Actually according to ESPNEWS the offer is now $25 million. Also this is probably going to count against the cap. Why they just don't trade him to say the Jets for a bargain bin price is beyond me, I guess they prefer things the hard way.

Yeahp that's what Adam Schefter said the rumor around the league is. He said because it would give them a football advantage that the league would have to count it. Also the Packers are stupid and overly dramatic because if they wanted rid of him getting say a 3rd/4th (that's what Randy Moss was so Favre is at least worth that (but I think he's worth more but he has the Pack bent over a barrel and they'll never get top trade value for him now)) from the Jets would be great as that trade couldn't bite them come playoff time (assuming Rodgers can get them there). They want the best of both worlds I guess.
Ted Thompson better hope his boy Rodgers, who he picked, doesn't suck because he's made such an effort to make sure Aaron is the starter next year. If he turns out to be a bust, Thompson will be checking under the hood of his car before he starts it for quite some time. That guy is a bastard. He doesn't care so much about the Packers as he does his own reputation. He wants to prove he knows who's the best guy to have at qb, even if means kicking to the curb a guy with legendary status up there. However it turns out, I think a lot of people will be glad when he's gone as GM.

Please. Favre is hardly being kicked to the curb. He's done this "I'm done, no wait I'm back" routine for four or five years now. He FINALLY appeared to have made up his mind and retired for good. The Packers asked him in March if he wanted to come back, and he said no. So the Packers tailored their draft strategy and free agent examinations accordingly. They drafted two QBs, they arranged their roster, and they moved on. Now Favre wants to come back at the very last minute with a $12 million salary. Are you kidding me? The Packers are the ones getting screwed here. They have a very good team and a guy they think will give them good QB play for the next decade, and they're now being held hostage by a guy who gave them his word that he was done. I'm with the Packers on this one; Favre needs to go the hell away. This is the reverse of getting jilted at the altar, as if someone crashed the wedding and threw a beer bottle at the groom.
I think Favre would be a total fool NOT to take this offer! I couldn't imagine someone paying me that amount of money to NOT work!

You got to remember his job isn't like ours and I'm sure if we got to play football for a living for 17 years and loved it we would rather play than sit at home. Well, if he truly liked doing these things he wouldn't always put off his decisions to retire/unretire until the last minute for the past 4 years. They guy is truly selfish, and he should just take the money and run. Go out with some dignity, get ready for the HOF, have his number retired in week one, and live the rest of his life being known as one of the top 2-3 players......ever.......in this sport.
I totally disagree with that. Just about every NFL player will say that when the season is over their bodies are so beaten that all of them would like to retire. Put on top of that a rough season for the non-Super Bowl winners and you have an extra potent problem. Now look at the way Favre went out. He was 37 I believe (mid 30s for sure) and you know his body is strung out put on top of that the tough loss in OT versus the Giants (that he helped cause) and you can see why he wanted to retire. However time went on and he felt better and wanted another shot. I think a lot of us find ourselves finding renewed interest in something after getting space from it for a while. The only place I see Favre being selfish is wanting to come back as the starter but if he hadn't retired he would have been the starter anyway. Because of that I don't understand how the Packers can say Rodgers is better for the job where if Favre hadn't retired he would be the starter. This is all a power play from Thompson because he was tired of Favre being bigger than him in GB. Favre is a big time QB he is a diva but so are the rest. The Packers owe him for saving their franchise from mediocrity the last 2 decades and they repay him like this. Well I say shame on them.
I say Favre is selfish because this isn't the only year that he has done this. For the last 4 years he has had Green Bay wrapped around his finger because all of the decisions were based on whether or not he was retiring in that particular offseason. And this is the only year that Favre actually made up his mind early in the offseason, only to renege on it later and attempt a comeback. Favre doesn't care about his team. He cried like a little girl when the team didn't go after Randy Moss. Look at how the team played without Moss BTW. He shows that he doesn't care about the team by wanting to play as a starter on a different team rather than be a team player and do what he's asked by GB management.
I agree the year where he drug out his decision until like July was selfish but what he is doing now isn't and to me they are not interrelated. The guy wants to play and he wants to play for the Packers but the Packers don't won't him. So he can stay retired or he can move to a team that wants him. He's not betraying the fans because the Packers are forcing him to leave if he wants to play, so the blame is on the Packers if Favre is in another uniform next year. Look at it this way, if this was 1999 and Marino decided that he wanted to come back but in response the Fins organization said no, Jay Fiedler was the man for the future. After Marino tried to work with the organization to come back as a Fin and the organization told him to F off, if he wanted to play for someone else how could I blame him; I would blame the organization. what year are we talking about 2001? this year he said he was done, and actually retired...hence the whole goodell having to reinstate him "thing". and his performance last year was solid, but that team was amazing. every facet of the packers game was awesome. ryan grant exploded, the defense was lights out. the one opportunity to compare the two, Rogers out performed Farve in Dallas.

As for getting close to the Super Bowl... were you watching the same NFC Championship Game I was? Favre is directly responsible for the Packers NOT getting to the Super Bowl! Meanwhile, when Rodgers had to replace Favre against the Cowboys, he was arguably better. If the Rodgers that shows up in 2008 is the same Rodgers that showed up against the Cowboys, then that team won't skip a beat. Brett Favre is done. He knew he was done after last year. The reason he thinks he isn't done now is because there's no one available who can say to him "No, Brett. You can't do it anymore."

Well a post from a Packer site stated their trying to work out some things for this "contract" Like if Rodgers goes down he can comeback and play, sit out the 08 season but outright release in 09.
