Not sure if this is conjecture on the Yankees part so they don't get raped on any trade they try to make. Also looks like Austin Romine might be headed to Seattle for dusten Ackley
When does it end? How times are they going to going into a teams trash barrel before playing the talent they have in the farm? Not only that but the initial offer got turned down for Ackley? Pathetic...
One mans trash....lol The Yankees announced that CC will pitch tonight, Mitchell brought up for long relief. Same as Miller, and Tanaka. Makes me wonder if the pitchers are doing too much lifting.
His value will never be higher and he's a 27 year old bench player. I'm not saying dump him like they did with Victorino and probably what they're going to do with Napoli but if the Sox can get a package similar to what the A's got for Zobrist they should jump on it. If I'm running the Sox I'm trading any players that doesn't have a future with the organization and collecting assets to use as trade bait in the offseason to go hard after players who may be available like a Sonny Gray type.
Gray won't be available till 2017 when he's arb eligible. But I see your point. Except, who's really going to available that's worth anything that won't be a free agent already.
You never know who will be available. No one thought Josh Donaldson would have been available last offseason and look what happened. But nothing wrong with having prospects hanging around just in case.
flores and Jose Ramirez to Seattle.... I'm a sad panda, I really liked Flores. Where does Ackley even fit? He's not better than Drew, barely better than Brendan Ryan's mustache and garrett Jones could outhit him in his sleep.
The Marlins trade is dumb. The franchise is a mess. I'm usually very optimistic about the Marlins and what they're doing but frankly, they've managed to just gut everything worth getting excited for. Stanton and Jose deserve better than this hot pile of garbage. It's unbelievable to me. I used to 100% love the Marlins but I just could not care less anymore. This ownership/front office has managed to hammer the fan out of me.
Yovani Gallardo says he will waive his no trade clause if he can get traded to Toronto. Everyone wants togo to canada now
Every closer goes through it. He was money last year as a set up guy, hes having a hiccup. He will get past it. We're 3-1 (including today) in games hes blown anyway....if a closer blows the save but the team wins anyway then was a poop actually given by any fan of the winning team?
I have no idea what they are doing.. Then again i dont think they do either. Cashman has wanted Ackley for a few years now.. Again dont know why...
I haven't really followed baseball that closely (aside from watching sportscenter and catching highlights; and loving the game MLB: the Show) since the first few years after Griffey joined the Reds and Ichiro just started (I would really only follow those two players specifically), but I find myself following the Astros news daily and even tuning into the games once in a while. Having moved to Houston a year and a half ago (and working here for more than that regularly), and typically listening to sports radio here on the way home, I became very knowledgeable about the team and a lot of the players, and now that they are not the worst team in baseball and have some players I have heard about since they started in the minors (like Correa), I find myself even tuning into the games from time to time. I watched the last two innings last night for example, and it was great to see Castro hit a walk off home run with 2 outs. I would imagine I might watch even more as the season progresses and the playoffs draw closer. I'm not sure I'll ever be an avid watcher like I am with the NFL, but they're certainly drawing me back in at a level I never imagined happening, as I had stopped soaking up everything baseball just before I got into HS.
Yankees are going after Kimbrel, would certainly make the bullpen even better having a 3 headed monster in the 7th, 8th and 9th but I suspect they will have to get at least 1 SPer today.
Sounds good if they dont overpay. Shreve and Wilson have been great as well. I guess the plan is to get into the playoffs and hope to get enough innings from the starters. I simply dont have any faith in any of our starters atm though.
They absolutely need another SP (possibly 2), they can't feel comfortable going into the playoffs with 4 question marks (Pineda, Tanaka, CC and Nova) and an unknown in Evoeldi.
Well the SP market is drying up quick....Carassco to the cubs is looking likely, Mike Leake to the Giants has already happened, CWS are back in it so Smardizja is off the block...who's left?
Rick Porcello! Seriously though James Shields, Tyson Ross, Gallardo, maybe Iwakuma. Other than Ross not except "sexy" names. Also worth noting that Cespedas is 100% going to be traded today as the Tigers can't give him a QO when he becomes a FA.
Buster just tweeted Boston, Cubs and SD are talking about a 3 way blockbuster but hasn't given any names on who might be going where.
Just a guess but ill go with Upton Soler Venable Bucholz Baez as some of the names involved that would make sense....
Can't see how Buchholz would be in any deals with him being on the DL with an arm injury. I'd love to see the Sox dump Sandoval since SD was interested in him in the offseason even if it means taking back a bad contract like James Shields. I know the Sox like Kimbrel and Ross too. Names I think the Sox might possibly be trading would be JBJ, Marrero, Magot as those guys are blocked in the Sox system.
Very true but Arroyo (who was actually traded twice this year while on the DL) is more of a paper move to clear money for the team dumping him. The team trading for Buchholz is looking for him to make an impact and who knows if he's even going to pitch againt his year.
Not familiar with Buchholz's contract, but is he controllable beyond this year? If so, team's may be looking beyond adding him to this year's pennant race. That seems to be a larger factor this year and moving forward.
Buchholz has two team options for 2016 and 2017 for 13.5 million each year with a 245k buyout for '16 and 500k buyout for '17, so basically Buchholz has a very team friendly contract. Which is why if he was still healthy and pitching now he'd probably bring back a bigger return than Cueto or Price because of the extra 2 years of control. Again though the problem with Buchholz is he might be back in September or might not be back at all for this year (and if he's not how is he going to be moving forward) so what exactly is his value? Big risk for both the Sox and the team trading for him.
Tough to be an "avid watcher" really. So many games and there is so much dead time in them. But baseball is great white noise I find. Radio is always a good bet, or having them on the TV while I am doing something else. I like following news/notes/standings too (trade deadline is always exciting, unlike football), and the playoffs can be money to actually watch. Going to the occasional game is great too. I'm up by Austin where the Rangers have their AAA farm team, and I get out there 15ish times a year lately. It's a good, relaxed environment. On trade news, Padres appear to be pushing deals hard. Not much to come out of them so far, but they really do need to do something eventually.
Is this Buchholz's first injury? I seem to recall him being somewhat injury prone. I would think Hamels deal would be a template, but the Sox I don't think should expect nearly as much. Buchholz is not at that level, and with the injury ... Maybe 1 upper end system guy (unlikely a top 3-4), and 2-3 other mid tier system guys.

As a Cubs fan, this concept scares me to death. Worried about losing stud prospect Javy Baez, and not that interested on anyone from BOS or SD.
