Considering his work on STs, Landry probably does deserve some consideration for RoY even if his receiving numbers may fall short of some of the other rookies this class has produced. With that said, I don't think I'd have Landry finishing any higher than 4th (and maybe not even that high) in oRoY.

It's pretty obvious that both of them are outstanding NFL rookies. Both of them deserve consideration.

Of course, Beckham was supporting his buddies, but that showed class.

he seems like a very humble, classy, and loyal person. he is someone that should be one of the faces of the NFL and it seems he is fast approaching that status in such a short time.

as for landry i think he does deserve some consideration especially like someone said above about his special teams contribution but there are other players that deserve the honor above him.

i mentioned this in the game thread right after it happened but that punt return against the pats he flashed a serious amount of talent..He did three things at once from a talent perspective and it was cool.

    Yes please.

That's pretty cool of Odell, who seems like a great kid. Landry does too, of course. But just to be real: Beckham has that award pretty much in the bag at his point. He's a total freak. Special special athlete and player.

It's a two horse race between Evans and ODB in my opinion, but ODB is getting all the hype so he's a lock unless Evans kills it.

ODB is awesome, but he's hugely benefiting from Eli and no other WR options on that team. Eli sucks donkey balls but he can huck it. He always makes at least one WR prolific. It'll be interesting to see if Cruz comes back healthy how it all shakes out.

They were teammates at LSU and good friends. So I agree it is a classy thing for him to say. I just think that behind closed doors, Beckham is going to be disappointed if he doesn't win rookie of the year.

He certainly deserves the award based on his stats and the fact he missed four games earlier in the year due to injury.

I hope we don't do anything stupid and trade Landry like we did Welker. Landry is the best receiver we've had since Wes Welker. The man's a beast!

I really don't see a comparison to their situations at this time. Welker was seen as more of a return man and less as a WR during his time with the Dolphins. He really didn't become a top tier WR until he was traded to the Patriots.

Landry was drafted to be a WR and he became the return man simply because he was the best player for the job. He is still seen as a WR first and he appeared to be one of the players this team will be built around for the future.

Welker was never seen as one of those type players in Miami and that is why Saban was willing to trade him to the Patriots, instead of signing him to a new contract. In hindsight it was a terrible move by Saban, but at the time many people thought that getting a second round and a late round pick for Welker was a great trade by Saban.

I was a huge proponent NOT to trade Welker, from the little time he spent here I projected him to be an outstanding wide receiver, and called it the dumbest trade in dolphin history when it was going down..hall of fame career later shows it was a good evaluation.

You mean Brandon Marshall right? Welker had 67 receptions for 687 yards and 1 TD, not exactly an awesome WR, he was a good KR/PR for us, but he was nothing more then a pedestrian WR for us... Using Chris Chambers would of been a better example then Welker, but, I like Landry and he's the best WR we currently have already and he's in line for a few pro bowls if you ask me.

As far as RoY, he should be in top 3 IMO, right behind ODB and in front of M. Evans IMO, whoever makes the call should take into consideration how much Landry does overall for our team, he's a top 3 KR (in the NFL) and his PR numbers aren't all that bad. As far as his WR numbers go, he's tied at 71 receptions with ODB at the top of the rookie class. However, ODB has been lights out, he has 10+catches in 3 games, 100+ yards in 5 games, 9 TDs, and 7 games of 6 catches 90+ yards (and is leader for rookies in every category despite missing the first 4 games), he's simply been lights out on offense. Evans really only had 3 good games, 1 of them being a GREAT game (despite his 11 TD's, i.e., he had 2 receptions 13 yards, 1 TD last week not really setting the world on fire). I would actually rank Landry ahead of Evans, because Evans has been a non-factor in quite a few games this season, where Landry has been a big part of not just our offense but on special teams too!

If there are really no other WR options, that should make ODB's catch % all the more impressive.

I hope Landry doesn't turn out to be the next Davone Bess.

He's good but he doesn't have the size and speed to take over a game and that generally creates a ceiling for you as a player.

Landry could be an amazing weapon if we find the right pieces on the outside.

Not sure this is accurate about Eli. Quite honestly hes having his best year in a few. His int's are way down and the early season struggles of learning a new offense seem behind him. Remember this is the first time in Eli's pro career he had to learn a different offense since he came in to the league with Gilbride as his OC. We will find out if Gilbride held him back as a lot of Giant fans and myself believe. Also Cruz and Nicks were productive when Eli was healthy. The NYG's biggest problem is Rashad Jennings health and their weak OL.

As for Jarvis Landry, it is Odell Beckham who really deserves ROY but I still think the early season success of Kelvin Benjamin is weighing on a lot of people.

    Id probably have it:
    Beckham
    Evans
    Benjamin
    Bridgewater
    Watkins
    Landry
    Hill

I do like Landry though. His upside could be Hines Ward-like given another year or so. Hes tough and gritty which is something you dont get from a lot of wr's.

Beckham is the best NFL WR in the game, right now. Maybe he's not the most talented, but right now, no one is playing at a higher level. He totally deserves rookie of the year.

Eli has always had a prolific WR, even if his numbers are crap. Yes he throws a lot of INTs, but those don't affect the WR. In his really really down year he still threw for almost 4,000 yards, and in his good years it's almost 5,000 yards. Take it from someone who drafted him in 2011 for a dynasty league so I follow his stats CLOSELY (like everyday). I subbed in Russell Wilson two years ago and never looked back lol. O'dell is benefiting hugely from no good WR across from him like when there was a prime Hakeem Nicks and Cruz next to each other. If Eli was still 2011 Eli I'd say there'd be enough targets for Cruz and O'dell. But the Eli of the past 3 years isn't as good enough to run an offense with that many passing targets in a game/season. He's having a better year but his ypa is down, significantly.

I do think Evans would be more competitive in that race if he had a halfway decent QB. Glennon and McCown are just terrible. Think Lovie would make a play for Cutler lol.

Antonio Brown and Julio Jones might disagree with you though. Dez too.

Eli is better than those two, but he's not very good either.
I'll buy Antonio Brown. Dez is up there, but Julio isn't. He's been quiet all year outside of the packer game.

People forget when Welker was with us he scored 1 receiving touchdown
While with Brady he scored 38 touchdowns

His avg yards receiving for us was 563 per season with Brady it was 1243per season

Brady MADE Welker into what he became and I believe Welker would never
have achieved the success here as he did playing with Brady

If he was on a slightly better team Beckham could probably bypass the rookie category and get in the running for Offensive Player of the Year. This dude is sick.
