I'm saying it may not be definitive. It may be. We don't yet.

    We do know:

    - There's no other answer he could give that wouldn't cause controversy or wouldn't cause harm to the team before the season is actually finished.
    - Ross is not great in front of the media and most owners aren't.
    - If it is definite, then he most likely didn't come to that conclusion by himself.

He believes in this coach, b/c this is his BAD hire. He liked philbin and it was his call to get him instead of mccoy (hmm hows he doing these days?).

HE related to his boring dull and corny persona b/c it mirrors his own. He will stick with this loser so that he can get the "comes from the owner all the way down heckuva job" speeches.

But like the two of their voices and public speaking skills - it will just amount to more boring, mediocre and irrelevant football. BLAH ROSS SUCKS

Look, if you're gonna make an argument that the media doesn't affect anything, then you're playing "Hungry, Hungry Hippos" while I'm trying to play chess.

You think Ross acted on todays emotional win? Or, he was leaning this way anyway?

Sounds kind of like the scenario I laid out in my "Enjoy Bill Lazor while he's here" thread. http://www.thephins.com/forums/showthread.php?82972-Enjoy-Lazor-while-he-s-here

No way. To say, "I want to see how the team/coaches finish the season, then make my decision." would be perfectly acceptable. Ross himself set the expectation of making the playoffs this year, so why not leave Philbin hanging for another week? Too stressful? Welcome to the NFL.

My point about having a lame duck coach stands too. We are going to get the bottom feeders of free agency due to a one year coach. Even with an extension, smart players/agents would understand Phibin is on a ONE year deal.

I'm a fan, I'll hope for the best. Hickey had a solid year at GM, another one in the 2015 draft, plus a better schedule, plus less injuries, might mean 10-11 wins in 2015. I don't really believe that right now, but I'll hope...

I`m a Yankees fan, I saw how Steinbrenner handled the media to a point they were eating out of his hands. AND, he was successful the way he did it. IF an owner LETS the media affect his decision making then he`s an ***. I hate to say this but Belichick has been ****ing around with the medias minds for years, hows that working out.?

Ryan Tannehill is more important than lazor. He had a good 2013 season given the *** whooping he recieved. We could lose lazor and be fine with Tannehill, IMO. The arrow has been pointing up for years now.

I don't think you could have the decision made before knowing whether we were gonna lose the last two at home..now that were not, he made his decision..

According to Muck in the other thread the decision to keep Philbin was made before today's game.

Probably right. I still wish he waited and looked over his options at seasons end. That would`ve worked.

I LOVE RT17 and am a huge supporter. But I disagree. We just scored and moved unlike any other season. We need a better defense, and we need Lazor.

I am so pissed right now. Ross can't smell the sh!t he is standing in.

It was unlikely for him to go anyway. Just installed a new OC and GM, maybe a new DC for next year as well.

The Dolphins have basically joined the rank of teams that are waiting for their owners to die.

Even worse he admits this team has the talent to be in the playoffs. So, what's preventing us from being there Ross?

Alrighty then...you have an entire offseason to find a team more worthy of your support as a fan. Since you think **** the Dolphins, I cannot imagine you'd want to continue as a fan.

It is a lie. Ross is lying, the sources are lying. This was a total "gipper" moment... Droopy Dog is back for another season. Dumbo totally lost himself in a meaningless moment. He was standing down there on the sideline today, and totally ate up the nonsense. This bad team we barely beat. Stand on the sidelines against Baltimore you FOOL!

I a very happy that Philbin will be back. I wanted to see Tannehill and Lazor develop together for another year. I wanted Hickey to have another year.

Half of these guys are drama queens who want to come on here and complain about the team sucking. It's what they do and they'll be back next year to do it again if we fall at any point.

He obviously wanted to do this from the get go and the win just gave him a good chance to announce it on a good light.

Philbin must be blackmailing this guy or something... I can't for the life of me figure out what he's done to inspire so much confidence. At this point I feel that as long as he wins at least 8 games he'll be able to coach the Dolphins for the rest of his [or Ross's] life.

a defense, and an offensive line. i wanted philbin gone as well and still think he should be, but hickey did a very good job last season so if he can have another good draft and fix those big problems i think the dolphins are a playoff team even with mr magoo as head coach.

I agree. I think it is in RT's best interests to continue in this same offense for at least another year. The silver lining with Philbin staying is Lazor also should stay. Just hope Coyle gets axed.
