Motorist's quip about 'Grey Poupon' met with cocked, black handgun
Article Last Updated: 07/23/2008 10:48:39 AM MDT

A Sandy man took offense to a motorist, who, after getting him to roll down his window, asked, "Excuse me, sir, do you have any Grey Poupon?"

After hearing the request for Dijon mustard, the 22-year-old driver pulled a black handgun from his glove compartment, cocked the weapon and pointed it at the three people in the other car.

"Here's your Grey Poupon, roll your [expletive] windows up," he responded.

The confrontation happened June 18 at the intersection of 900 East and Winchester Street (6500 South) in Murray, court documents state.

One of the three people in the car wrote down the SUV's license plate number.

Murray police later located the man, who admitted to an officer that he pulled out the gun, racked the slide and threaten the other car.

He was charged Tuesday with aggravated assault, a third-degree felony.

I dont blame that guy for pulling a gun. Talk about an overrated, over-used joke...

Some people don't need guns! sounds as if this guy had the brains of a pissant! I have guns with me almost daily, and have for over 20 years, and would never pull one over a stupid thing like that!

A few years ago, I got into with a guy, and he jumped out with some kind of handgun, like a 45, and he fired off 5 or 6 rounds. Thank God he couldn't hit the broad side of a barn!! Take it from me, its a pretty scary situation to be in.

I once got into it with some dude..and I very politely asked him: "Okay..then you seem ready to settle this outside..." we both went outside of this bar and he quickly took a detour to his car and pulled what looked like a Berretta (9mm). I walked right back into the bar and told the bouncer, (a friend of mine) about it. Not only did he get arrested, but he then got beaten to a pulp by my friend the next time he showed up there. I never got the pleasure of caving his face in. That is my regret.

In the end...The cops proved that he indeed had a loaded weapon and I had witnesses that said he pulled it out of his car. Since they could not prove that he was going to use it, and he claimed he wasn't (had no prior record) All he got was probation and community service.

Times aren't what they used to be, when people settled stuff with fists. those days are long gone. you are so much better off just to walk away. took me many years to figure that out. thats what marriage and kids do for you.

regardless of his intent, "he pulled it" should equal aggravated assault. showing someone a loaded weapon is immediately considered aggravated assault, regardless if you point it at them or not.

This was in 1997 or so. Gun laws weren't like they are today.

Damn right and here you go to jail, you don't pass goal or collect anything but a busted head from the cops.

And the other side of that stupid coin is that the other guy now has the "right" to blow you away. As has been said before "mommie didn't feed them that morning."
