So if Whiteside continues to blossom into this monster center.....how much is Lebron chomping at the bit to play with him? In South Beach
lol would never happen and I'll take Deng, Dragic and Whiteside over Lebron. Just need Bosh and McRoberts back and get some 3 point shooters.
So you wouldn't even necessarily forecast them going after a more athletic guy to play the 3 spot? Stick with Deng?
Skolnick: Heat potentially a championship contender next year if everybody comes back, including Mcbob or if he's flipped for something else. Heat not concerned about having enough money in 2016 even after potential maxes to Whiteside and dragic.
Also, Javale McGee and Celtics did not agree to terms and Celtics have decided to pass, so we cans till get him if we want to dump somebody
For cap reasons...yes. I want his contract to expire in 16'....so if you feel you are not good enough to win it all in 15'-16'...you then have the money to improve the team by improving on the base of Dragic/Wade/Bosh/Whiteside. I give next year's team a chance. Doesn't work out? simple....the guys you NEED to replace, expire anyway at seasons end....(good cap management)
Lebby being a kill joy today, as usual. Dragic doesn't need to get the max necessarily. We just need to give him more than the Lakers, etc., can offer him
Here's the deal with 2016. Taking a real look at the list of FAs, excluding restricted guys. Kevin Durant is really the only guy that makes sense for us beyond what we already have. I love Conley, but I'm not giving up the Dragic we already have for just a chance at him. I like Horford and Howard too, but I'd rather have Whiteside than them. We already have Bosh, so potential FA like Aldridge and Love don't make any sense. Which means it's KD or bust in terms of making a huge move. So, I think you need to have some idea of whether or not you're in the running for KD this summer. If you get some positive vibes then great. I'm all for taking the chance. But if not, I'd sign Dragci to whatever it took to secure him, sign a midlevel guy like Danny green (who is exactly what we need0, sign Whiteside to the max in 2016 and then use the remainder of our cap space on solid depth guys.
Fully agree. Dragic even better than I thought, since he strapped on a Heat uniform. Has off shooting days basically every other game but still operates the offense. Love what he brings. Think he will start being more consistent when he actually knows Heat play book, system and players, all that.
Bulls/OKC game was great to watch. Russ Wesbrook blew the game in the final seconds. He shot an airball when he had an opportunity to put them up by 3 with just seconds left. Then, he leaves his man who hits the game winning three. And with 4 seconds left, he steps outta bounds. Bad way to finish the game.
http://bleacherreport.com/articles/...-game-changing-transition-with-the-miami-heat Great piece on Goran Dragic's arrival in Miami. read it. Great "Heat culture" Nuggets in there.
Breaking per Jason Liesser: Dragic stated that he will decline his player option and re-sign with team as long as offer is "good". Will not negotiate with other teams. Good news and seems like we can get him for less than the max, just need to beat the non-bird Rights max, which is completely fair.
Great nugget that Miami had tried to get him a few years ago when he was in Houston. Also fun to hear what an impact Luol Deng is having off the court. Of course this final paragraph is just porn for Heat fans:
I think five years 80 will do it.. And then that would shut everyone up that said we would be paying 20m per
My favorite part of the article: Even if we take a little bit off Whiteside’s totals, bringing him down to a rebounding percentage of 20, a block percentage of 8 and a true-shooting percentage of 60, the list of players to reach all three marks in a single season in the last 30 years is: 1. Hassan Whiteside 2. End of List Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Looks like Deng won't go tonight. Chalmers questionable. Errrgh. Who gets minutes on the wing?? Fortunately the Wiz have been straight terrible over the past month+.
Incredible comeback by the scrubs. Whiteside never went back in after 20 minutes. Guys like Beasley, Johnson, Napier, Ennis and Anderson with a 35 point comeback. Happy to see James Ennis get back on track making some threes and being a threat.
Whiteside has got to chill with the technical fouls. Someone mentioned he already has 9... he hasn't even played the full season... I know it's frustrating being a center but he needs to keep his composure
Someone needs to show him the tapes of how teams used to play Shaq once he started dominating under the basket. Fouled the living sh-t out of him constantly, wasn't called nearly as much as it occurred.
Good. I don't want my Knicks overpaying for a PG. I'd rather them spend like 5M on a Patrick Beverly or a Mario Chalmers type then 15-20M on a Dragic who I don't believe can be the first or second best player on a championship team... Not to say Dragic isn't good, it's just not necessary in the triangle.
But you can understand why we would pay the $15mil for him to be the 3rd/4th (If Wade is playing) best player on the team? Patrick Beverly is a GREAT pickup for the MLE. RIO as well, to be honest.
If he can make 75% of his free throws people will back off and stop hacking him. The big guys always get abused. If they called all of the fouls on Shaq that he received he'd have shot 40 free throws a night.
I still can't believe we came back to almost win from down 35 on the Wiz with our C Team. There is something wrong with Washington...they seem done. BTW..bigger issue with Whiteside last night, was he was warned by the Refs that he would be ejected if he argued another call...and then Spo benched him. There is one of those maturity issues creeping up.
of course I could understand it. Dragic is a good player. I just don't want him at that price tag because the triangle doesn't require a ball dominant pg which dragic at time can be. He wasn't happy playing off the ball in Phoenix so I think Miami is a good fit for him. I'm not so sure ny would be.
