I know you should always be careful about what you wish for, but I really hope Favre gets traded to the jets for their 2009 1st round pick. Here's why: The Dolphins are gonna stink in 2008. Six wins would be quite an achievement. We ought to be a 7-9 or 9-7 team in 2009. There's no way Favre will still be playing when we finally are a serious contender. Favre to the jets certainly will not hurt us. It will help us, cause the jets have already mortgaged their future with all the offseason spending. If they pony up a 1st or 2nd rounder, and pay Brett his $12 mil, they only dig themselves a deeper hole. By the time they have to pay the piper, we'll be starting to gel. Finally, we all know the jets suck. Its not like Favre makes them Superbowl contenders. Without Favre, they're an 8-8 team at best. With him, they still have a crappy O-line (yes, I said it cause its true), no running game, and a defense that cannot stop the run. Besides, nothing pleases me more than seeing jets fans feeling defeated. Favre to the jets will end badly. And that is good news to any Dol-fan.
Or... Farve plays 2 years for the Jets.. They Draft a stud rookie QB and let him learn behind the best in the business and than with a team stockpiled with talent they allow the 2nd year veteran step in and play with a great surrounding team and we are looking both a good NJ and New England Team and stuck to 3/4 in the division again.. I say no to him in NJ I do not want good QB's in the AFC East we need all the help we can get and that would be 2 losses right off the bat.. Just my take!
True dat! Besides, the ole "vet teaches the rookie the ropes" thing is overrated. Teams employ a QB coach for a reason.
It would not be for a first round pick, it would be for a 4th or 3rd round conditional pick. There O-line is much better, its not crappy. And with Frave they very well could make the playoffs. What's good for the Fins is Pennington and Clemens!
Don't know about whether Favre really wants to got to the Jests or not, but it's indifferent to us either way it goes down... Besides, there's also another issue regarding the Jests...they don't currently run any kind of WCO, which is all Favre has ever played in...Now, Favre is still a pretty good QB, but the transition from the WCO is difficult. The passing tree is completely different...the QB has to wait for the recievers to come open in their routes, where he's used to throwing to a spot in the WCO...I just don't see Favre wanting to struggle with the change in offense...That's exactly why Tampa makes much more sense...Gruden was once his coach...
Not sure if he will take it or not. the last I heard, he was boarding a plane to G.B. they also said they were thinking about offers from nfc north.
A post from 124 in the afc east thread. REPORT: PACKERS, JETS IN “SERIOUS TALKS” Posted by Michael David Smith on July 31, 2008, 8:53 p.m. EDT The Green Bay Press-Gazette is reporting that the New York Jets are in serious talks with the Green Bay Packers and Brett Favre’s agent about a trade that would send Favre to the Big Apple. In fact, there’s actually a headline right now on the Press-Gazette web site reading, “All But Over: Favre to Go to Jets (It’s Over: Favre traded to Jets)” although there’s no story under that headline, and it has the appearance of something that was mistakenly put up by an overzealous web producer. (UPDATE: That headline has now been removed.) However, there’s no mistaking that the Press-Gazette is reporting that the Jets “have shown a growing interest” in Favre, and they now appear to be the favorites to land him. Favre was reportedly planning to fly from Mississippi to Green Bay this evening, but he has apparently now canceled those plans.
Its okay all they do is trade his right to the JEts he wont play for them. Think Jake Plummer, Zona to Tampa couple years ago.
GARCIA HAS CALF STRAIN Posted by Mike Florio on July 31, 2008, 5:27 p.m. According to our friends at Pewter Report, the leg injury suffered during practice on Thursday by Buccaneers quarterback Jeff Garcia was a strained calf muscle. “Jeff Garcia strained his calf,” coach Jon Gruden said. “We don’t believe it is serious.” From PFT
Favre in a Jets uniform??Packer nation is gonna be sick for years to come!!!heck, I'm gonna be sick too!!!
