Saw Age of Ultron Friday with the whole family and we all loved it. As has been said, they managed to do the impossible and make Hawkeye an interesting character.

I liked Avengers II as well. The action scenes are more coordinated so it's less messy, not just mindless blowing up stuff.

+1 on Avengers. Amazing to see a movie with so many characters give quality time to each of them.

I enjoyed this quite a bit. It's not the typical low budget horror movie considering the Skype style it rolled with. Acting was shoddy obviously but it was pretty disturbing.

Also I did like how certain scenes in the trailer were not in the final cut (death scenes mainly).

An owner of a google like search engine, creates an A.I. and has a coder flown in to his home/bunker/research facility to test whether or not it could pass for human. The writer and director is the same guy who wrote Danny Boyle's Sunshine and 28 days later. Pretty good movie overall, I really liked it. I wouldn't say it's a super deep film in terms of exploring whether or not A.I. is real intelligence (aka human) but it is intriguing.

Speaking of AI, I finally got around to watching Blade Runner (1982). Great flick from a time when special effects were actually special.

Mrs. VO and I went to Mad Max: Fury Road yesterday. I had low expectations, despite the positive press I wasn't sure that Hardy could pull off Max, and I wasn't sure if director George Miller could pull off an action flick after years of Babe the Pig and Happy Feet. So I was a bit nervous. What I witnessed was a two hour gasoline fueled apocalyptic spectacle that is truly one of the greatest action films I've ever seen. Simply spectacular - and incredible considering that much of the movie is made up of practical effects. This was easly one of the best action movies I've seen in years and more than stands alongside the original films from the late 70s and early 80s. It's awesome. I loved every second of it. I am going to go check it out again in 3D just because I liked it that much. I can't recommend it enough.

    Agreed with VO.

Mad Max. 2 pages of dialogue. 130 pages of chase scenes!

Agree with everything you said, though you could probably skip the 3D. I saw it in 3D and besides a couple arbitrary "OMG debris is flying towards us in the theater" parts, most of the quality of the action scenes are probably accomplished enough that you don't need it. The movie is packed with so much detail, everything from the design of the cars to the look of the characters.. Truly amazing. Every single simple object in that movie has a Mad Max/George Miller touch. And Lenny Kravitz' daughter, Zoe.. hummenah hummenah hummenah.

was on the fence about seeing this movie today... it's the wifey's birthday and all. she said it got good reviews. I look at the trailer and think there is no way they could make it as unique and as special as the originals. I will likely go see this movie now after seeing your review VO. Thanks :wink2:

BTW, saw Draft Day this morning... finally got around to watching it on my DVR... hah... that's pretty hilarious... I mean look, I'm a fan of the draft.. a huge fan... and found myself getting immersed into this movie. I liked it.. i mean it held my attention... but it's completely silly at the same time. So if you're expecting a realistic movie about the draft, skip it.. but if you want to be entertained anyway... then you should have fun with it.

A realistic view of the draft would be boring as hell. Honestly I just don't think it's something that should have been made into a movie.

It's your GML experience in a nut shell.

We knew they'd be pushing the boundaries of fiction by making the Browns front office look like geniuses.

Watched Red 2 this weekend and liked it. Not quite as good as the original, but that's normal with sequals. Less laughs for sure, but well made and acted, and kept my interest the whole time. Worth seeing if you liked the first one, but maybe not if you didn't see it.

Mad Max was awesome, full of non stop action and nice not overly done special effects.

My GF and I enjoyed "The Interview" very much and we laughed throughout the movie.

My wife wants to see the Poltergeist remake but it's not getting great reviews.

I'm not huge into horror but if you haven't seen Cabin in the Woods you should check it out. And the new Del Torro movie looks creepy as hell.

Utter pile of dog crap. Ham-fisted message with thoroughly lazy writing behind cardboard cutout characters.

    Nice effects though.

Finally saw Ultron. Solid movie, loads of fun, every bit as fun as the first one. Would not say groundbreaking or anything, but I don't get the arguments about "too much" - I just want more. Marvel is putting things together well enough to not burn me out. Great job by Spader, nicely cast there. The eastern accents from Scarlet Witch and Quicksilver were kind of bad, but nothing you could easily look through. Hulk vs. Iron Man was nice, Cap going toe to toe with Ultron was a good touch (I like seeing him portrayed as the superhuman he is rather than just a shield throwing guy), Hawkeye getting extra face time was an interesting choice, but I think it worked to kind of offset the craziness. Looking forward to Civil War.

I had to turn it off like 20 minutes in when Costner's character was talking to the linebacker prospect while the prospect had his kids in the back of the car. Just awful, pander-y, condescending writing.

There's a New Zealand movie called Housebound that has it's moments, its split more along the lines of a horror/comedy. Most importantly, though, it's consistently entertaining throughout. I believe it's on Netflix now but I had first watched it about a year ago. Sinister was good until the ending, the second one looks terrible. While not necessarily a horror movie, Darren Aronofsky's "Pi" is mind-****y in a good way. These are just some random ones that popped into my head. I have Noroi and Lake Mungo queued up but I haven't watched them yet. Apparently Noroi is a horror classic (it's Japanese if you couldn't tell by the title of the movie).

I loved this movie , and the only negative was the ending .

However I think I didn't like the ending for a reason that is different than yours , and most. I liked how they went against the grain and got "back together " ... I can see the decision process and while it goes against the desires for most viewers , I get the ending.

What I didn't like about the ending was that it was so well done up till that point and that they didn't manage to get damning evidence on the wife was my negative . The house she was at was so high tech with cameras etc. and Neil Patrick Harris's character would have illicited his being awol big time and logically she would not have gotten away with it . The scene where she is bloddied , I don't know , maybe they cut some scenes they shouldn't have , but it took a leap there that wasn't plausible imo .
