For those who haven't seen it the new teaser trailer is out Personally I am pretty excited now the Teaser answered one of the biggest wonders I had and that was how close it would feel to the originals. Have to say I am pretty happy based off the short viewing.
The camera work is a little jarring. It's not bad, but there's more camera motion than in the other Star Wars movies. Feels a little weird to see this universe directed by someone who isn't Lucas.
I actually think it benefits from that overall. My favorite two Star Wars Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi were not directed by Lucas. He was part of writers but he wasn't the only writer either. I didn't like the prequels really and those were completely Lucas pretty much. A New Hope was only one he directed I liked. I do agree on more camera motion will be interesting to see how first real trailer looks since teasers only give ya so much.
This is going to be awesome. Got chills when the music hit mid trailer as the Falcon was doing the barrel roll!!!
It's only a teaser, but I don't really see what the hype is about. Cinematography of the X-wings was cool as ****. That's about all I was impressed with.
I think Lucas is a pretty good director. He comes up with good plots and I like his cinematography; it harkens back to '60s and '70s style of filmmaking, which I really like. (Patton in particular is an awesome movie, even though you can spot the Bradley-influenced BS a mile away.) He also comes up with decent plots. His real weakness is dialog, which was fixed for him in Empire and Jedi when he had other writers to actually create the dialog and script. So I'll miss the Lucas feel, but the teaser looks good regardless.
I agree with you. He is a terrible director. At least in the prequels. I wish they went with a more hungry director than JJ Abrams.
Don't agree with your statement on Abrahams, as he is probably one of the best director choices. A life-long star wars fan who dreamt of making a star wars movie. So much so in fact, that many star trek fans felt his movies were too star wars-esque, including when he admittedly altered the sound of the phasers to sound more blaster like. I think he has a lot of respect and reverence with what he is working with and will treat the property thusly.
This is a personal opinion of mine, but I do not trust his vision. I kept on reading about an awesome script that was going around, but JJ decided against it because it would put Luke, Leia, Han more in the background and play up the new characters. He felt that fans wanted to see them go on one last adventure. Which leads me to believe he is going to make the same mistake as he did when he made Star Trek. Especially Star Trek Into Darkness. Too much fan fiction and not enough story and character building.
international trailer.. 1:08... LUUUUUUUUKE!!!
Excessive T&A, bad acting, forced dialogue, and explosions. Explosions everywhere, for any reason, at all times. Lots of cuts. Also, panning slow motion closeups with lens flares from every angle. Lots of unnecessary slow motion shots. Also, it would be set in Miami for some reason and said to be based on a true story. Sent from my Transformer TF101 using Tapatalk 4
Check out how the teaser would have been if George Lucas was still directing the series.
Pppfff.....some people.
The fan freakout over the hilt is soooooooooooooooo stupid. Why complain that a lightsaber would cut through it, thereby providing no protection when all other lightsabers had no hilt at all providing even less protection? If anything the hilt provides an offensive advantage in close range.
This movie has lept in front of the Avengers for me as my most anitipcated film of this year. I am cautiously optimistic that JJ can right the wrongs of the prequel trilogy. So far, so good.
Totally. The trailer could literally just have been a big sign saying "Star Wars, so give us your money" and I still would have went.
Which is why I am not super excited for this movie. The teaser was really good. It showed enough to get my interest without showing too much.
Updated with the Second Trailer on the front page.
Wait December? Wasn't it supposed to be this Summer? Or am I totally mis-remembering this and joining it with the second season of True Detective and the new Jurassic World.
