got my comission check direct deposit stub today along with my paycheck. seems like its 800 or so dollars heavy. maybe its accurate, but my last month was ****ty. should i call HR or let it go? im leaning toward calling
Sign it over to me. I'll know what to do with it. You could call if it affects your conscience. If not well, they might not miss it.
you should report it.... they will always ultimately find out if they make errors, and its better to pay it back now than to have it docked from your pay in future months.
Remember last year when the Eagles discovered they'd given Brian Westbook an extra $3 million? Meanwhile, I discovered last week that our HR company had shorted me about 2 grand since April. Clearly I hired the wrong firm.
You dont happen to work at Sears do you? When I worked in the hardware department they accidently gave me training salary on top of commision for 2 months. So in essence, they helped buy me a car I'd play dumb and act as thought you dont know whats going on. Its their problem, not yours.
already emailed the boss and got a response. "thanks for being honest, our controller would have eventually found out"
After a couple months they fixed the glitch. It was a corporate mistake in accounting so there was no docking of pay or anything.
Good for you, Stitches! Melbourne, for your edification: http://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/dilemma And honestly, that's the right move. Oh, and a big F.U. to your boss for that "our controller would have eventually found out" line. A simple, "we appreciate your being upfront about this" would have sufficed, rather than a reminder that, yes, Big Brother may screw up at times, but he'll catch on eventually. That said, my grandfather had a phrase that covered this sort of situation. He said to my dad "Danny, always keep the money. If it's not yours, you can give it back later."
