Well, so far to Streeter...Freeman is 2-2 for 90 yards...my type of deep ball...the offense sure is clicking so far.
lol Damn right. I dont take OTAs seriously but for backups and fringe guys it's a diff story. Backup DBs better be able to play ST and Davis is not a ST guy. Dude better find his next gear find or find his next team.
Come on Pate...We cannot count Lynch out yet...the guy hardly ever drops anything..I will have to wait until tomorrow for him to turn it around.
I'm not counting him out, but I'm not sure what his place is. The guy was likely to make his bones as a #2 TE, and I really didn't like his college lead blocking, which is a big part of it.
I'm pretty sure Lynch may lose his job to Stoneburner, Jake is much faster, more explosive player Pate, can handle much deeper routes by a long shot, has soft hands and displays solid technique in blocking, were talking third tight end here, id go with jake.
well their both healthy going in..I love me some tyler eifert, but cameron is a freak too, so its tough. admittedly I went gaga over Eifert comin out, but two bad injuries negated two full seasons leaves me with no smack talk in me.
' Way too early for that statement...Lynch has good talent..a few days to get the rust off..I would much rather US go with Semisch over Stoneburner if they decide to donate a talented Lynch to another team....if we drop him....the Cheatriots will pick him up because besides his talent...He knows the playbook..that is the way they operate..always.
if someone has good talent they should be farther along in the process..maybe the wrong choice of words..I don't see a guy who can get down the seam with consistency, I see a basic 10 to 15 yards from the los, in line tight end..looks like a third stringer..hes in a fight for his job.
...I cannot wait,Sick...I think and hope that our offense just runs like a well oiled machine this year...scoring lots and lots of points every week..of course the D is gonna hold most opponents to 10 points or less.....heck, what are they gonna do if Freeman really lights it up in preseason? Carry 3 qb's on the roster?
Further along? He was a rookie last year who went on IR before the season due to back injury..saw allot of him in SEC games..went deep down the seam successfully at Georgia. Well, I of course, would like him to make it,but if he gets beat out by better talent then so be it.
i guess it just depends on what they want, stone burner is the more viable threat in the passing game imo.
I'd have to completely agree...I'd think Thompson would have a better chance at making the PS. Kovacs and Jones are likely goners, maybe Davis as well, at this point anyway...tons left to go before 53 cuts.
I was thinking that Thompson needs to make the 53 also. He has plenty of talent...I was worried about PS for him too. Either way I am rooting for him and all the rest..We need these young'ins to show early so they have to play them, some of them at least.
Ya but the reality is, we're going to lose AT LEAST one on D and one on O to the Cheatriots. It's as dependable as the sun rising in the east.
Eifert played 15 games in his rookie season. He had one bad injury in week 1 last year that derailed him, I'll grant you that, but he only missed a game in 2013.
Re: #3 TE, I wonder if Gerrell Robinson isn't the guy there. He was activated the last 2 or 3 games last year and, IMO, is closest to what they have in Jordan Cameron. As far as Arthur Lynch goes, he's basically the poor man version of Sims. Perhaps they keep him as someone who can play some H-Back/Fullback in certain situations, but I'm struggling seeing how he makes the roster. As for Stoneburner, he was something of a disappointment at Ohio State. Some of that is having Terrelle Pryor and Braxton Miller has his QBs; neither of whom were good passers, but I didn't think Stoneburner ended up fulfilling his potential. A little too straight line-ish to me as an athlete at least at OSU. Will be interested to see if he's improved any.
None of our draft picks though..We have some good UDFA's also though so I am sure they will get their opportunity.
yeah were debating third stringers here, but Sims seems like he's still ascending as an overall tight end skill set so theres a bit of hope.
Is it just me, or was the info coming out of today's practice was fairly positive. I know it's early...shells and shorts...and all that, but it's good to hear, compared to recent years. I'm hopeful these are early signs the offense is getting very comfortable with Lazor's system, after a year into it. So excited for the real practices/pre-season.
Cj mosley was a dolphin fan as a kid, dan was his favorite player, loved watching Zach, mark clayton, keith byars, etc.. you can tell from the footage that he and Suh are close and trust one another, he's a grizzled vet, grown *** man. should be a good battle he, Mitchell and Phillips for PT..but Mosley knows how Suh works on the inside, if its close or even you gotta give it to Mosley. Suh is excited for Mosley, and lobbied for the player, says they have a brotherhood, they push each other, very familiar with him, so is tannebaum from his jet days. ''its very disrespectful for a team in a passing league to run the ball on you, its embarrassing actually'' that was his answer after reporter told him about the dolphins last 6 games against the run.
I like Sims as a #2, but if Cameron gets hurt and Dion is our best option, our offense will take a big step down.
lets remember, we put in a waiver claim for tim wright, so as far as that 3rd stringer goes, who knows..Lynch was drafted so he's on the hotseat.
hence the waiver claim for the more athletic version of tight end in Tim wright.. thats why I also looked at Jake a lot closer today, he's just way more athletic than lynch, can do things down the field that lynch cannot, so I think he wins that 3rd job.
Haha, Tim Dwight? Wasn't he that kick returner for the Falcons and Chargers a long time ago? Would have loved to get Tim Wright though

I am hoping that as well. It is really nice to hear mainly good news right now and it is also good that we are able to work on timing, teamwork, and the playbook. I have not been this excited in many, many, year's and if Philbin has also learned, studied, and grown more after pre-season then I feel that we are going to have a positive, winning, season this year.
