I like Tanne and glad we won, but remembering a reoccurring concern with Tanne is that he leaves points on the field. Wasn't a great day for him, but a win is a win.
Dropped "gift" INTs count as incomplete or completed passes depending on whether a receiver caught it. We had both today. Dropped passes by our wide outs count as interceptions or incomplete passes depending on whether they are caught by a defender or not. I hope that helps. I can tell you find football confusing. Stick with it! You will get it!
It matters so you can actually KNOW what good and bad actually is. SO Many ppl complaining about "near" interceptions by Tanny need to see what damage REAL interceptions can do. How can you know what REAL bad QB play is if you only watch one guy? Cause after reading this board for more than 2 minutes you can see that there are alot of "fans" on here that don't seem to watch any other teams. and must think that a QB should NEVER make bad throws, or be perfect all the time.
We did with that Drive at the end of the first half. Romo also thres 2 REAL interceptions that could have killed his team if The Giants had ANY bit of a competent QB themselves. Why they were running plays with 10-12 seconds left on the clock with 4 minutes to go makes absolutely no sense to me. But hey its Eli so he's SOOO much smarter and better than Tannehill. Romo and Eli both had worse games than Tannehill did yesterday, but you wouldn't know it by this board. Other QB's who played worse? Flacco Manning Luck actually there is a big list of players who played worse....But naw. Tannehill with the WIn and no interceptions is getting a D rating from alot of you guys SMH
Buddy, do you realize we scored ONE offensive TD!?????! He along with the entire offense deserve a 'D' like rating! One TD. Another case if hiding his subpar play behind a good completion percentage. Ryan had a bad game, no harm was done in the win column so we should admidt it and chalk it up and move on.
He did have a bad game, because we expect better from him. I can guarantee you he would say the exact same thing. I only have issues with anyone trying to equate his bad game with what kind of QB he is overall. That said....we know hes capable of better so the fact it was a bad game and he still had a plus QB rating...aint to shabby.
Perspective: We all pretty much agree he had a bad day. Remember when bad days were QB ratings of 70 and below? His was 93. All QBs have bad days. Ill take a 93 bad day. How bout you?
It was only 93 because the Redskins defenders have stone hands. Real damage that 93 QBR did though ..... in leading us to 1 offensive TD. He has bad days, he has good days. It's the string of good days needed to elevate this guy - especially putting away bad teams early, which we're not seeing yet. Everyone was talking up his 300 yards, 80% completion, and 140 QBR in the preseason and now we're seeing that you can't carry that over into the regular season.
Both of these posts really should be the end of this conversation about RT and the game yesterday. I thought he had a subpar game and I thought the team did as well...no sugar coating that in the slightest. But.....to equate a bad game to a bad season, both for the QB and the team going forward is laughable after 1 GAME.....1 GAME!!!!! Posters making decisions on what type of team we will be and what kind of player RT is now, after Washington is juevenile. Good teams and QB's have bad games....to translate that to the rest of the season is MADNESS. Did anybody learn anything about what kind of team we and the Pats were after game 1 last season? I guess not! We got a win, in spite of 90% of our team playing poorly...move on.....1 game out of 16, in spite of knee jerk reactions by a few, does not predict the view of the QB and the team over the next 15...thanks VT and Fin-Omenal, for keeping things in perspective.
Kirk Cousins should not be playing Ryan Tannehill to a draw. I like tannehill and think he still has potential to be very good, but he will never reach even Matt Ryan level if he doesn't show more pushing the ball down the field. He has mastered the 5 yard pass on 3rd and 11. He needs to master the 20 yard pass on 3rd and 11.
I don't think anyone doomed the season yet. This game is being viewed within the context of all of his other games. This is year four and they were being sold on how great he was in the preseason only to watch him come out (particularly thru the first half or so) and just look like he was in reverse. The defining moment was that missed Sims TD. The guy went out on a cart on what should have been the most routine TD pass.
Semantics. A lot of Tannehill faithful sold on his greatness FOAM at the mouth when our WR's drop passes. But when a DB drops an easy interception - they don't even bat an eye and sweep it under the rug. It could have been even more than two given the tipped passes at the LOS as well.
