Kinda surprised Heat fans didn't trash the Spurs more for the Aldridge signing after trotting out that tagline. Unless I just missed it.
Listen, Sec - we have pretty fun back and forth on here - but you're on thin ice if you trash Mo. If you bring Delonte into this it's over.
Think of it this way..... he gets a chance to play in BK...and play his way into ANOTHER contract. Here, he really gets limited minutes. No guarantee we win H2H with BK on contract offers.
Did we just not want to sign him? Or did Brooklyn catch us when we weren't looking? Damn! I guess I'm feeling greedy after all this good offseason.
$500,000 guaranteed for an unknown summer league sensation or $1.4 million vet minimum for Amare (or another vet)? I under stand the choice, as much as I like Reed.
We were probably giving it time, and BK stepped in and said..."**** that...they found Whiteside..maybe they did it again!" On his part...it is VERY RARE for a guy 4 SL games in, to get a guaranteed NBA contract.
Also the Nets had him in camp last year and cut him as one of the final cuts. Not surprising they're the team that jumped in. Good for Willie. Amare, let's get it signed.
The Nets have rescinded Mirza Teletovic's QO and made him an unrestricted free agent I'm interested. He's a career 36% 3pt shooter. Can play both forward positions. Might make McBob even more expendable
Goran Dragic interview now with Lebby.... Pat did the drop the rings on the table gimmick on him! (It seems to work)
I'm debating Thornton v. Teletovic I lean Teletovic just because he can play PF if/when Bosh and McBob get dinged. We already have Green and Winslow who can both play the 3 or the 4. Plus, McBob could either fetch salary relief or a decent piece, if not now, at the deadline.
LOL. Lebby: "Go ahead...say it! Not 1, Not 2, Not 3, Not 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, Dragic: "Nueve." There you have it. The Dragon says 9 ships. Take that Hairline.
Not disagreeing, but weighing contract, you have to consider it. Though McBob actually shot 41% on 3s in the very limited time he played for us
Don't. Thornton can turn your lights out on any given night. he gives us a JR Smith factor, and with a deep team...when he goes "bad"..you can bench him and be fine with it. Tele is very one dimensional. Thug ball, and open threes. Pass.
Better to keep McBob until next season. When the salary balloons next summer, McBob's contract will be quite a bargain. If he's healthy and plays well, he's going to be a heck of an asset not only this season but certainly next summer. Heat can still cut Billiam, Ennis, heck even Tyler Johnson to make room for Thornton, and that's with keeping Chalmers and Bird too.
Fair enough. At the very least, he's another interesting option out there. But Amare needs to be priority #1 right now
Pat Riley Holding court: Pat Riley on why rebuilding isn't an option in Miami: "That wouldn’t help all of our journalist-turned-commentators and everything."
Still McRoberts deal is a steal for the skill and depth he brings at the 4 and 5. Teletovic is just bad.. Still think more moves will be made with Chalmers and Bird's contracts.. Two expiring deals that can land us some real skill.. We can build a team that 1 through 9 are all real contributors if Riley plays this right.
I don't think the Heat are planning to move McRoberts. Ethan tweeted something yesterday about how while they are looking to shed money, he is heard something that makes him believe they'll keep McBob. And honestly, if the goal is to make a real run, you don't dump a good bench guy like him that is a perfect fit for this team and really isn't making very much money when you look at the deals for role players given out this year. EDIT: Here is the tweet:
Jeez was he that worried about Dragic taking less or does he just do that everywhere? "I'll have a Big Mac." "That'll be $4.75." *Riley drops rings on counter* "Sir? That'll be $4.75." *Riley drops more rings on the counter* "Sir, that is not money. You need to pay for this." *5 gallon bucket of rings dumped on counter* "Just take the damn thing."
Per BJax, Heat have pushed Thornton visit back twice this week but he is coming in tomorrow. Heat called him after signing Green and told him they still want him to visit. He has interest from New Orleans amongst others. We must still want him though or we wouldn't be wasting the time
Teletovic signs 1 year, $5.5 million with Suns So, we get Green for the minimum, they get Tele for five times that. Yeah, I'd say we got the better deal
All the depth we can get at the two is important... Wade misses too many games. 8 is already a lot of games missed, twenty? That decides whether youre a top 3 seed or if youre battling for 8th..
Wow! What is arguably one of if not the best starting 5 in the league with McRoberts, Winslow, Green and maybe Amare and/or Thornton coming off the bench. That's a strong 9 or 10 man rotation during a playoff run. Health would be my only concern. Don't know what will happen with Rio and Bird, but even if they're given away for basically nothing that roster is solid. I'm assuming that we'll also have Richardson and UD and either Shabazz or another reserve PG getting regular season minutes.
