The data actually does back me up. Check Ryan Tannehill's stats vs top ten defenses. Most importantly check how many points scored in those games.

Check his fourth quarter numbers, his second half numbers against those defenses. Ive already did and theyre all below average to slightly average.

Well thank the gods, now I know the secret to making the playoffs is to turn Ryan Tannehill into an escape artist in the pocket. Build an offensive line? Bah, that's so 2012. Rely on a defense to not give up 32 points a game.. Well that is just being silly. Ask receivers to catch the ball? well that's dumb, why even have recievers just let 17 run it down the field 40 times a game.

no VT, I don't agree, do whatever it takes to win..thats the philosophy I adhere to, and to achieve that, I use my most important player best assets.

There are likely roughly a half-dozen teams in the league that didn't make the playoffs but would have if they would've had Seattle's defense, which surrendered the fewest points in the league, was ranked #1 in passing yards surrendered, #2 in YPA surrendered, #3 in rushing yards surrendered, and #2 in yards per carry surrendered. Does that mean each of those teams' fans should feel better about their QBs than they do?

Well then I guess it's gonna suck for you to have to watch our average QB play for the next 5 years or so.

You all can blame wallace and the receivers all you want but ive seen Brady win with Jabar Gaffney as his number one and that guys hands are pathetic compared to our receivers. Franchise quarterbacks know how to win, period.

hyperbole..lets talk one thing at a time, how is the qb going to improve..this debate is because you think he's fine as is, just need the variables to improve..I think the coordinator needs to get his head out his *** and so does the qb.

And do you think each and every one of those teams would trade their QB for Tannehill? You think Buffalo wouldn't love to have 17. Better yet, you think KC wouldn't trade Alex Smith for Tannehill in a heart beat?

Hell..heres a question for all you. Would you trade Tannehill for a 3rd round pick? For a 2nd round pick?

Wasn't that the year that the Pats defense was allowing like 16 points a game? And Vinatieri was winning everything with his foot? And Brady was king of the despised "dink and dunk" offense?

That's 2.89 per game for Tannehill, and 2.44 per game for Rodgers.

Russell Wilson is a once in a 15 year QB DJ. Jesus.. Why did he fall to the third round if he was such a foregone conclusion.

You have about as good a chance of getting the next Tom Brady as you do a Russell Wilson. Get over it.. 17 Is NOT RW

lol... Hell, there's a guy on another forum arguing to trade Tannehill and Wallace straight up to the Browns for Manziel and Gordon. Playmakers! Superbowl! Dafuq?! Craziness abounds.

nothing is set in stone, the online factor may be the determining factor in him getting that extra second to start the playmaking process...thats the only hope we have ya know, cause as is, it aint good enough, pocket, outside the pocket, whatever..we all better hope that the lack of agility, escapability, peripheral stuff all better drastically improve with one more second of time..this is where i hope that I'm not accounting for..

and Aaron Rogers had been in the league how long then? You can't compare a Hall of Fame Veteran QB to Ryan Tannehill in the first three seasons of his career

This absurd dj I don't know why you have drug in so hard and won't see your fixated on one aspect of being a qb. Fact is no run first qb has ever one a super bowl Wilson is not a run first qb. Ryan is not that type of qb would love tohave wWilson he was my fav qb in that draft

That said Ryan can make plays and won games but no qb will overcome defensive gaffes like ours had, its impossible

Actually that is not the case

    2. Ranked 28th with 6.86 yards/attempt (in 2013, ranked 27th with 6.66 yards/attempt). Let's add some perspective to this stat considering offensive coordinator Bill Lazor considers it the primary one for a quarterback's effectiveness. In the opening three games of this new offense, Tannehill averaged 5.08 yards per attempt. That's pretty bad. But as he grew more comfortable in the offense (and teammates did, too), he averaged 7.32 yards per attempt over the final 13 games. That would rank him 14th in the league. You could do this with every stat. It would cast a different light and shows his development through the year as he grew more comfortable in the offense.

I want to be a dynasty, we have a crucial decision coming up as to whether to sign him or not long term..this decision will shape our franchise for the next 6 years..imo a lot of folks sure are depending on that extra 1 second.

work the pocket, shuffle his feet..find the throwing lanes.....im telling y'all the man is standing on one spot, and aint moving, thats party why he came 1 sack shy of breaking the all time record for a three year stint in sacks, and why he has some many batted balls, and why he refuses to threaten a defense on purpose.

these aren't compliments to our qb going into his fourth year.

Ryan still has a chance to improve and become the quarterback all of us wish he can be. But not under Philbin, and not until he develops a killer instinct ans start taking the bull by the horns.

Philbin cant possibly teach Tannehill how to be a winner, he was not responsible for any of Green Bays success i dont care what that arodgers12 guy tells you on this board, the Packers are the second team i follow in the NFL and Philbin was just a guy that had a title but did nothing more than a video coordinator role.

Once we fire him and we go after a real teacher, innovator, a proven winner like Malzahn.. Then Tannehill might learn how to take the next step and become a perennial playoff performer which to me thats a franchise quarterback.

But how is Tannehill being saddled by Philbin a knick against Tannehill. If anything, look at how much the kid has improved with such a crap tastic coach. You don't think Russell Wilson has a HUGE advantage having Pete Carroll as a coach?

This is the critical distinction for this poster, people. He wants a dynasty, and you aren't getting that without a Brady, Rodgers, Manning, Montana, etc. What the poster is saying, as I understand it at least, is that he's resigning himself to Tannehill's being the sort of quarterback who needs a good amount of help from his surrounding cast for the Dolphins to be Super Bowl contenders, which necessarily removes him from Manning/Brady/Rodgers/Montana/etc. territory. That doesn't mean the Dolphins can't be competitive at a high level. It simply means they have to do a tremendous job of building around Tannehill and coaching that talent well. I think we're all agreeing here a great deal more than it may appear.

Yeh it does, because as you've said we have to make a decision on Ryan Tannehill. If your making the call, your saying he's not the guy and you'd keep drafting till you found yourself a Russell Wilson. Guess what, Joe Philbin has a better chance of eclipsing Bill Billichick then you do of drafting the next Russell Wilson.

I'm out means I dont believe his game will hold up come playoff time, I've told you a thousand times we can win games..but were gonna have to really build this offense up around him because he isn't gonna give us anything on his own, you understand that right, he has shown a strict mindset to stay in the pocket..he does not run on his own, he will not break the pocket at all costs, so we better forget about defense.

The Steelers were a dynasty, and it wasn't because of Terre Bradshaw. Dallas was and it wasn't because of just Troy Aikman. The Patriots won two Super Bowls when Tom Brady wasn't asked to carry the team. John Elway finally won a Superbowl when they got TD.

This I agree with, but Rodgers took a lot of the same criticism in 08 and 09 when he was sacked 84 times. 2010, his 5th season is when he started putting it together. It was the same season that they drafted Bulaga and Newhouse at Tackle and Guard.

Let's hope Tannehill learns to shuffle and bounce as well.

But you've made the decision that 17 is just not doing this, and when asked "But what if he's being coached that way" your response is he should ignore the coaches and do his own thing. Thats the advice you'd give him if your his agent, so he can get the label that he's un coach able?
