Wondering if, in games the Dolphins could think, "Hey we're gonna beat these guys!", the coaches are all about, "Calm down, don't underestimate them, we have to respect them." True enough, at times, but then again, there are other times, where you need to say, "You know what? Yeah, we are going to beat these guys. Let's get out there and destroy them! Put them down!"

Just seems the Dolphins don't know who they are, don't come out the gate on fire.

    Maybe it's just me.

Besides the Bills, Dolphins have blown out all their inferior opponents. Stop it.

They knew this was coming and couldn't do anything about it. Both the offensive and defensive coaching has been totally inept.

There is no excuse for this defensive performance against the worst offense in the league and Tannehill's performance against one of the worst secondaries in the league isn't much better.

I cannot imagine any owner (other than Ross) not looking at this game at this point in the season and not thinking, "This head coach is done."

I would lobby for the OC to stay - with whomever the new HC is - but there is no way you retain Philbin if we lose this game. We will have 6 losses and no way we win the next 4. It's also a Division game. Against a 2-9 team.

This season we've done well in a couple of games against inferior opponent but when you factor in last year too I think you see something that goes beyond any possible lack of talent etc. There's a mentality issue.

Problem is you can't bring in a new HC and force him to accept an OC (and I'd argue GM). It might happen that the new guy wants to keep the OC but not likely. The only way, now, to ditch Philbin and keep Lazor and Hickey is to promote Lazor. Not sold on that being a great idea though.

This is another downside of all those half-hearted changes and no cleaning house.

Actually this is similar to us using the wildcat the first time we rolled it out. The jets gameplan was true 1930s football. No shame being caught be surprise by the Jets gameplan.

seriously Geno Smith only had 8 pass attempts before their last drive, and we all saw what happened the one time the Jets had to pass the ball.
Meanwhile running the ball so extensively after they had a lead forced the phins into throwing more than they would like because of the clock, allowing the Jets to tee off in pass defence mode.

Ryan's wacky game plan deserves some credit. OK I'd like for our coaches to have responded quicker but the players stayed in the game and didn't give up like they would have last year.

The Jets came to play. They had an innovative gameplan that was stalled in the second half. They dropped a lot into coverage that limited our intermediate game.

T-Hill had a gritty performance. He wasn't helped by either Wallace or Miller but he gutted it out with a (potentially) season defining strike to Sims.

Sometimes you just have to grind it out, get the W and forget about it.

Seriously? There are people describing the Jets game plan as "innovating" and a surprise?

They took the Broncos gameplan, and added some wide receiver run elements. Which even then isn't a ****ing surprise considering they've been doing it for several weeks now. Kevin Coyle knew goddamned well what was coming and still managed to get caught with his pants down for most of the game.

Meanwhile, you've got a reversion to the at this point fairly classic Joe Philbin tactic of retreating into your shell and playing small ball after any sort of mistake or adversity in a close, slow-paced game. That is of course until you've managed to whittle your time and effort down into that last single drive which has now become do or do.

They did a **** job coaching and escaped largely by virtue of playing a team made of it themselves.

I understand the frustration, but rivalry games are a different beast. The Jets did seem to have a game plan straight out of 1973, with a few twists. Happy with the victory.

I love how every time we play a team we're better than, everyone thinks we're supposed to just destroy them. How long have you guys been watching the NFL? It doesn't work that way. Take a look around. The ****ing Pats almost lost to the Raiders at home. Those same Raiders BEAT the Chiefs. You should know by now bad teams get up for these games.

We made the plays we had to to win. We now own a playoff spot. Stop whining and enjoy it!

I respect your post, but seriously how many times do the Jets have to run the ball before Coyle realizes they're going to run it? We got lucky with a dropped Int and just playing a QB that shouldn't be in the NFL.

Lol, yeah, Coyle is soooooo stupid, all he had to do was hit the Stop the Run Button........

Its time people realize, every team has weaknesses and those weaknesses can change from week to week. Its the coaches job to devise a gameplan to exploit those weaknesses. Here's the thing though, that happens for both teams and its called a weakness for a reason. If you could just mask it effectively, then its not really a weakness. If a team's strength matches up well with the other team's weaknesses, then you get an ugly game, like tonight. What is remarkable is that our Miami Dolphins actually won a game where their weaknesses were exploited and they did precious little to exploit the weakness of their opponent.

Let's also not forget, this was their Super Bowl.

We shut them down in the 2nd half. The important thing is we fixed what we needed to fix and got the win.

The Jets took the middle to deep stuff away and let Miami have the check down/short stuff. I'm fine with Tannehill checking down. If that's what's available then take it. I'd rather see that then him just force it in to try and make people happy. The run was "meh" and honestly if he had the deep ball open, there wasn't much time. The defense got gashed in the first half. At least they adjusted at halftime. They all can't be beautiful. Marino won games like this too. When the playoffs come, you better learn how to win 16-13 games. This was ugly, but a step in the right direction. They won. Just be happy.

Not sure why anyone is blaming Miller. Yes, he caused the int, but other than that, he ran hard. I like what Miller is doing this year, but he needs to carry the ball more.

This is the NFL and even with the worst teams, they are professionals who are playing with pride and anything is possible. You couple that with a divisional opponent on the road who is playing to spoil the season of a rival and playing for their coach. In our 1 win season, we had no business beating the Ravens but we did. The Raiders had no business beating a Chiefs team that dominated Miami and New England.

Coming out of this game, I certainly have some concerns. Our OL is bad. Dallas Thomas and Darryn Colledge have no business starting on any NFL team. Defensively, our DL has gotten run over the last 2 weeks. Our LB's have looked horrible. And we're starting our 5th or 6th option at CB. RTH made some mistakes but his supporting cast didn't help. Mike Wallace HAS to make that catch for the TD. Lamar Miller flipping the ball in the air to get intercepted, WTF!?

I don't know how this season will play out but I am proud that they found a way to win. Even if it was ugly. We've had a tough schedule this year and are in a position to make the playoffs. IF we can get some guys healthy, start executing a little better and make some plays to help support our QB, anything is possible.

The one thing this season has shown me is we still have some major gaps in our roster. Gaps that can't be fixed in one offseason. We need to build the interior of our OL, we need a playmaker at LB and at WR. I think we've plugged way too many holes with cast off free agents that quite frankly haven't earned their paychecks.
