You added the word ability to gifts, which is the same as talent as previously discussed. I understand the semantics problem we are having now. You are talking potential.

Parker has yet to show that his gifts can beat a good NFL cornerback. That he can take NFL hits. That he can play a 16 to 20 game season. He has all of the potential in the world. If we are just talking potential, he could equal Warfield. The way they move jump and catch are very similar. Until Parker proves it, we are just talking potential though.

Yeah, talent is not a very well-defined concept anyway, so this whole conversation as you pointed out suffers from semantics issues, as well as our lack of ability to really predict what a person can learn or not learn. Anyway, it's ultimately getting to the famous nature/nurture debate, and the current scientific viewpoint is that genes specify the potential for something to occur, but the environment decides what potential is realized. Seen from that perspective, all the things we've been calling "talent" have an environmental component to them, if for no other reason that you need to eat to survive.

you captured the positive and negative of parker's game. he doesnt beat press coverage that well right now and he's going to see that a lot more in the nfl then college. also he tends to not have the sharpest breaks or cuts in his routes. the radius is great but you gotta get open. at this stage he could be anywhere from oj mcduffie to andre johnson. dont know where he'll end up in a couple of years. thats up to his ability to improve on his weaknesses

Well, DeVante is a Miami Dolphin now and you know what?, I hope he becomes the greatest Dolphin receiver of all time..I wanted someone else, but Parker is the pick now and he will get my support 100%…cannot wait to see him burn the DB's in our division.

fantastic picture that has to be like 12 foot up! I can imagine Parker is going to make Tannehil look alot better this year with his ability to catch those balls our old receivers wouldn't attempt

Parker hates the spotlight and he's shy so his interviews are always going to be like that.

    The dude is all business.

He reminds me of AJ Green. And I love me some AJ Green. That catch radius is awesome.

If OJ McDuffie is his floor and A Johnson is his ceiling then I am VERY happy with the pick lol

Rumor has it, that this wasn't even the high point of his leap.

They're re-designing the practice bubble to accommodate for his vertical.

Different type of WR than OJ. I'd say Gadsden is his floor.

Before Junior Griffey, I used to say the same thing about the old Cub, Billy Williams. Wish I could have seen Shoeless Joe Jackson in person. None other than Ty Cobb called Jackson the most natural hitter he ever saw. Babe Ruth said he modeled his swing after Jackson's. Ernie Shore said, you didn't even need to see Jackson hit the ball to know it was him. The sound was different than anyone else.

Fryar's two best seasons were 1996 and 97, after he left the Dolphins. So to say we got him after his prime is not really accurate.