The passes to Cameron were more like 20-25 yards. I believe the poster is talking more vertical that that.
I will say that Tannehill's first half was severely stunted by Miller not being able to make a 3rd and 1 and a 4th and 1. But he did throw 2 balls that should have been picked off and weren't.
I really couldn't care less about how ppl "grade" or "Rate" a player, especially when someones gives them a D after a win. by now we ALL know that they need to play better. That is undeniable. But a D rating? give me a break. If Tannehill gets a D then how would you rate the other QB's in the league? Manning? Brady? Romo? Eli? Brees? Luck? Wilson? Stafford? Flacco? Newton? It's easy to just throw out random grades and ratings but without any context or perspective it's meaningless. IMO I'd give Tannehill (and the overall offense) a B-.
we REALLY need to end that narrative cause its a moot point. EVERY qb makes bad throws. There is no STAT for "near" int's.
I really cant wait to see your reaction after a great performance by RT...Are you over the top that he is great? or do you chalk it up to one good game? you seem persistent to immediately criticize the slightest compliment that RT received yesterday. One game is one game, whether great , poor or average... team wise and QB wise. Nothing more and nothing less.
and what has MAtt Ryan ever done in his career that he is such lofty company to be in? he couldn't even win his own division with a losing record last year
anyone faoming when MAthews dropped that gimme pass that ultimately led to a fumble the next play? or are you just making up stuff to fit your agenda?
22 Minutes everyone!!! 22 Minutes...the offense hardly had time on the field. with a huge turnover on players, limited action for some because of injury and not having enough time on the field to get something going REALLY hurts an offense that relies on timing and precision. When the line can't get any push to complete a 3 and 1 or 4th and 1 its hard to sustain drives. but when push came to shove and we started to get some drives going they looked pretty good. until the line again allowed Tanehill to get blown up and it killed a drive with that crazy fumble. PERSPECTIVE!!!
There are people predicting our record now and what kind of season RT will have after yesterday. Thats my biggest problem. Anymore than Ryan playing great yesterday and the team playing great should get us talking 16-0 and Ryan being All-Pro.
"Any QB can throw bad passes", but, WRs can't drop passes, it's your agenda that is being served. It seems to me that there are people here that are bigger Tanne fans than they are Fin fans, defend Tanne at all costs, throw everyone else under the bus, including the coaches, no player can make a mistake or they are ruining everything, except Tanne, he can make mistakes all he likes and it's no big deal, everyone makes mistakes. Talk about an agenda.
So we're going to penalize Tannehill because they couldn't convert on a 3rd and 1 and a 4th and 1 and Landry completely cancelled out a potential scoring drive that may have started at the 50 by taking it to the house. That 2 minute drill was a thing of beauty.
I don't have an agenda, I'm not putting down receivers for dropping passes like I'm not throwing Tannehill under the bus for NOT throwing any interceptions or making bad passes. Everyone makes mistakes, MY POINT, is that Tannehill didn't make any mistakes that cost us the game(like any other player on the offense in reality) and outside of the bend.....bend and bend some more but not break defense in the first half the defense played great too(in the second half) Did the offense leave points on the board? of course. but they DID go for it on 4th (which I did like the call, just bad execution) the fumble was bad, because we were driving and moving the ball with no problems, but even that fumble wasn't Tanne's fault alone...if at all. The anti-Tannehill crowd here REALLY need to take off the blinders.
Minor quibble......Tannehill was at fault for that fumble. He was not tuned to the pass rush yesterday at all. His sacks and fumble were all on him. Years past? I think he took waaaaaaaay to much blame for the sacks, but yesterday he had time and more importantly, space to maneuver but he just basically ignored the rush.
Wow....so apparently you don't know what context and perspective is. So everything is either a D or an A? Everything is based on an individual basis. But yes if they lose the game they definitely deserve a lower grade. However some of those losses were CLEARLY on the defense so the grades would vary. I don't get what you are saying here.
Well since you brought it up, had he made a good throw to a wide open Sims, no he wouldnt of gotten hurt. Seriously though, Ryan did not play well. Are people actually defending his game yesterday? Stop it.
You're stepping on a landmine of bullcrap. Don't get suckered in, its like arguing with a brick wall that changes its argument and likes to troll.
