Yah I'm starting to regret the switch. Sony's network is down AGAIN as I speak. In the past 6 weeks that I've had this system I have to say their online network is pure crap compared to Xbox Live still. Folks who think it's close are clearly nuts.

This is one of the reasons id rather have my opponent sitting next to me. That and endless smack during madden/nhl hockey. I cant in to gaming online. It just doesnt do it for me.

X box is whack anyway imo. They got controllers shapped like hippo feet and the gameplay on there lags.

As far as Destiny, im not much in to fighting or adventure games (mostly sports...i know youre all surprised) but ive debated getting a copy. Is it worth it?

If you can't get into gaming online then I'd avoid this like the plague, considering you can't smack talk at all in this game (they have opt-in chat for the future). Me and my friends usually get together in the same room and do missions which makes it a lot more enjoyable. Not much content left for me besides the raid, so I've been doing PvP. Unfortunately, there's only a handful of maps, but the ones that are there are good.

Smoothest feeling shooter out there for me - it just feels right. The thing about Destiny is that there are SOOOO many cracks in the game ... and yet people just can't stop playing. There is a fair bit you can do in small chunks, gameplay that you devote serious time to, plenty of single player stuff, lots of late game co-op strikes and raids, the multiplayer is pretty fun.

And while there are some fairly large issues, Bungie is releasing updates regularly.

On a side note, tried the strike dedicated to the Thorn legendary bounty ... holy hell that was rough. Couldn't get it finished. Guess I need some better gear and teammates next time.

My wife, Tenchu84, and myself all did that on Friday. It was harder than the Nightfall, but we all have Thorn to show for it.

Having friends to play with makes all the difference in this game. When I was playing on Xbox with no friends, I got bored of this after 2 weeks. Playing on PS4 with 4 - 6 friends has made it very enjoyable.

Yeah I've pretty much stopped. I am largely a solo/single player guy and have no real interest in the raids and such. As that is the main focus of the new content patches, my money is going elsewhere.

On a side note, developers need to learn how to get couch co-op back in games. Some of my favorite gaming times were in college when my buddies and I would hang around playing Goldeneye and such against each other. With the size of TV's these days, it should be an even better experience, not missing entirely.

Off topic, but if you're wanting this experience get the Wii U. I recently bought one, and we have been having a great time playing games like Smash Brothers and Mario Kart sitting around the living room. It really brought back the good old days of gaming which I think is exactly what you're talking about.

One of the major flaws with the game. If you don't have at least 5 friends playing the game, you're going to have very limited enjoyment with it. You can use various websites to find randoms to do raids and strikes with. But good luck finding randoms who will "drag" you through raids, weeklies and nightfalls till you can get to 30 - 32. I played alone on Xbox 1 and couldn't get any higher than 26. Got to 31 on PS4 because I had friends who were willing to help me out. The raids get very stale land the loot system is seriously ****ed. I did the Crota's end raid about 12 times trying to get one piece of armor to get to level 32 before quitting. Sick of playing a game that ties leveling up to random loot drops. I shouldn't have to play the game for 2 months + to get from 31 to 32. There's a lot I love about this game and plenty I hate. Maybe I'll get back in when the new DLC comes out.

Yeah, I'm starting to experience this myself. It was so easy to hit 24 but get past that sucks ***.

I've made a few friends through the game and hopefully I will get a chance at raiding but no biggie.

I hope they do more matchmaking especially for Nightfall, ROC and raids. LFG looks painful if you don't have friends.

I thought Blizzard (Diablo series and WoW) RNG sucked but Bungie is taking it to a all new level.

I finally got my 2nd ever legendary engrams last night and it rolled Warlock on my Hunter. Good thing I have a Warlock but my heart sank and was pissed. Heck I even rolled a green on a blue engram and I was like WTF?

PVP can be so much fun and painful. While I'm pretty bad at PVP, I seriously wonder if these people are that good, cheating or have some kind of advantage.

It's so one sided. I'm getting one shorted like crazy with guns and melee. I notice most of the time when I melee someone it takes two hits but I can only take one hit before I die when I get melee'd.

I know I most people probably have crazy legendary or exotic guns but it doesn't feel right. It's getting to a point where I'm considering getting XIM4 to use a keyboard and mouse since I suck at using a controller. TBH, I'm a PC gamer and KB&Mouse is way easier for me than the controller. Then again I probably just suck at PVP and can't get past 1 - 7 (if I get lucky) kills for any match.
How's the Show? I'm thinking of getting the Anniversary version instead of FF since I didn't like what I saw.

Dead horse but the problem is general lack of content. You can get to 20 in a day and then after that its two raids and a treadmill.

