They may or may not but this is in my opinion a serious look. There is no way that given the John Beck follies of 2007 and his less than stellar start to TC and what is seemingly some confidence issues that they would inflict further potential damage to his psyche by bringing in Quincy Carter as a favor or anything less than a true evaluation. Now they may feel it is a longshot but they want Beck to succeed and in no way would they mess with his mind like this.....IMHO this does speak volumes and I am not feeling real good about it...this front office is patient and I do not think for one second they have delusions of being a playoff team this year so to even entertain the thought of Quincy Carter is scary.............

Byron Leftwich? Daunte Culpepper(again)? Jamie Martin? Tim Hasslebeck? Tim Rattay?

All are better than Quincy Carter.

He played for the AFL2 which is an indoor arena league, its like the minors for arena league. He also got posted for pot and cocaine right before a game

It would be one thing if they brought in a descent qb, then yes that would speak volumes to me about their feelings on mccown, henne and beck. But quincy carter? Thats just confusing.

Maybe the old Tuna is human and is just trying to help the guy back into the league.

    Hey...he is still available....

Ehh.. straight up, I'd be happier with McCown starting the Quincy Carter, but if our Qb's have looked that bad in TC so far, there are no sacred cows with Tuna, if he likes the move it will be made...

    I have to disagree.

This is absolutely a favor and no QB on the roster is going to have their psyche damaged from them bringing in a has been.... or a never was actually.

Parcells is probably the only one that is willing to open the NFL door to him again. By allowing Carter to work out he'll be able to get his name back into NFL circles and possibly someone will keep his name handy for an in season 3rd string QB job when a QB goes down.

Carter wasn't too bad of a QB when he played. But the fact is that he hasn't played in a while which strikes me that we are looking at him. I just can't see us signing him. Even if they are not impressed by the QB's in only FIVE days of TC, you would think that they brought in McCown for that reason.

If 17 TD's to 21 Ints is not too bad in a full season, I don't wanna think about bad. This guy would actually make me want Fiedler back and I mean it. And this is Dumbo we're talking about, who ranks just a notch above Ray Lucas in my book, who by the way, is another Parcells QB. Wanna bring him back too?

Honestly, I'm beginning to question Parcells when it comes to QB's. It's killed him in the past and I hope it doesn't do so again. And he's had gifted assistants for QB coaches/OC so that makes it even more mind boggling.

If anything, Carter nearly lost the games for them. If you were to put Carter and Lucas in a QB competition, you'd have a tough choice in more ways than one.

There's a reason it was only one year.

Parcells has a fondness for all the wrong QB's (Bledsoe, Testaverde, Carter, Lucas, Henson, Scott Brunner).

I saw him that one season where they went to the playoffs and I believe lost to Carolina. Statistically, not impressive but helped win ten games.

Same could be said for Jay Feidler, and plenty of other bad qbs.

Still using the wrong words here. It should be "Statistically, not impressive but fortunately not putrid enough to cost ten games"

One of these days, I'm going to do a writeup about how I feel about Parcells QB's.

You know we're bored as hell when there's an 8-page thread in 2008 about Quincy Carter.

All in favor of a Ray Lucas camp invite + thread say "I"

I still take **** from Chargers fans for the Drew Brees fiasco and from the Giants fans for essentially swapping Sam Madison for Will Allen. That 2nd rounder could've been Ryan Cook, Devin Hester, or Greg Jennings.

Parcells is loyal, and often does favors.

My bet is that Carter is looking for a way back into football, a second chance, and Bill and the Dolphins giving him a workout will help him and his agent generate interest from other teams. It is a sign to other teams that they could/should consider giving the guy a look. I don't think we'll sign him.

That said, Ireland always says he does due diligence on all available players, and Carter is available. It could just be the F.O. being thorough, like when Couch got a look last year.
