I agree with everything you stated, except I think the Dolphins have to be open to seeing what they might be able to get in a trade for Wake.

He will be 33 years old when the season starts next year and based on his limited action in recent games, it appears the coaching staff doesn't think he can be as effective over the course of an entire game as he has been in previous years.

I still think he probably has a couple of productive years left and that might make him a player a top contender might be willing to trade a good pick for.

To me, the Dolphins are a few years away from being a team which can contend for a lspot in the Super Bowl. By the time they get to that level, Wake is likely to be retired. The Dolphins traded Jason Taylor late in his career and they need to at least see what they could get for Wake at this time.

If they don't get what they think is a fair offer for Wake, they could always keep him at DE next year. If this team was just one or two players away from being a legitimate Super Bowl contender, I wouldn't be in favor of trading Wake. I just think it is going to take the next head coach 2-3 seasons to get this team to that level and that is why I think the Dolphins have to at least see what interest other teams might have in trading for Wake.

The only circumstance I think I'd see Wake traded is if you see Miami end up with Harbaugh (probably unlikely at this point), and San Francisco is willing to cut loose Aldon Smith for off-field reasons (probably also unlikely), but I'd give them Wake and a pick despite the risk of Smith doing something crazy. He's one of like 2 or 3 players that actually has a better pass-rush percentage than Wake over the past few years.

Regardless, that whole scenario is unlikely.

so hypothetically, lets say we release finnegan, starks, gibson, garner, and shelly smith, and Jun 1 cuts for ellerbe, hartline, and wheeler, plus we carry over what we got now, that's about 23 mil for free agency and the draft by my math...5-6 mil of that goes towards the draft, so about 17 mil for free agents/resigning our own. then on Jun 1 another 17 million comes off the books.

honestly this should be the plan, benefits us both short term and long term.

I think Brandon Fields might be gone a well. He's being paid like the 6th best punter and this year his production is closer to the 6th worst. He was brutal at the start of the year I can see Miami going younger and cheaper in this department.

Agreed. I thougth he might have been injured or something because he seems to have lost something in that golden leg of his.

Wasn't he hurt early in the year? Seems like he improved later in the year

Dang, I didn't realize it was that high.

I like him but I don't see myself giving him $6M to do what he does.

No ones going to give a high pick for wake due to his age, and wake is still a 10+ sack guy for at least 2-3 more seasons. Should not look to trade him IMO.

Clay is overvalued by us fin fans. Simply put, he probably isn't going to demand top dollar, I'd hope we keep him for a reasonable sum. He was injured like crazy this year, can't block well, and honestly didn't really make any big plays this year.

I think the same goes for oddrick. I think he's a very good DT, but we overrate him as a fan base. We need a big fat td more than oddrick.

Hartlines gone. Wheeler, finnegan, ellerbe all gone. I'd look to trade Wallace if there's a buyer.

All depends on what you consider trade VALUE? Pouncey and Vernon could most likely be moved for 3rd round picks. Tannehill a second rounder and Jordan a 3rd possibly a 2nd from the Eagles only. So if you want a return on your investment Vernon is the only one with Trade value and I would not trade him for a 3rd. No team would trade for anyone else on your list due to their current contracts.

Of the players you want to return I am only interested in 3. Ah Francis, Odrick for the right price, and Thomas on the cheap. Once we get a REAL coaching staff Clay will be expendable. If you recall the Patriots covered him with their best corner last year. The Pats will pay Clay more than I would be willing to pay.

If he's still in this scheme, or a similar one, I'd tend to doubt that. He's not even at 10 yet this year, and what's his drought at, 4 games now? I think this scheme puts him at a natural disadvantage because Olivier Vernon struggles playing base DE techniques (5/6) so they play him wider and have Wake playing 5/6 techniques against bigger right tackles and usually with a TE. IMO, he's getting doubled and chipped so much he's worn down - he's only 260-265lbs so he's not THAT big - and it's causing him to suffer in pass-rush. Sebastian Vollmer's been one of Wake's primary victims and Vollmer handled him with relative ease last week.

That's why I'd be thrilled with Rex Ryan or Jim Harbaugh (hopefully with Vic Fangio in tow) coming in to move Miami back to a 3-4 where you can take better advantage of Wake's pass-rush skills. You can be flexible with him, hell Mike Nolan was, to the point where you don't even dictate what stance he uses, just let him go.

Dolphins can create a good amount of cap room cutting these players. Go after Suh! 1st round pick a middle linebacker. Get a guard in free agency and another in draft with 2nd round pick. 3rd round pick get a WR to replace Fartline I mean Hartline. Get another linebacker in free agency. Get a free safety in free agency to replace Delmas. Team is set to make the playoffs next season. Oh and I would like Moreno back at the right price. Him and Lamar Miller will go ham on the league together.

Dolphins should keep Wake until he decides to retire. He's a diamond, and you don't throw away diamonds unless you can't provide a ring for them. Then you ask where he would like to be traded.

    Just be decent about it.

I like your list but not sure about Misi.

I see Clay going to the Patriots, just feels like the Welker scenario. When you see Bellicheat cover him with Talib to take him out of the game that tells me all I need to know.

If clay ends up on the patriots, personally I'd be happy for his career, but would be at the same time slitting my wrists as a Dolfan.
