I got a feeling Dolphins are going to dominate now. The Defense that is, I don't think the Offense will be any good with Tannehill at the helms.

Dude, Tannehill doesn't suck and is the least of our problems right now. He's had a very bad season, and this is probably the low point of his career, but in the end he will be fine. It's extremely rare that a young QB comes into this league and lights it up the way Marino did. Most young QB's, struggle, improve, regress, take steps forwards, backwards etc. Russel Wislon played a great game on Monday night but had 2 terrible turnover that would have cost his team the game in all likelyhood if Calvin doesn't have a freak fumble. Back to back NFC champion Russel Wilson should have just lost to an 0-3 team and they should be 1-3 right now if it wasn't for a fumble and a bad call but you don't see anyone questioning him. Luck is throwing picks left and right but you don't see anyone questioning him. Football is the ultimate team game and for some reason the majority of fans don't understand this so they blame everything on the QB, they're wrong. I'm not saying Tannehill is some great QB, he is very average right now, I'm just saying there isn't a single QB Tannehill's age or younger that doesn't have major flaws in their game just like Tannehill. 6 f****** runs last game, what a f****** joke, Lazor is a f****** tool just like his boy Chip Kelly.

I'm not going to give Tannehill a free pass, but I don't think he's to blame for what's gone down really. He's played dismal the last 2 games, but that's a first for him to have back to back games where he was really off. He's definitely at the cellar of his career and needs to find that inner spark to turn this thing around. How he responds to this adversity will determine if he's ready to climb another rung on the QB ladder. This is character building time. The team needs to sit down and watch a few Rocky flicks! Maybe having a new coach will help. I think RT's the type that can shake things off and bounce back from lows like this. That may end up affording him longevity. Boy you know we came out flat on offense in Game 1, which I believe was due to a weak OL (players and injuries), play calling, and some bad luck with calls. The team let that get in their heads and any negative in subsequent games led down the deep dark tunnel of futility. What will make a difference is if Campbell can take command of the other coaches and players and either provision an alternative approach, or inspire them toward an alternative approach. Maybe they can get some positives going.

i don´t think he is , think of this this tough SOB was sacked 148 times the last 3 years, not counting QB Hits , this year he is dealing with having the 77th and 79th rated guard in the league by PFF, i know PFF is not for everyone, but if you have seen Dallas Thomas and Jamil Douglas play, its not good looking for sure, Douglas is even more of a problem than Thomas right now....77th and 79th !!! there are only 64 starting guards in the NFL !!

I am glad Philbin is gone.

That said, we are excited now about intensity... but ifDan Campbell doesn't win due to inexperience with X's and O's we will all be making fun of that same intensity eventually.

    He's still gotta win.

I don't think a HC needs to be good with X's & O's, that's what the coordinators should be. But that's my fear, we still have Coyle and Lazor.

Agreed. I agree that RT's performance has been hindered by bad OL play and bad play calling. I think his play the last 2 weeks has been the worst yet for his career. In other games he has performed relatively well despite those around him. Last two weeks... I think it's gotten to him. And it's probly more than just the performance of the players around him. I wonder how much he's been handcuffed by coaching as well. So I think there's a good chance we could see a rebound for this team if we can get the Line to perform a bit better, clean up on penalties, and get the trenches on Offense and Defence to play with a lot more intensity.

I think the hope is that, at least with Lazor, that he was hamstrung by Philbin. That is the defense I would use if I were Lazor, anyway.

It is a better defense than what Coyle puts out there, at least...

Based on the success he has had with the TE's, Clay, Sims, Stoneburner...., I think he can coach at least one on one. Can he X and O? We're gonna have to wait and see.

As far as him keeping the Coordinators, I think it's pretty obvious he wants at least Coyle gone. But it is going to be very difficult to bring someone in from the outside for a very uncertain future. Only hope to replace is to promote from within and I dont think we have anyone on the staff that would be a real upgrade outside of Duffner and he is a long time friend of Coyles.

If we are relying on the coordinators for the x's and o's, then it becomes harder to replace them AND the Head Coach who, by all accounts, is more of a motivator than a tactician. Even if he was, his expertise are on offense, not defense, so I am not sure if it is realistic or not to consider firing Coyle and bringing in someone to implement a new scheme, on an interim basis. I honestly don't know how successful, or not, that could be. I imagine it would take time to bring everyone up to speed. Time that Dan Campbell doesn't have.

I do believe that Coyle's days are numbere in Miami though. At best, he survives the season before being jettisoned. At worst, he is gone before we play Tennessee (from his perspective).

I don't know if Dan will survive past this season, but if he does, it will be because he demonstrated SOMETHING to the higher ups, which should give him even more clout to hire and fire his staff in the offseason. And if he doesn't make it past the interim portion...then the new coach will assuredly bring in their people, as well.

Sounds like the new coach is doing everything he should be doing.

The sad reality of the situation is that he might be a good coach, even a good head coach, but still not succeed here just because of how difficult a situation he is stepping into.

And if he does succeed in this ****uation... well then that should be weighted very heavily at the end of the season.

I get it, but with the defense, what's the worst that's gonna happen....allow teams to run and pass on us at will? Register 1 sack every 4 games? Allow an offensive juggernaut like the Buffalo Bills to put up 41 points?

Any NFL defensive side of the ball coach with any amount of experience, could literally be better or the same as Coyle, who is also hated by the defensive players.

The problem with keeping Campbell is that it may be difficult to fill out the rest of the staff. There's certainly a convo to be had on who Campbell wants to keep. There's an equally relevant convo on who wants to stay or come in from the outside and work for him.

Hiring coordinators is especially important bc by his own admission Campbell isn't an X and O's type guy. He says he's tight with Parcells, maybe he'll get some guidance there. Maybe not. After what Ross did to Sparano Parcells may be reluctant to help out. Sean Payton is another guy who was mentioned.

For some reason I think Eric Mangini may be the new HC.

While at Texas A&M, Bear Bryant had the "Junction Boys". His proving ground for who wanted to be on the team and start.

Dan Campbell now has the "Bubble Boys". :shifty:

As far as the Xs and Os... Bear also said that he only hired coaches and coordinators that were smarter than he was. If they weren't, he didn't need 'em. Same applies for HC's...

It was reported that Ross spoke to Parcells about replacing Philbin after the Bills loss and that Parcells gave Campbell a recommendation. This change wasn't made overnight on a whim.

    Well away from here
Ross called Parcells regarding the coaching change, Parcells recommended Campbell for the job. I think the line of communication are open, especially between Campbell and Parcells. Not the person many would want to be our new HC soundin board, but at least there is experience there.

    And he's not Philbin.

I have no idea, but we've been down this road before and it didn't end well so I think we need to be cautious in that line of thinking.
