I have a feeling the Clippers wanted to avoid Ricky Davis, but once GS matched Azubuike's offer sheet they didnt have much choice. Hopefully they got good value on the contract, which I imagine they must of given their limited cap space at this time. Assuming that's true it could be an alright signing.
My understanding is it's a 1 year deal with a player option for a second. I wish it was a team option, but oh well. For 2 years and not too much money, it's not a terrible move, but it's time to forget the fact that this guy was a #1 draft pick. He's been in the league 7 years; he is what he is. But, I've said many, many times, Joe Dumars deserves the benefit of the doubt.
Holy cow....forget about Emeka, EVER becoming a FA. http://msn.foxsports.com/nba/story/8391250?MSNHPHMA
I don't know why the Knicks did this. They gave up a player who showed some real promise in 2007 and has some definite defensive chops for two guys who almost certainly won't play a minute for them, and a second round pick they collect in 2 years. It can't be a cap clearing move; they had a team option on Balkman after this year.
Boik said it was because of their guaranteed contracts. They had 16 and now 15 with Balkman gone. I didn't know he had a guaranteed contract in the first place.
Donaghy Gets 15 Months Former NBA referee Tim Donaghy has been sentenced to 15 months in prison for his part in gambling scandal and changing outcomes of games.(Link) Gordon Considering Europe? Bulls Ben Gordon says that he is not going to rule out a possible move to a European basketball club. The English born says he may sign a one year tender with the Bulls and then become a FA next summer. He says he would like to play for the Bulls but would consider a deal overseas. (Link) Billups Expects To Stay Pistons Chauncey Billups doesn't understand how he went from 'Mr. Big Shot' to 'Mr. Big Rumor'. Billups name has been thrown around this off-season and has raised questions of his future in Detroit. However, Billups still believes that he will be a Detroit Piston come season opener. (Link) Nets Krstic Goes Overseas Nets Center Nenad Krstic has left the team to go sign with an unspecified Russian club. The deal is worth $5 million a year over 2 years. The team failed to make a sign and trade deal for Krstic by midnight which enabled Krstic to leave the NBA. However, he is expected to come back to the Nets after the two year stint. (Link)
Fine, he's also adept at stealing little boys birthday cakes to chuck at teammates in a hotel lobby. Though he still fumbles those too.

Notice the trend of players going over there. Injury prone, hasn't lived up to full potential, restricted free agents on bolstered rosters (position wise), etc. I'm going to reach on a guestimate and predict Shaun Livingston as one of the next.
They had 16 guaranteed contracts and today waived both Taureen Green and Bobby Jones, both of whom they had just acquired. Its probably a prelude to more moves by Donnie Walsh to get rid of some sludge thats still remaining.
Regarding this whole Europe taking NBA players situation...Im not sure whether to be upset or to thank them for taking our mediocre garbage. Josh Childress, Nenad Krstic...who cares. No one in the NBA should be giving those guys the long term deals they were getting. And by Europe taking them thats less crappy players the Knicks cant get. I think Ill care if they take Danillo Gallinari back or if them take a player I like like Chris Paul. With the dollar the way it is though the NBA will have to do something because European teams are uncapped to the best of my knowledge. The biggest issue with European hoops is that its not unionized and some teams have held a reputation for not honoring contracts so the players are at their own risk. James Posey was offered a similar deal to Childress and turned it down for the aforementioned reasons. But for now we can thank Europe for improving the quality of NBA basketball.
Nice deal for the rockets. Hes the perfect complimentary player to Tmac. You put Tmac on the weaker offensive player when hes playing defense and let artest do what he does well, play d. His 3 point shooting should open up the post as well for Yao. Now the Rockets just need a PF upgrade and theyre going to be good.
Thanks Rev. How come you don't post with us here more often? I can see your a fellow Cane. I agree Boik.
I've become more of a reader than a poster in this forum. I really thought the Heat would try to land Okafur or Artest somehow. Oh, well. Go Canes!
Ooo. You should post when you have time. Would like to hear your opinions on transactions and rumors around the league.
no he doesn't. nobody air balls free throws all the time...lbj probably did it twice if that last season
It is believed that the unnamed player is rookie Donte Greene. Green was impressive in Summer League. He had 40 points in his first game.
Headlines Deng, Bulls Close To A Deal? ESPN.com is reporting that the Bulls and Forward Loul Deng are close to a deal believed to be worth $70 million. It is expected to be over 6 years. Late last year, Deng was offered a $57.5 million dollar deal but declined the deal. The Blazers were hoping to make a run at Deng but now that doesn't look like it will happen. (Link) Deals That Were Offered For Former Net Krstic It has been reported that the Nets were offered a sign and trade deal for Krstic. The team that offered it up was the Memphis Grizzlies. The Grizzlies offered up a package deal that included Kyle Lowry or Javaris Crittenton. The Nets had a choice between the two but did not choose either and let Krstic walk to Russia. (Link) Marbury Staying With Knicks For Two More Months? Knicks sources are reporting that the Knicks are hoping to make a trade instead of a release of PG Stephon Marbury. The source states that a move will not occur until "late September or early October". Also, in other news, Mike D'Antoni has commented on the trade of Renaldo Balkman. The reason behind the trade was that he "had no role after we drafted Gallinari". (Link) Bryant Praises Memphis Rookie Mayo At U.S. national team scrimmages, O.J. Mayo had the tough task of competing against league MVP Kobe Bryant. At first, Bryant completely shut Mayo down but as the scrimmage went on, Mayo got better and better. Kobe Bryant was reported as saying "I think he's extremely talented. I think he has a great overall game that a lot of young players don't have in terms of skills. He can handle, he can shoot, he can pass, he's fast, he's quick, so that's the whole package. It is also worth noting that Mayo hit a 69 foot shot in Summer League play. "(Link)
Its Amazing, absolutely amazing how much money Kwame Brown has stolen from NBA teams. He might be a decent bench option for the Pistons but the fact that a complete turd like him makes millions for basically not even trying just pisses me off. Kwame has talent, if he gave one single **** about being a good player he would be a good player. He was an overrated player in a very poor draft but he has enough talent to be a good NBA player. As a Wizards fan I absolutely hate Kwame Brown, I wouldn't piss on him if he was on fire.
If they can get Yao to play at least 60 games this year...Houston is now a serious contender. if Tmac doesn't get out of the first round this year, he should retire.
They now have two of the best small forward defenders on their team. Artest and Battier are going to give players all they can handle(Defensive Pressure), IMO. Rockets made some nice moves this off season.
Are you kidding? Kwame couldn't find Europe on a map if you told him it was about 12 inches to the right of the United States.
Luol Deng is not worthy of $13.3 million per season. He's an EXCELLENT player, but he doesn't have All-Star potential, much less superstar potential. IMO, he is what he is. He's a Josh Howard type. Anything more than $10 million per season for Deng is a major reach, and Chicago is going to pay in the long run for this contract along with Hinrich's. Let's see what they do with Ben Gordon.
I think they will sign Gordon to a one year tender and then let him walk or try to trade him next off-season or at least that is what I'd do. Gordon is a solid player off the bench. However, when starting, he's night and day. They're desperately trying to move Hinrich and I can't say I don't blame them. I still think Hinrich is a good player but they got Rose now and are paying both of them high salaries.
Hahaha! Europe makes another great deal! http://sports.yahoo.com/nba/blog/ball_dont_lie/post/The-NBA-Euro-exodus-continues-?urn=nba,96976
Damn, Shawn Kemp is going to have a baby mama in every country! By the year 2020 he will have his own country of all his kids and their kids....
