha.......good card last night!!!
AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAA...wait.....wait... AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAAHA little armenian dog
After the Phins game I popped it on and figured I'd catch maybe the last two fights. Heh, I think I saw the entire card. Herring got the hell beat out of him. I cringed every time Lesnar threw one of those knees into his side. Will be interesting to see who they match Brock up with next. And GSP, dude is just on another level. Finch is pretty damn good and he got toyed with. Good thing GSP's fighting Penn again because there's really nobody else out there, is there? There's really nobody at 185 either except Bisping and Silva (I can't see him staying there much longer). Too bad they all can't be 205.
I was watching the fight with some buddies and this one guy was bad mouthing him(Brock), actually a couple of them were. Saying that they didnt want to see any ex WWE guy succeed in MMA, and how he was a joke. I actually was a little offended by the comments due to the fact that he IS a real fighter and has the same skill level that alot of fighters that have entered the MMA had when they first started at it as well. I just hate to see him discredited for being an ex WWE performer.
Lesnar was a national champion wrestler at the Univ of Minnesota (and lost the championship match the year prior i believe.). that is an MMA worthy pedigree by anyone's standards. sounds like the guys you were watching with don't know there stuff, so i wouldn't worry about it too much.
Yeh they do BDH. But the technologies they have to get through detection are always advancing. But all those using will get caught eventually. But if your hinting at Lesnar, I dont know if he really uses. He's huge but he looks naturally huge.
yes sean sherk got suspended 6 months I believe for a banned substance....they do random testing before/after fights..... and just for the record....brock lesnar got signed (already HUGE) out of college into wwe......ncaa has strict testing.....so the guys just a f'in beast!!!
theres little to no doubt that brock was on the sauce when in the wwe. but he's nowhere near as big and muscular as when he was performing for vince. and we all know vince likes his guys jacked to the max. and seriously...wtf...who gets a damn bowie knife tattooed on thier ENTIRE torso. im all for tats but jeez...
If your refering to Brock Lesnar the guy is clean. One of the reasons he quit WWE was becuase he never had enough time to work out. He absolutly loves working out.
Did you seee the thing they did on him before the show? He works out for an avg. of 6-7 hrs a day...thats crazy.
James Irvin flunked his post-fight drug test after getting demolished by Silva. No word yet on his punishment (that I know of). I think he had like 20 days to contest. So that might have happened.
If Kongo could keep it standing he could have a chance but if Lesnar can take him down with the relavant ease that he probably will be able to, then he's in trouble. If Brock learns how to finish opponents from the mount position, people are in trouble. They might be giving Kongo this match up because he said he wanted a title shot...maybe they think these two are right in line for one.