Yeah but it's so hard to stop playing. I stop playing WoW to play Destiny and have Pillars of Eternity (donated on kickstarter) to play but havent found time yet since Destiny is so addicting. Heck, I'll admit I went out and bought a new 55" 4K TV since I couldn't resist the deal and to play Destiny on a larger screen. Thats how bad I have for Destiny, LOL.

BTW, are you a Robotech fan? That's the first thing I thought of when I saw your handle.

I actually did the same (got a new LG Smart TV) to play it on. Shadows of Mordor got more of a workout on it than Destiny however. But you're not strange for not being able to put it down. It's got MMO tendencies that make you want to keep coming back for more, but I played FFXIV for awhile, and the end of that with the dailies and what have you it started feeling like a job and not a game. When Destiny started feeling the same way I kind of just walked away from it. In FFXIV's defense though, it has far more content and the content being continually released is usually pretty worth it.

Glad to hear I'm not alone. Yeah MMOS tend to suck me in good. It took forever for me to quit WoW.

WowW hasn't been the same after all the friends I met when the game first started all quit.

I could play FFXIV ARR for long. Loved the ninja class but got bored of it. Guess a large part was because I was playing solo and their dungeon queue sucked for a dps.

Guess I always comes down to sooner or later you're going to get bored playing alone in MMO type games.

I have high hopes for Destiny because I really like it and hope their 10 yr plan is a good one.

I have all three classes at level 32, every exotic piece of armor, every exotic weapon except the necrocasm, and every legendary Crota raid weapon. I am missing a few Vault of Glass raid weapons. I've put a ton of time into this game, but haven't played in weeks. I have nothing to play for. I'm waiting on the next expansion.

It's the loot system you are addicted to. I have a couple of friends who are crazy about the game. They are all chasing some special weapon or piece of armor. They do the same raids and strikes and nightfalls over and over again hoping to land it. When I asked myself what the end game was that's when I stopped playing. What happens when you get those guns? Do the same boring *** raids and strikes with them? Play the same 4 PVP maps with them over and over again? Wait for another $20 DLC that will probably just cram a handful of missions, 1 strike and 1 raid into existing maps?

But there is enough good about Destiny that it leaves me wanting a much better version of the game. I hope that Destiny can do what the Assassins Creed series did. Take a very repetitive game that had loads of promise and fix the stuff that everyone hated.

Actually, I'm not quite so sure I'm addicted to the RNG loot system and who doesn't love loot but the RNG in this game can be painful. I really like the game play, kinda reminds me of Anarchy Online & Mass Effect then again those two games were the only two sci-fi FPS RPG I ever enjoyed playing.

I really hope their 10 year plan is good one but since I like the game so far, I'll give them the benefit of the doubt. IF they continue to improve, I can see myself playing this game on and off for 10 years like I did with WoW.

I can see why people get bored so fast and hopefully I don't get there also. TBH, I'm not sure if I'll ever get a chance to raid or not since LFG sucks and don't have many friends yet.

I'll say. Bungie sure is doing a terrible job of keeping people hooked on this game. For a game whose biggest weakness is content, to have an expansion with limited CONTENT is baffling. I did hear something about a "zombie/horde" mode type of thing which might be interesting.

I'm leaning more towards giving the expansion a shot. Sounds like Prison of Elders is going to be a horde mode type co-op so I'm into that and would probably prefer it to a raid anyway. Not a big fan of puzzle aspects to them. Maybe it's just me but for my first person shooters I just want to shoot stuff. I like that they have hard to beat bosses, but I don't like having to dick around to make them killable.

I am really enjoying the HoW expansion. The 4 story missions were very entertaining. I really like Prison of Elders. I have yet to attempt the level 35 prison, but I have beat levels 28, 32 and 34. Getting your character to level 34 takes a week. Upgrading exotics is as easy as using an exotic shard. You can now make any piece of legendary or raid armor max light level, so you can rock the Vault of Glass armor set and be a level 34. It will take time to do that however. But I love that not every level 34 will be wearing the same Crota raid gear.

For you PvP players, The Trials of Osiris is a decent challenge. I got my *** handed to me. Each game/match consists of individual rounds of 3 on 3. The game type is elimination. The only way you can respawn is if a teammate revives you. The team that eliminates all members of the opposing team wins the round. The first team to win 5 rounds wins the game/match. You would then get matchmade with a new opponent. To enter the Trials of Osiris, you must purchase a Trials pass for 500 glimmer. The pass has two rows of punch holes: 9 on the top representing wins and 3 on the bottom representing losses. To get gear, you must achieve 5 wins before you record 3 losses. 3 Losses ends the ticket. The more wins after 5, the better the rewards. The ultimate reward comes for a perfect 9 wins, 0 losses ticket. That unlocks a special social space on Mercury plus a bunch of awesome gear.

