This pretty much sums up my thoughts as well. I'll add this as well, having learned more about Chris Kyle after seeing the movie, I feel less impressed tbh. Maybe he was just trying to sell books, but the inconsistencies in his stories kind of ruins the mystique. I don't feel any reason to see it twice, despite liking it the first viewing.

Zombie Fight Club: Surprisingly decent action. Worthwhile only if you're into Zombie films. The main Chinese girl is a dime piece too.

The Hobbit: Battle of the Five Armies - I enjoyed it, but it was missing something for me. I didn't find it as good as the other two.

Theory About Everything - 3/5 Great acting, especially Stephen Hawking's part, but it is based on his ex-wife's book so there's a heavy bias around the story and the events.
Whiplash - 4/5 Intense film, with intriguing plot and characters. This one surprised me.
Nightcrawler - 4/5 The whole subject matter was very interesting and Gyllenhaal did a great job for his weird kinda role.
Birdman - 5/5 Awesome film. Not much else to say
Boyhood - 2/5 Bored me to death. Story didn't go anywhere. Movie has been promoted as watching the actors grow up in front of you. That's actually all you get.

Enemy with Jake Gyllenhall....he's great as usual. Confusing movie from start to finish, but can't really say much more about w/out revealing what actually happened.

Draft Day. Really didn't have even good expectations for this movie, but I was pleasantly surprised. Even my wife, who doesn't like football, really enjoyed it.
Loved seeing the Tannehill jerseys in the crowd.

The spiders symbolizes how he views women and his fear of being trapped by them. He's really both people and the whole movie is him struggling with continuing to try to cheat on his gf vs being w her completely.

It felt rushed. Not the production (though it may have been), but the pacing was strange. I hated the beginning, I felt like the beginning should have been the end of the last one if you know what I mean. I didn't read the book so I didn't know what to expect.

Anyways, I just watched this the other night:

    And it was pretty good.

Birdman. Very good, beautifully shot and acted.

50 Shades, but the movie was terrible compared to the overall THEME of the book which by the way, wasn't about kinky sex...it was about women's deep desire to be taken care of.

So if you disliked the movie (which is understandable) and haven't read the trilogy (and she has), then you missed the point why your wife/gf was so eager to jump your bones when you got home.

Wish I could remember her name, but I heard a female comic say once

Read the trilogy then you'll have a better understanding

Don't have a desire to read this trilogy. But I was definitely a beneficiary of many evenings when I got home from work and my wife was reading the books.

Moonrise Kingdom. Was a puzzling movie until I realized that it must have been the same director as Grand Budapest. amusing movie, but not great.

on netflix: Wild Bill - 8/10 -- A story of redemption without all the campy stuff.
Mean Machine - 7/10 -- retelling of the longest yard but with soccer. Not much new here, but an enjoyable movie.

In theaters: McFarland USA - 7/10 -- Usual sports story. I did, however, enjoy the subtle nature of it all.

Cheap Thrills is one of the darkest movies I've ever seen. The realism is what made my skin crawl. That baby is gonna be scarred for life.

The effects were realistic, but I thought it kept a pretty light-hearted tone until the very end. The end was awesome though.

The visual effects were very realistic no question, but the story story itself was incredibly effective. I think everyone knows at least one dude who would put himself through what these two did, for money. Craig's transition from need to greed was particularly jarring because in a way, we can all relate. This movie was also effective in the sense that I didn't feel the need to suspend my disbelief at any point (except for the bit of "mugging a guy who happens to be a martial arts expert" stuff). It is a great exposé of some of the more extreme corners in the human condition; IMO none of which portrayed in the movie are too far beyond the reach of most people.

Also succeeds in painting a scary picture of what the power of money in the hands of sick people can accomplish.

Interstellar --- really didn´t live up to the hype for me...pretty boring over stretches and stretches
Horrible Bosses 2 ------ hilarious, one of few movies where you could make a case that part 2 is better than part 1, but thats no knock, both are very funny
    Blackhat --- OK..nothing more
Gone Girl ----- Crazy Stuff by David Fincher...although the ending is kind of strange,if you haven´t watched, i would strongly recommend to do so
    Focus ---- See Blackhat

Whiplash - 10 out of 10....awesome movie. Reminded me of my high school football coach.
American Sniper - 8 out of 10....really good. The ending was....I don't want to spoil it.
    Interstellar - 8 out of 10...great ending.
The Hobbit, Battle of the 5 Armies - 4 out of 10....I loved the first 2, but this one sucked. Total letdown, especially Smaug.
Top Five - 10 out of 10...Chris Rock always delivers. He's not for everyone though.
Birdman - 7 out of 10....pretty good. It kept my attention.
Furious 7 - 8 out of 10....lots of action, which is my kind of movie. The ending was cool (RIP Paul Walker)
Once Upon A Time in Shanghai - 9 out of 10....this guy is the next Bruce Lee. The final fight scene is great.

I actually just watched this last night. I really enjoyed it, though I probably wouldn't give it as high a score as you.

I'd probably put the final Hobbit at like 6/10 also. I do agree with was a let down.
