Is Ryan Tannehill the long term solution at QB?

This happens when you go from Big Ben to lesser QBs like Tanny and bridge water.

They switched offenses from 2011(and prior) to 2012.

The comment was made that Wallace did better with Big Ben throwing him the ball, and I merely pointed out that he didn't 2012.

He had Big Ben in 2012.

Was a different offense. And people were telling me all off season that Bridgewater would be able to get it to Wallace deep, cause he throws a good deep ball.

i told you several times bridewater doesn't throw a good deep ball, his release is suspect on it, very wristy..not good...really had nothing to do with ryan why I said that it was just an observation for a while.

 

they were ALL learning a new offense. An offense they all hated. Took Ben and Brown about 2 years to even get their bearings straight again. Didn't think I had to explain that after the common denominator comment. Ben's ypa went from 7.9 and stuck at 7.3 for two years until 2014 when he finally figured out Haley's dink and dunk offense. Brown's ypc went from 16 down to 11.9 and still hasn't recovered. He's getting a lot more volume because Wallace and Sanders are no longer in the picture.

Bridgewater threw an ugly deep ball to begin last year, and improved by the end of the year, and has seemed to step back. Criticize Wallace, but he's getting open up there. He's being missed on a weekly basis for a WFO td each week. This past week he was wide open in the end zone and TB overthrew it. Wallace has skills, but you do need the right QB to get it to him. Tanny wasn't it. Look at Stills this year. Sure, he's made a couple throws but how many has he missed? How many has he decided not even to look that way. Patriots dared us deep, and ... it is what it is.

But Wallace is gone. I'm liking Diggs up there (partly because I stole him on some waivers). Kid looks to be good. Wallace compares him to Antonio Brown and I hope so!

 

No one, literally no one, ever argued that Wallace didn't have skills. We argued that his skillset didn't fit in a timing based offense.

 

No many said he sucked. Most pointed out he didn't fit. Some countered that he did not initially fit, but tailored his game last year to better fit and if Tanny had Big Ben's deep ball prowess we'd be in business (but we know Tanny doesn't). Let's not forget he scored 10 TDs in the red zone which is not the easiest thing to do. Some even argued, he stole Red Zone TDs chances from others and with him gone, it'd be easily replaced especially by Landry

 

The complaint about Wallace/Tannehill always was around the deep ball. Some think Tannehill was to blame, others point at Wallace not being successful in any offense since 2011, with regards to the deep ball.

 

I'd say no with a large helping of we probably can't do better so he stays at least through his contract...

I'd guesstimate him at roughly the 10th to 15th best QB in the league. He's also inconsistent which is a problem.

He's not gonna be elite. He can be good enough to get us to a superbowl if we build a good enough team around him.

Voted Not Quite Sure, but I lean towards no.

the same issues are there with ryan and the traditional deep ball, this year he's releasing the ball earlier because the play is designed and being coached that way..

lets say RT17 leads us to a playoff next season, gets past the wild card then loses...

has a 90 passer rating all season, 3500 yds 30 td's 15 picks

They were all learning a new offense in 2013 in Miami too, but I guess everyone but Tannehill gets to use that as an "excuse".

 

Our QB needs to have a floor of Dan Marino with a ceiling of perfection. Anything less and we get to criticize

Tannehill is closer to a Ferrari than Geo Metro.

Personally I`m still a Tannehill backer but damn , I just wish he would show more leadership and emotion and put the team on his back and do whatever it takes to be productive more consistently. Be more lateral in the pocket, extend plays , be willing to run if a read is not there...that sort of thing. He seems to be more willing to take a sack lately then try and work out of it. I mentioned in another thread that maybe its because hes been on his back so much in his career that he`d rather cover up and protect himself rather then try and extend and risk taking a bigger shot. I still think hes our answer at QB, I just wish he`d hurry up to the next level.

 

You know what pisses me off most about Ryan Tannehill?

He wont say **** this bull**** and start winning some much needed drives....notice I said drives..not games.

When we absolutely need a drive, I need him to let his balls hang out and go ****ing Brett Favre...

Then we dont have to have all these damned debates.

Brett Favre has the record for career interceptions. Furthermore, he ties with Jay Cutler in INT%. There's a lot of risk in playing that way and my guess is you won't like it if Ryan throws an INT.

 

Only Wallace was. Tanny was in the same offense sine preschool. Everyone else it was their 2nd year. Try again.

More and more I'm finding myself leaning towards Tannehill is not the answer. He's just not even coming close to getting the job done - that's reality.

 

This team is so predictably bad, especially the offense. I wouldn't have the slightest idea why our 3rd down offense is so miserable. You'd think a 1 yard pass would work wonders on 3rd and 5+. Can our offense score more than they give up? Stay tuned!

I haven't hopped off the Tannehill bannedwagon yet, but I'm in the crouching position, waiting for it to slow down just enough so I can hop off without hurting myself.

Too many horrible performances against division opponents, not showing up in big games, and just all around being terrible the last few games of the season. He is not playing anywhere near well enough, in this, his 4th year. The coach has been fired. The results are the same. It's time to start placing some blame on the QB.

Stats dont mean ****!!!!!!!!!!!!!!Brandon weeden had a 72.4 completion % 92.1 qb rating and got benched.Why because he didn't lead his team to tds or wins.

 

At no point did I come close to suggesting Matt Moore should start. Don't put words in my mouth. I'm still a Tannehill fan. For as long as he's the Miami Dolphins starting QB. I'm just not so sure he's the long term answer anymore. He isn't getting it done.

 

Most of those 300 yards are yards after the catch. Tannehill throws 3 yard pass and Miller/Landry run it for like 20 yards.

 

This doesn't at all refute my point.
