Jordan Clarkson. That was who I wanted, but I also liked Napier and still have hope for him as well.

    My preference:

    1. Trade up for Winslow/Hezonja
    2. Johnson
    3. Booker
    4. Dekker
    5. Oubre
    6. Turner
    7. Kaminsky
    8. Liles

If they come away with any of those guys I'd be happy. I'd prefer a wing, though.

    Eh.

Looking back at the list, KJ McDaniels is the only guy I look at who has real starter potential.

Could the Heat have traded the Napier pick if they knew LeBron wasn't returning or did it fall under the Stepien Rule?

I don't know if you've watched much of Clarkson being that he was on a dumpster fire of a team, but living in LA I saw him a bit and he looks like he can be a pretty good player. He was really the only bright spot on the Lakers this past season. He really came on at the end of the year.

20 ppg and 6.5 apg in his last 13 games shooting a pretty good percentage. Sometimes it's easy to fill up the box score on a bad team, but I think he's got nice upside.

It's called.....getting your player at the price you know he won't say no to.

I am sure the offer is gonna be higher than that though.

What people don;t get is that Napier fits every single profile of every player Riley has ever drafted in the first round, and scouted him personally, twice, before Lebron ever said anything.

Now, here is the thing about all these "numbers".

it is ILLEGAL to talk numbers with any player at this very moment as per the CBA. it is even worse to talk numbers with a player that currently has a player option before he opts out.

    Yet EVERYBODY has "numbers".

Gonna go ahead and call bull****. This is all Agent driven BS.

BTW, Goran Dragic has looked at homes near where Chris Bosh lives (North Bay Road). One home in particular used to belong to a money laundering king and was seized by the FBI. Price tag is $12,500,000+.

I don't know which property it is exactly...but I think it's this one:

So you think he'll sign for less than the full max? That's interesting. Does that change projections on cap space?

To get Stanley we would need to move up three spots anyways. Pistons are zeroing in on him.

Oubre hasn't shown anything to me on tape. He's a measurables kind of guy. He looks the part. He might have upside but that's because he's very raw right now.

I feel like you could spend years waiting for Johnson's shooting percentage to go up though. But I guess that's just part of drafting rookies.

I don't know if I'd want Kelly Oubre period. I mean, those long arms could wrap a normal man up in a hug twice over and that could make him an elite defender and all, but I don't see much else to him. And you go back to that elite defender thing, even with his equatorial wingspan it seems difficult to imagine a guy with his strength (or lack thereof) being a good defender.

Are there any guys other than Stanley Johnson or Kelly Oubre I should be looking at?

EDIT: Now that I'm looking, I really like Sam Dekker. Maybe not as much as Stanley Johnson but if it's true Johnson is virtually a Piston then I definitely prefer Dekker to Oubre. I'll try not to hold his being white against him.

Im going to guess we end up with Kaminsky. I want Devin Booker but it seems like every guard worth a damn is going to be taken before the tenth pick.

What I see with Oubre is that his ball skills haven't yet caught up to his crazy fluid athleticism. Like, he doesn't have the handle to make good on how quick and long he is, and he looks awkward sometimes when transitioning from bounce to shot or bounce to pass. Maybe that'll improve once he fills out a little. His jumper has a nice high, smooth release, though his shot selection at Kansas was not good. His bball IQ is a big concern with him, along with developing his right hand which I think is just a matter of time. Like Sec said, he needs work, but I think he's got more potential to eventually become a 2nd or 3rd option on offense than Stanley Johnson.

My worry with Johnson is that I think he's just a decent athlete whose best attribute is strength. I'm not sure how many guys like that become really good offensive players as a wing. He has decent quickness, decent burst, and below-average vertical explosion. I'm not sure that profiles to being a great offensive threat on the wing against NBA athletes, and his paint struggles are weird for a guy that size. He's got to raise his release on his jump shot, too. I just don't see special or even above-average athleticism or finishing; I think he can be Ron Artest.

That said, Johnson's a much safer pick than Oubre due to his more polished footwork, shot creation, and handle, and I think he's just a smarter player with better passing instincts and timing on offense. In the end I think I'd take Oubre, though I don't know much about his work ethic like we do Johnson's.

Anyways, I'm just crossing my fingers that we somehow end up with Winslow.

    What "sauces" that guy has.

Only way we could afford Ellis, unless he is willing to take the mini mid-level is if Wade, Dragic and Deng leave.

So whatever "interest" they have is pointless. If Wade/Dragic and Deng all leave you don't bother with Ellis. You trade Bosh and build around Whiteside

I got the Los Angeles lakers lol

3-8 is upside down imo. I like Lyles a ton...I think he may end up being an all star in the right system. Hes a bit of a 3-4 tweener right now but hes still 19 and could grow in to a true PF. I see a lot of LaMarcus Aldridge in his game. Kaminsky is a player I know Phil Jackson loves because of his age, maturity and skillset. I dont think he will take him at 4 but I think hes in play in a trade back scenario.

Also, Cousins to the Lakers or Knicks...Or Celtics, Wolves, Rockets etc could happen. The disconnect between coaching and management is real. Personally I think George Karl is very overrated as coach. Gonna be hard for the Knicks to get him unless Boogie comes out and says he wants to go there. But he IS an ideal fit for the triangle.

Another rumor being floated is the Suns dealing Bledsoe and 13 for the Knicks 4th pick. I dont like it personally unless they take back Calderon's contract and give up additional pick(s).

Porzingas worked out for NYK on Monday and did not finish the workout (Hammy).

Golden State is offering pick 30 for someone to take Lee since it would save them a massive luxury tax bill. I think they'll probably have to sweeten the pot with an additional pick or player. No one is rushing to do the champs any favors.

This is shaping up to be a fun draft night....I think a lot of unexpected things are going to happen.

I see a guy with way too many problems and some of them seem like they might be structural to me. I think his ball handling issues, his left hand issues, those could be structural issues rather than just things you can "develop". I don't particularly like his shot either. Another thing to develop. His body looks thin and weak. Another thing to develop. The basketball IQ thing you mention, another thing to develop. Basically all he has is that length and athleticism.

I'm just not interested. I'll pass.

Johnson on the other hand I'm not sure I see a guy who is just strength and decent athleticism. I see the results of a lot of fundamental training and polish. Left hand or right hand. High basketball IQ. Tends to come through in the important moments of the game. I see maybe the most structurally sound and compelling shooting mechanics of the guys I've seen thus far, including the sniper Devin Booker. You'll just have to be patient and wait for those very mechanically sound shots to start falling at an elite percentage.
