Ahh but you can because thats exactly what it is. Ive already proven you can move unwanted players and still not give up assets on 3 separate occasions.
The person I'm disappointed in is Bdog for sacrificing his own integrity [via these silly trades] in order to further his friend UCF's dishonest agenda. I know he's your friend and all but just say you want no part in it dude, b/c he's now screwing you over too by making you his accomplice.
So Im looking to acquire a solid veteran receiver and I'm willing to give up pick 2.37 to get it done. If you have something in mind, lets get something worked out.
Thanks Todd, very classy of you to bring me into it . A good deal was offered to me, I accepted it. I wasn't trying to help him be "dishonest"...I think anyone would've accepted that had it been offered to them. As I've said previously, I didn't think it was anything shady at the time; It seemed like a clever allocation of resources, but apparently a handful of other GMs thought differently. I disagree, but that seems like a moot point, so I'm moving on. I suggest you and everyone else do the same as well.
Look, who's right and who's wrong doesn't matter, all that matters is that BABY GRONK is on the trade block! Come with your checkbooks open ladies, lets get a deal done. http://www.csnne.com/new-england-patriots/volin-sudfeld-baby-gronk-0
It's not just me, as others have pointed out that they wouldn't have accepted those trades either as they clearly lend the appearance of shenanigans. Respectfully, I didn't bring you into it; you unfortunately did when you let yourself get involved. There's a reason UCF came to you with these ridiculous proposals in the first place, and that's because you're his trustworthy friend and he knew you'd probably go along with them, whereas other GMs might call out their questionable nature and nip his agenda in the bud. Respectfully, agree to disagree about a "clever allocation of resources". There was nothing clever about it. UCF was under a short deadline to clear the cap space needed in order to bid on Gipson. So he dialed up a friend and lopsidedly dumped salary on him. Then he offered irrefusable trades to others for more immediate, questionable salary dumping, and he went so far as putting Matt Ryan on the trade block in order to afford Gipson [WHUT?!!]. All the more questionable is the fact he said he had 0 intention of doing exactly what he did- dismantling his team, ruining continuity, and scouring for trades to cut cap space. I obviously can't say that I think you were implicitly trying to "help" him be dishonest, as I'm not sure you knew the extend of what he was doing or had done, but that doesn't change the fact that he obviously rushed to his trustworthy friend during a time of need to beat the closing Gipson deadline, and you in turn assisted his agenda w/o questioning the nature of these crazy trades... or maybe you did but didn't care, who knows. The thing I question is GIK announced the illegitimacy of UCF's Gipson bid at 2pm, and by 4pm you coincidentally had a "Salary Dump" thread created in the Trade Forum, and then shortly thereafter you and your friend UCF were engaging in these ridiculous trades. I won't make collusion accusations, but I will say the highly coincidental series of events look suspicious, bordering on the whole "if it looks like a duck" cliche. It almost looks like you both preemptively tried to cover your tracks by creating a "Bengals Salary Dump thread" alibi shortly before your trades b/c you're both smart, veteran GMs who well know that the trades would probably draw some heat. Now, had UCF's trades involved a modicum of balance, it might've taken him days to trade away the cap space needed to beat the Gipson deadline [just as I've had Cherilus on the block for a month], and he knew this, which is why he immediately called up friends and went trade silly. If UCF can't afford to bid on FAs w/o the need for last-second shady salary dumps, then he shouldn't be entitled to bid up those GMs who actually ANTICIPATED their cap needs and freed up the necessary cap space the right way and w/o the league calling out their integrity. If a GM leaves himself unprepared to afford his top FA target despite having 5 weeks and a full roster of players with which to create the necessary cap room, then he doesn't deserve to bid on the player. UCF's excuse was, "well, unlike everyone else I kept most of my team intact so I needed to make these last second moves". Bzzzt, that works against him, not for him. He knew when Free Agency commenced; he knew who his targets are; he should've known roughly how much money he needed allocated toward spending [and it's not like he didn't have a spread sheet to assist him], and he should've had his cap situation fairly close to where it needed to be when FA arrived. He misjudged his required cap space so badly it's not funny, to the tune of like 17 million over the cap with draft picks included, and he still wanted more FAs on top of that. That's HIS ERROR. He's had roughly 5 weeks like the rest of us to utilize trades to create any necessary cap room to go after coveted FAs, but if he wants to be a proctrastinator about it, then that's what he gets. If he's trying to have his cake and eat it to by holding onto his players as long as possible b/c he feels entitled to questionably dumping them at a moments notice w/o recourse, then he shouldn't deserve to bid on the FAs he couldn't afford prior. He snafu'd himself, and that's on him. That's the last full Todd you guys are getting for a while so try to get your fill in now.
You're a lot nicer here compared to when you were going full Todd on me back in 2012. Also, I'll probably have my Konz trade reversed to distance myself from this whole sordid affair.
Thank you? Hey, I try. That was uncalled for back then, even if you were in the wrong [which I'm not saying you were], it was still uncalled for my friend. Actually Schis, I haven't received a real infraction in over 2 years even though my posts are more heavily scrutinized than most..... yet ironically some people around here, including Mods, act as if I still receive them on a monthly basis or something. But hey, at least I let the league derive pages and pages worth of fun at my expense without me taking exception and ruining the party amIright. #Todderisms #6paragraphTodd #NeverGoFullTodd #etcetera #AdNauseam #WhateverFollowsAdNauseaum
Well I've always played it the same way, and turning my attention from Flynn to Alex Smith was the right move and to take a min bid away from Kelly Gregg because he did indeed retire that offseason as I stated news articles said. Couldn't help it that you weren't prepared for the "snipe" like every other GM was use to.
His intent has nothing to do with me. We discussed doing a salary dump around the same time, you just decided it wasn't for you and that your financial situation had changed since you were first offering up,Cherilus and a pick. In reality, what you were asking from others isn't all that much different, aside you would've asked for a 7th for appearances. I didn't have a 7th, or a 6th or,a 5th for that matter. Could've traded a reserve, but what was the point if he was going to cut him? I asked pleny of teams about dumping salary, UCF just had the best offer. I personally don't care what other GMs do, I think I've made that clear from the start. I focus on my team and have tried to refrain from commenting on moves others have made, good or bad, but the past couple days has made it hard to overlook some of the hypocrisy around here (not specifically just you Todd).
lol I'm so confused as to why Todds even involved in this for 1... And for 2, yall keep justifying the trade with Todds trade block advertisement, that GiK would have vetoed lol
If someone advertises "free bike" and then you get arrested for taking the free bike your lawyer would justify your actions by pointing out the advertisement.
what does that have to do with the manager of a bike shop giving away a pair of perfectly good bikes that he should've gotten money for had he simply advertised on Craigslist and waited for a buyer?
So will the ravens cheerleaders. Fortunately for us all pff for cheerleaders grades on chest size and booty shape!
