Yes it's a poll. And it's a public poll :shifty: Is this going to be arguably the biggest free agent acquisition in Dolphins history OR do you get the feeling that we're going to whiff? We've added Wallace... we've added Albert... both were high priced additions certainly. So Ross does have the ability to close and he has the deep pockets. But is this really going to happen?? What do you think?

    My gut says no.

He's a great player but Miami has tried the big name free agents almost every year for as long as I've been a fan and I'd like to see it stop.

Also--and not that this really matters much to me--but I think he's a bad dude. I would not particularly look forward to rooting for a guy I think is unquestionably dirty.

we seem to be inactive so far and the way philbin is we may not make any moves until the draft and by that time all the good players will be off the board. so my answer is probally not.

I still can't believe there aren't more teams involved.

Seriously. Ndamukong Suh is a free agent, and the only teams known to be interested are us, Indy, Oakland and Jacksonville.

Even Detroit, if they had really wanted him, could've done stuff over the last year or two to get ready. They didn't.

What do all the smart teams in this league know that we don't?

Indy is one thing, but when you're lumped with Oakland and Jacksonville something is wrong.

That's why there has to be a mystery team. Or this just doesn't make sense. How are we the favorites? Why?

Because it's a lot of cap space. Whether or not it's a good use of cap resources, provided he signs here, is to be determined.

On the other hand, what is in the water that makes everyone so quick to deify Suh?

He's a good player for sure but the contract is going to be huge and most teams don't want that hassle. It's not like we're talking about a QB that could instantly take you to legitimacy. Look at how talented the Lions are. The have the best DT, the best WR, a decent secondary, several good RBs and a great QB and yet they are still not a dominant team that can make it past Dallas.

Add in his character issues and the commodity of Suh can easily become the Mercedes Benz that sits in front of the mobile home. I can totally understand that.

It's a lot of reasons. Some dont have cap space, many already have good DTs, some are already planning to spend big elsewhere. Falcons & Giants were very interested too, and I'd say more likely than Jax tbh. You always have a handful of teams emerge for a top FA. Teams already have planned what they are looking for, and not everyone is looking for a 15+ mill DT, just because he is the best in the NFL.

My gut tells me yes. Writing is on the wall like it was for Mike Wallace and Branden Albert. Get ready for Suh guys. This will make the draft all the more exciting.

I think yes more and more. No other FA news for us really except revis mumblings. I think we get Suh. It fills a big hole we had with our run D down the stretch.

Yes. Stephen Ross likes splashy headlines. He wants star power. Suh is one of the biggest names to hit the FA market in years. I don't know if it's a good idea, I'm torn. But I do think he comes to south beach.

If he wants to win, I think he picks Indy. They have Luck and a good organization it seems. If he wants $$$ he may pick a southern team that pays big.

    I didn't know this. I said No...but.

I want to sign him, but I just don't think it'll happen. I think he'll get a better offer from one of the cap rich sh*tty teams and end up going for where the biggest money figure is.

I'll agree I like the propsect a bit more here than I did with Wallace ...but similarly, I don't think its franchise changing or worth the money.

If we sign him, I hope I'm wrong

If Suh keeps up his current rate of play it is adding a future hall of famer to the defensive line. I do think it is franchise changing.

Will it get Miami out of mediocrity and into the playoffs? I do think it increases the chance.

Heck Miami probably would have made the playoffs this season if Albert did not get hurt. Now imagine Ellerbe, Wheeler, Mitchell and Gibson were not on the team this season, and Miami had Suh instead.

Do you think they would be a much better team?

I've been reading here and there about how the Fins are 'close' to and want Suh and that he wants us and all that BS, but until it actually happens, I won't get my hopes up.... I remember Peyton Manning frenzy a couple of yrs ago...it was a lock per many that we'd get him...how'd that turn out ?? Anywho, the Fins, under Ross, have gotten my hopes up too many times to think this will actually happen...another stud (with reservations) that will break the heart of Fins Fans....

I'm always wary when the current team (the Lions in this case) is said to still be in the running. That makes me think a salary leverage ploy is in the works. He could very well sign with the Lions for less than the Dolphins offer, and consider it a success simply because it's far more than the Lions would've offered otherwise.

Business wise it may be worth it. Suh is gonna excite the fan base in a major way. But in terms of improving the team I'm not at all convinced it'd be a good move.

He will win his matchup every single time if not double teamed...three downs..

That's one of his best features. Makes me think of the last time we made the playoffs. The Ravens defense was extremely mean to us. I feel like I can recall more than one cheap shot during that game.

Give me a defense of the meanest group of athletic beasts you can get please. I don't care if people call us dirty, as long as we're not cheats.

We arent talking about the wallace signing or something here. At this rate he is a lock in HOFer and probably the biggest free agent of the last multiple decades, will be going down as one of the biggest FAs of ALL TIME... not to mention the highest paid nonqb in the entire NFL for the foreseeable future.. That impression didn't just magically happen... The guy is an absolute animal in its elitest form. A few weeks/months ago we didn't even think we were in the race and now we are leading it. So obviously the hype starts now, there wasn't any reason for it before (for us). He changes the entire dynamic of our defense and paired with arguably the best 4-3 end in football it gives us one of the scariest d-lines in the league. If not one of the best on paper. A d-line that will be a seriously huge crutch for every other aspect of our team. If you witnessed last season you saw the defense lay down like a joke. Multiple times. The potential upgrade it would bring if it all pans out is just astronomical. If you can't see that, it's blinders or you don't know much about the player.

See, this is my point. The idea that he wins all 1 on 1 matchus is mythical. Watch him vs Pouncey last year, it was pretty much a draw and we all know Pounce isn't at his best playing RG. The more important issue is that having a great DT doesn't affect the game enough to justify 17 million per season. I don't care if he's going to the HOF. He's 28, probably has 2-3 prime years left so why pay him all that $$$ on a 6 year deal?