He wants to either start for the Packers or get released and play for a team he wants to play for ALA The Vikings seeing how they need a QB to push them to super bowl contenders. Lets face if he goes tot he Jets their a 9 win team at best and you would have to face the Pats, Colts, Jags, Steelers, Chargers, ECT. Sorry but Favre wants a super bowl not get knocked out in round 1 or not make the play offs.
Maybe the Jets acquire him and work another deal with a team Favre wants to go to behind the scenes without the Packers knowing.
The Jets would not be giving up a 1st round pick for Favre and probably not a 2nd round pick either. It was believed the Jets had made an intial offer of a 4th round pick so this deal, if Favre doesn't take the money, will be for a 3rd or 4th round pick.
I am sorry but the truth is that if the Jets end up with Favre they are at least a 10 win team. I hate the Jets as much as anyone but Favre is still really good. He might not be a world beater but the guy can still play and at a very high level that 80% of the QBs in the league right now CANNOT play at. Will they be able to go to the Superbowl, problably not. Would it make for an exciting Jets season for their fans, absolutely. Will it be good for their future? Well, given their current options at the position, this seems like a good fit right now and if he stays on for a year or two longer then they can draft a replacement. The truth is that he's a significant upgrade for their team right now and I hope it doesn't happen, but if it does, what are you going to do?
on the plus side we'll have a lot more INTs this year if we get to play Favre twice a season.. it'll give our young DBs some confidence building exercise
How far off are the Jets defensively from The Vikings, seriously? They have a solid if not great front four, the secondary is young and has monster potential. The LB's are the only question mark IMO.
Vikings Dline blows the Jets out of the water, same with their LB corps. The secondary is in questions because no one could run on them. Vikings will have the best defense with Allen pass rushing the QB.
Kris Jenkins is better than both Kevin & Pat Williams and yes they have Jared Allen to rush the passer, but thats it. The Jets will come at you with Gholston, Pace & Thomas. David Harris is also 10x better than any Linebacker the Minnesota Vikings can throw at you. Also, Darrelle Revis is a #1 Cornerback poised for his breakout year in Year 2 and Kerry Rhodes is one of the best safeties in the game.
No way. Jenkins isn't better than Kevin Williams. And don't give me the Pro Bowl votes because they're equal. Williams has more sacks and tackles.
BAHAHA dude no way is Kris "OVERRATED" Jenkins is better than the Williams bros. E.J. Henderson is better than any LB on the Jets. Revis is better than any corner on the Vikings but Vikings front 7 is way better than the Jets.
Last play of the conference finals ended in an INT. totally his fault. He's an awesome QB but in the long run is a liability at his age IMO.
Totally solid player, I agree. Vikings could be the biggest surprise in the NFC. You get a solid QB in there and they contend IMO.
Yeah, it was his fault but that's typical Favre. Just like in 04 I believe it was, they played Philly in the playoffs and he rainbowed a ball straight to Dawkins. Winfield is very underrated. Last year wasn't his best year but he's a very good player. I agree with you.
How very optimistic. They've certainly got some potential. However... Vikes 1st in Rush defense 2007 and 2006 Jets 29th, 2007 and 24th 2006. Not so sure Jenkins will jump you from 29th to 1st but then stranger things have happened just look where Miami ranked in pass defense. The Vikes coverage last year left a bit to be desired but this could be due to the fact that they averaged 40.4 (total 646) pass attempts against per game as opposed to the Jets 29.4 (total 470). Despite this they allowed an average of 19.4 points (total 311) as opposed to the Jets 22.2 (total 355). Had 38 sacks to the Jets 29, and a lower average of 7.0 yards allowed to the Jets 7.2. Harris is good, sure, but I wouldn't say he's 10x better than Henderson add to that Greenway and Leber who both had decent seasons last year and you have a pretty good corps. Sure maybe not the sexiest names but definitely nothing to scoff at. That being said you certainly have some potential there, but after years of experience Miami fans can tell you a thing or two about "potential"
I know what you're saying but it really isn't a great idea to be honest. Think about it, i know theres a small chance of this but what if we're this years cleveland browns and have a shot at the playoffs but miss out because of the jets being better because they have favre. I dont know, i just dont want him in the AFC East unless he's in a phins uniform.
