http://www.miamiherald.com/sports/spt-columns-blogs/armando-salguero/article4473114.html i mean can we please fire the coach in charge this time before doing this. Could you imagine us losing out on Harbaugh again and having another press conference with a phoney extension?
It's a delicate situation...but it's all moot if the wifey ain't on board..need to interview her first.. Just have to respect the process, let this coach prove he can motivate this team thru this adversity were going thru and then inquire...Harbaugh isn't gonna talk to anyone until his season is over so it's all good, just lets see how the team performs, it should tell us how they feel about their coach.
I can't believe (if this story holds any weight), that we have learned exactly jack **** from the last go-around.
One of the big reasons Miami couldn't land him last time, and maybe a big reason they will stand a chance if they try again -
Just setting yourself up for disappointment. The Harbaugh's love the WC love the bay area and have no connection to Miami. If you are thinking Ross as Michigan alum is the Key think again. JH has never had a good relationship with the school so that connection doesn't exists as well as the Ross conection. There is nothing magical that brings him to the team no tradition that isnt 40 years old, nothing.
Unfortuntely I have to agree with you. I would love to see Harbaugh as the next Dolphins head coach, but I think he will have many other opportunities to be a head coach for teams which will entice him more than the Miami head coaching position. I too believe he and his wife prefer the west coast, but if he does decide to take a job on the east coast, it will probably be in a more high profile job with the Jets or Giants. I would put put the chance at Harbaugh being the Dolphins next HC at less than 5%.
Get it done Ross....you failed once before, don't strike out again, do whatever it takes, pay him 10 mil/yr, I mean you can clearly afford it, if he wants to fire everybody fine with me, he can wipe out the entire front office and scouting staff for all I care, I don't give a **** if he wants to let the front office receptionist go, just do it so you and your franchise can finally earn some respect in this league
I hope so, but he'll probably just stay in California for the Raiders. But let's put it this way... Last Super Bowl Appearance: Dolphins - 1984. Harbaugh - 2012 Last Conference Championship Appearance: Dolphins - 1992. Harbaugh - 2013 Last 12+ win season: Dolphins - 1990. Harbaugh - 2013.
I don't know why this conversation in particular causes a bunch of people to form pet opinions and treat it as fact. No one has any ****ing clue if Harbaugh would be interested in the Dolphins job, affirmative or negative. We don't know if Ross screwed the pooch last go around. We don't know if the team is palatable to Harbaugh. We don't know what his inclinations are. We don't know if his wife is or isn't OK with moving. I don't know why the "his WIFE doesn't want to move here" thing gets attached to players and coaches every other year since John Tait's wife got her consecrated undergarments in a bunch about coming to the Sodom and Gomorrah of the South.
FWIW, Armando has been the only guy reporting this all month now. He has been acting as if Ross has zero'd in on Harbaugh and its already in the works on Ross's end. All he is basing that on is the fact that Ross tried it a few years ago. Everyone else is also saying we will seek Harbaugh, b/c of course we will, as will every other team with a vacancy. But dont buy this hype from Armando.
No way, why would he come out here when he can drive a few miles down the road to Oakland and bring the Raiders back to prominence?
Because its a message board and people can write their opinion in any form they wish as long as it's with in the TOS. just as it's your right to engage in the conversation or not. I see a ton of opinion i don't agree with on all sort of MBs but don't climb up on my high horse to tell others how they should post those opinions. So they sound like fact BFD.
I am not like dez and pounding my fist on the table but I will say if you KNOW you can get Harbaugh you go get him. This league is all about upgrading and that would be without a doubt an immediate upgrade. HOWEVER I am also not holding pitchforks wanting Philbin gone. If we indeed win out like we should that's 9 wins. Some years that's a playoff birth. Just think if we were the ones playing the afc south this year? We are easily in! We played a brutal schedule this year. The injuries have been piling up. So my personal opinion is if we win these last 2 games and Jim Harbaugh is not willing to come to Miami then keep philbin 1 last year and see if he can win 10 or more. Because if he can we could be on to something.
No way the team **** the bed when the pressure was on two years in a row. These two games are meaningless like a preseason game and winning just drops us back further in the draft.Bye philbin.
Well I think cautious Joe has lost the locker room. I think Jim needs to consider Divorce.....J/K....lol
Mr.Ross, Please go out to the quietest, upscale, neighborhood you can find on the water with a great waterfront view and put it on hold and invite Harbaugh and his wife down and show them maybe 3 or 4 of these type of homes and tell Mrs. Harbaugh as a bonus for her she can have the home of her choice plus that you will pay for whatever private schools they so choose and maybe her dream car lol..and then sit down with Jim and offer him an contract that he cannot refuse.
I guess it doesn't matter that, assuming Albert comes back 100%, this team is two guards, two defensive backs, two defensive tackles, two linebackers, one tight end, one running back, one wide receiver and a kicker from contention. We're going to solve the problem by changing the coaches instead, because Harbaugh, due to his magical genius, can make up for all those deficiencies. Rewatch the last two games and the first half of the Jets game. How easy is it to execute plays against the lukewarm bodies we have out there?
I think Ross will be willing to backup the truck for Harbaugh. He has shown in the past with free agency spending that money won't be an issue. Yeah his wife doesn't like the east coast but it's not like miami is the jersey shore or anything. I'm all on board for this hire. Try to work it out behind the scenes like the Cubs done with joe madden. If it doesn't work out save face and give philbin 1 more stinkin year. also read that Rex Ryan is not even in consideration. Thank goodness. All you closet Rex fans that came out over the past week can go hide back in it.
We didn't adjust until the second half when we should have come out with 8/9 in the box against the jests. That's on Coyle imo.
I'm not sure why anyone in their right mind would be opposed to Sexy Rexy as the defensive coordinator. I wouldn't want him as the head coach, but as DC? Hell yeah. I'd be all in on that.
I don't know if he deserves another year but how much of our current woes are due to the talent acquisition of our previous GM vs coaching? I don't know the answer to that. I do know that Jeff's upgrade at LB was a complete fail and has left us very weak there. I also know that he drafted 5 OL is 6 years in the top 3 rounds and we still don't have a good OL. Whether that's due to coaching or the actual talent is the question that needs to be answered. I also know that the 2013 draft was a complete bust. Jenkins has shown promise but to this point, the 1st and 2nd round pick we invested in Jordan has been a bust and Davis and Taylor have not lived up to their draft billing. That of course could change if any of them develop but based on what I've seen it doesn't look good. To put this in perspective, we had 1 1st round pick, 2 2nd round picks and 2 3rd round picks and we've got next to nothing out of that. When you suck at drafting as bad as we do then you have to rely on FA to fill talent gaps. The problem with that is you typically overpay for the player based on the bidding system and as we saw this year, they don't typically live up to the expectations. You can call it bad luck or whatever but our FA all got injured and aren't currently producing for this team when we need them. I don't believe you blame Hickey for this as you have to fill gaps to be competitive. How much of this is Ireland's wake vs Philbin I don't know. But that is the question we need to be evaluating as we decide to move forward.
Theyre masochists, they dont mind wasting another season. Nevermind the fact that both New England and Buffalo are both ahead of us in overall progress. Buffalo doing it with Kyle Orton and New England is light years away. Next season with the same coach and roster we will suck again if not worse.
