Why? people keep saying this. The Dolphins were eliminated from the Playoffs with the Steelers Win today. Regardless of what happens next week we can't make it in.

I think people are over reacting.

What's Ross supposed to say after a win with one game to go?

    1. He can't say he is getting fired, then he'd be jumped on by you guys for cutting a guys legs from under him, the way you all *****ed about the Harbaugh/Sparano thing. Also, what would prospective coaches think if Ross is doing that to Philbin?

    2. He can't say, "no comment" because that means he is fired and see #1.

The only thing that would make this more galling is if he announced it after we'd lost today.

Still, he made this decision after Baltimore and New England, before today.

    Utterly clueless

All of those close loses and media talk about us being close to elite did us in. Philbin and hickey are both on one year deals, so that's positive. And maybe Gus Malzhan will be more ready to leave for the NFL in 2016.

Yay 8-8 and 9-7 again next year. It's obvious Ross either could not close again or values Harbaugh coaching Michigan more. Lame duck franchise. Kept Sparano too long, Kept Ireland too long, Keeping Phbun too long. Smh

Ross just saved me hundreds of dollars by giving me a reason not to get Sunday ticket in 2015, whats next sign Tannehill to a long term contract?

He could say, "We'll evaluate everything at the end of the season and go from there."

Why not extend Philbin? He is a lame duck coach in 2015. How do you attract big free agents when the coach is on a one year deal? Players, like most of us, would prefer a stable work environment.

I think this tells us that Harbaugh already said "No" to the Miami job, so Ross is just going to leave things as they are and hope that somehow, someway, Philbin becomes a good-great coach in 2015.

I would hope that Philbin is forced to make changes -at least getting rid of Coyle. Probably not though. Everything was "good enough" this year according to Ross.

He doesn't have to say anything. Let the speculation continue its course. Nothing to play for anyway. But since he supposedly already made his mind up, the hell with it.

    That wouldn't work.

There's only two answers he could give either, "he stays" or anything else which would be construed as him being fired.

Ross could do/say what he did after the previous two embarrassing losses. You know, when we played teams that were actually good.

This may be good enough for Ross but I am tired of eating this crap.
Until he sells the team I don't expect any different results.

We just missed out on landing a better HC here. I'd much rather have Harbaugh, Dan Quinn, Scott Linehan, Gary Kubiak, or Malzahn. But no, stuck with Joe McQueasy instead.

You know, at first I was upset, but I'm OK with this. If Harbaugh is going to Michigan, the other guy I really, really want is Malzahn. But, no way Malzahn is going to jump to the NFL this year. Maybe he wins a national championship with His new defense and we can get him after the inevitable Philbin fail.

    No there really isn't.

The media and the fans will interpret ANYTHING they want from ANYTHING he said. Its always happened and always will.

None of that means he wasn't truthful. He may have been. The point I'm making is that there's literally nothing else he could have said not controversial or detrimental to the team's last game.

So, Ross had to come clean with a definitive answer right NOW, because the media asked him for one? No way I believe that. He could have said a number of things and let the media hang like an owner with any balls would have done.

@AbramsonPBP: Stephen Ross: "This one game doesn’t make a decision. I believe in this team. I believe in the coach. We’re building something great."

Those aren't words of someone who is lying. He didn't have to say anything, he didn't last week. He said no comment last week, could've done it again.

You know what's worst still, he's going to have to renew Philbin most likely, at least one more year. Can't have a lame duck coach coaching an all important season. He's going to have to give him at least a 1 year extension.

Why should Ross care about what the media thinks? He owns the team, he can say what he wants . If he gave in to media pressure then he`s ball-less.

He HAS to keep him now. He will be too prideful and dumb to back out of his words. This is a colossal disaster. 1 of 2 things will happen. We will just plain out mediocre our way to another 6-10 thru 9-7 season... or we will actually go 10-6, 11-5 on the backs of Lazor and RT17...and a 400+ point season. And we will make playoffs, and LAzor will get a head coach job somewhere... And THEN we will go back to ****ing sucking rhino **** at 6-10, 5-11 or worse. ****.
