I agree, Manning has been such a 'stats' QB his whole career. He shells up in the playoffs, gimme Eli in playoffs over Peyton.
I really don't understand why these records always come up when it comes to comparing indiviual players. To me football is the ultimate team sport and while the QB is the most important position, it also seems to be the most overrated.
Do you not see how well praised Peyton has been in regular season for his team winning only to choke in a majority of playoff games?
Bythe way Denvers defense is very overrated, trust me that they benefit not having to be on the field long since Peyton is usually controlling TOP. But when Denvers defense is on the field for a while they give up big plays left and right..
Yes, I've also seen enough football games to know how good playoff football looks like. And I know how the Colts where build for many years and how the Pats were build. Edit: And that is why Marino is 8-10 in the playoffs and Dilfer/Sanchez are 9-3
Compare the coaches and the teams each has led. Bill Belichick vs. Mora, Dungy, Caldwell, Fox. None of those coaching matchups are close, IMO, but coaching is also never considered. Brady won a ton of those playoff games as the game manager of a great defensive team. Manning had the team on his shoulders every year. In the biggest game of the century, with the best offense of the century, Brady led his historic offense to 14 points against a Wild Card team that the Patriots put 38 up on just a few weeks prior. That's a pretty big discrepancy between regular season performance and Super Bowl performance against the same opponent. But that Super Bowl loss was somebody else's fault, as it always is. Note that in today's game, a great play for a strip sack was referred to as a "Manning fumble" by Nantz before a commercial break. If that same play happens against Brady, he goes to break not talking about a "Brady fumble," but a great play for a strip sack. I'm not saying Brady isn't a first ballot hall of famer, but I am suggesting that Brady's mythology exceeds anything he has actually done on a football field. He's like Paul Bunyan when it comes to quarterbacks.
Told you all before the game... That arm is done.... Theres no way in hell the Broncos have a better shot at beating nEw England with Peytons arm being as weak as it is... luck is the best shot
Dan played basically his whole career without a running game.. Peyton has had Edgerrin James, Joseph Addai/D. Rhodes a majority of his career. Despite, Manning having 1 SB win and Dan zero, you can make an argument that Peyton underachieved while Dan did the best he could with what he was surrounded with.
Exactly. The Pats won the Superbowls with alltime great defenses. Once they started building the team around Brady, Manning started winning the head-to-head matchups and the Pats started losing playoff games. And while their D is not as great as in the past, it's really good despite yesterdays outing. That's why they have a better chance this year than in 2007. But if they win, I'll know who will get all the credit next to Belichick.
So basically you are implying that the Patriots would have been won the same number of playoff games, with or without Brady as their QB. I just don't believe that. Funny how Belichick was seen as a losing coach in Cleveland when he had a very average QB, but he is now seen as one of the greatest coaches in NFL with Brady as the his QB. If you look at the regular season record of teams with Manning as their starting QB, it certainly appears that the players with Manning were good enough to win far more games than they lost. I just don't think Manning is as good as Brady in the big games. I have no problem with you disagreeing with me, but it is just the way I feel about these two QB's once the playoffs begin.
More important than the running game is that they both didn't have good defenses (like Brady had) and they could never overcome that. When the Colts won the Superbowl, their D played much better than in the regular season, especially against the run. That was the difference that year.
No, with me as their QB they wouldn't have scored a single point on offense. And they wouldn't have won as many Superbowls with Marc Sanchez. But yes, I truely belive they would have won as many with Manning and I don't belive that Brady would have won more Superbowls with the Colts who could not defend anything.
Nah, I dont buy that, a good RB is a GREAT QBs best friend. Dan never had one (K. Abdul Jabbar? Lol exactly), Meanwhile, Peyton had a great RB (E James) and good RB (Addai/Rhodes)... Defense was similar in both situations. Peyton should have 3 SB rings with the great running games hes been blessed with.
playoffs average: Addai 3.9 Rhodes 4.2 James 3.9 Well, if that is what your best friend does for you, good luck. Edit: I rather take an alltime defense that plays like this in the playoffs.
I didn't think the debate was Tom Brady vs. anybody off the street, but Tom Brady vs. Peyton Manning. As such: I think a Peyton Manning-Bill Belichick combination wins 5-6 Super Bowls. I think a Tom Brady Jim Mora-Tony Dungy-Jim Caldwell-John Fox combination probably doesn't win any Super Bowls. JMO, as always.
I absolutley love it, LOL at Garrett, Bryant, Romo arguing against the rule book.. HAHA Learn the rule book cowboys. Not every rule is gonna get changed in the middle of the game like last week!
The Broncos can't pressure the QB or cover the short passes. I really don't want to see them against the Pats. Though I don't see the Colts winning that either. Oh well, Go Sehawks.
It does look like he isn't getting any zip on the ball, but they keep trying deep passes. I'm not sure I get why that is happening.
Anybody who drops a pass with T.J. Ward breathing down his neck gets a pass from me. Nice throw and catch by Luck and Fleener there. Right into a small window.
Luck creating a TD with his feet, arm, and vision. Great play! I wonder if DJ is still wearing pants...
Peyton woulda won this game had it been in Indy, his ego wouldn't have allowed him to lose in his former hometown.
There's no doubt DJ is correct in his analysis on RW3 and AL12, these guys are on different levels then any young QB in NFL, probably any QB in NFL besides AR12 at this point.
Absolutely. I do think Tannehill has the athletic ability, if not the game experience, to do it at some point. I'm reminded of this clip. Tannehill is Jon Favreau here. Clip NSFW (language).
Looks like both divisional championship games will be rematches that were blow outs. Go Packers and Colts. Sent from my Nexus 10 using Tapatalk
Right now, Tannehill is the QB in a PG-13 movie. I want Tannehill to become the QB in the Rated-R movie. Someday.