What makes the Trials so difficult is that level advantages are enabled. This means that if you aren't level 34, you will be at a disadvantage. Everyone I ran into was level 34. Most had the ToO reward guns as well. You see, many of the players that made successful 9-0 runs will replay the Trials to foil other 9-0 attempts. If you run into one of these teams, and you will, it's game over. These are hardcore PvP players looking to flex their virtual muscles. In my first and only Trials pass, my team and I did not win a single match. In fact I think we only won 2 rounds out of the 17 rounds that we played. We went 0-5, 2-5, 0-5 for our 3 losses. Yikes!

This expansion is definitely better than Crota's end. Speaking of Crota's end, once you hit level 34 you can whoop the dog snot out of Crota. We ran through hard mode Crota in less than 30 minutes. Our level 34 sword swinger took out Crota in 2 swords. It was so easy (not that it was terribly hard as a level 32).

Oh - here is how you can get to level 34 from a level 32. Step 1: Use an exotic shard on one piece of exotic armor. I suggest a helm. You are now lvl 32.5. Step 2. Beat the level 32 Prison of Elders. This isn't too hard (I can sherpa anyone that wants help). The reward for beating level 32 is an item called an armor core (you can only get one per character per week) There is a new vender back in the Reef that will exchange your armor core for a new piece of max light legendary armor. Last week it was gauntlets. This week it is a chest piece. So do the exchange for the chest piece and you are now a level 33. Congrats! The next step is to beat the level 34 Prison of Elders. Last week's level 34 boss was very beatable with competent level 33 players. This week's is much harder but it can be done with a defender titan using weapons of light and 3 maxed (365 damage) Gjallarhorns (use an exotic shard to max your old Gjallarhorn). If anyone is interested in the exact strategy, let me know. Anyway, the reward for beating the level 34 Prison is a weapon core AND something called Etheric Light. Etheric light will upgrade any piece of legendary armor to max light level. The weapon core can be exchanged for a new House of Wolves weapon, which are nothing special. Hold onto the weapon core and use the Etheric light on your gauntlets (if you want to try for level 34 without waiting for the reset, hold onto the etheric light!!!). You are now a level 33.5 and all in one day. The final step involves waiting for the weekly reset OR a little bit of RNG luck.

If you decide to wait for the reset, simply run the level 32 Prison of Elders as lvl 33.5 (much easier) and receive your armor core. The vendor will be selling a new piece of armor, which will hopefully be boots. Buy that and you will be a level 34 with your upgraded exotic helm, Prison of Elders chest and boots, and your ascended (that's what they call armor that has had etheric light used it) gauntlets. The path I used for my Warlock was as follows: Exotic shard used on Obsidian Mind helm. Beat level 32 PoE and bought week 1 PoE gauntlets. Wait a week. Beat level 32 PoE and bought week 2 (current week) PoE chest piece. Beat level 34 PoE and used etheric light on my Vault of Glass raid boots. Level 34!

To try for level 34 without waiting for the weekly reset, you need to load up an alternate character and beat the level 32 PoE. This will grant you another armor core. Transfer the armor core over to your main, who has a weapon core in inventory. Once you do that, you will visit the vender (Variks) in the Reef and exchange the armor AND weapon cores for a PoE RNG package. This will either turn into a PoE weapon (boo) or a piece of PoE armor. If it turns into a boots or gauntlets, you would use your etheric light on the piece you didn't get and you would be a level 34 with exotic helmet, PoE chest, and either PoE gauntlets and upgraded boots or PoE boots and upgraded gauntlets. If you get the helmet, you would need to use an exotic shard on existing exotic gauntlets or boots. You would then use the etheric light on the exotic you didn't upgrade. So your level 34 loadout would be PoE helmet, PoE chest and either exotic gauntlets and updraded boots or upgraded gauntlets and exotic boots (which won't fly for a warlock since there aren't exotic boots for one). If you end up rolling the chest piece, you are screwed. Wait for reset.

Lastly, it's worth noting that the Speaker can now convert many things. The final conversion is the old ascendent shards to motes of light OR glimmer and radiant shards to motes of light OR glimmer. You can also converts ascendant energy to ascendant shards, ascendant shards to ascendant energy, radiant energy to radiant shards, and radiant shards to ascendant energy.

Yea, adding the ascend perk is great. It saves all my old exotics, though I had already re-rolled some of them back when Crota's End came out. But now I can make Fatebringer max level without re-gaining all that experience and consumable material.

I just started playing a little bit again after a long layoff. Can you now upgrade Fatebringer higher than its original limit of 300? I have some untouched weaps that I started to upgrade but it still seems they max out at 300
