Lol. I don't know if Marion is a better defender. He may be but Odom is also a VERY good defender who can guard multiple positions. Odom is also very talented but may not have the abilities of Marion. The thing about Odom that I like more than Marion is his rebounding. They put up the same numbers but Odom can sometimes get up to 18 boards in one game.

I think Odom is underrated by many. The guy possesses a good skill set. The age isn't far apart but it plays a big factor in this. Why? Because Odom won't want a large contract like Marion and would likely stick till 2010. Marion would be thirty and he will likely be looking for a deal that would pay him 11-12 million a year over a four year span and I wouldn't want to be paying Marion 11 million a year at the age of 33 or 34.

    Speaking of Marion:

The Heat have inquired about Kings Forward Ron Artest. Artest asked to be traded out of Sacramento after a decision of not opting out. The Heat have stated that they would be willing to deal Shawn Marion for Ron Artest. The only question between the trade is if the Kings can include Kenny Thomas whose contract has two years, $18 million left.(Link)

BTW..some ASSCLOWNS voted this thread down to 4 stars.

Got a suspicion it is the Tragic fans.

Just a note. there are more of us than there are of you. Revenge will be exacted when the Official Orlando Tragic March to the second round thread opens up.

Talked to my source this afternoon.

On Chalmers: "No PG ever beat us in orlando, he was the best GUARD at the summer league."

On if he will start: "Not ready, but earned alot of minutes so far."

On a possible Marion for Artest trade: "Defender/scorer, the type of player we WOULD trade marion for."

Marion/Artest doesn't happen unless it's Brad Miller coming back instead of Kenny Thomas. However, Riley would be stupid to trade for Artest at this point. If there has ever been any concerns about Michael Beasley's character, why the hell would you surround him with Ron Artest? As much as I've supported Artest (even his actions - Pistons fan deserved to be decked in the face), I wouldn't want him in the locker room with Beasley at this point.

I agree. I doubt you see Brad Miller being traded though, he's serving a 5 game suspension for violating the substance abuse policy. I doubt anyone wants to touch him right now.

First time in his career this has happened. 5 out of 82 for prob. weed, or even pain killers possibly. If you can get him you get him. He's a quality player.

Did they really think they would get Tinsley off their hands for a solid contributor like Haslem?

And he's due $7,500,000 in 2010-2011, whereas Haslem expires.

Larry Bird must not have any clue of Riley's future summer plans? We're not trading for a player with a contract that exceeds 2 years unless he's a hell of a player. Jamaal Tinsley is rump roast. 30-years old, inconsistent defender, can't stay healthy, 38% shooter, 28% from three, and he turns the ball over just as much as Wade; pass.

I tend to disagree,,,,but we all have our own opinions. I have followed Miller since he was a Bull and always been a fan. It would be amusing to see Miller and Artest traded to yet another team together. They have seemed to been a package deal through their whole careers. Miller, and Artest for Marion would be a steal, IMO. It prob. wont happen ,but..

You may be correct as you seem to have followed him longer than me. I first heard about him in Indiana. I'm a fan of his game but I have never been familiar with his character. When I made the comment that it could/may happen again, I didn't reflect it off his character. I meant it as that anything is possible.

As for the trade, I agree. I actually like Artest more than Marion despite the rebounding differentials. Artest is a son of a ***** who will do anything he can to make you frustrated on the court and I love that in him. He's a very good defender and can put up numbers offensively when asked to.

Bird has been a cancer for the Pacers from day one.....such a sad story, he is such an icon in Indiana. I thought he would be much better at this kind of thing then he is.

Supposedly, New Jersey offered the choice of Sean Williams, Josh Boone, or Marcus Williams along with expiring contracts in return for Marcus Camby. I'd love to get Sean Williams. I'd give up almost anything to acquire him aside from Wade & Beasley. Unfortunately, they don't have what it takes to salary match Marion without dealing Vince Carter, and um, no thanks on that one. I'd be willing to move Haslem, though.

Udonis Haslem ($6,575,000) for Sean Williams ($1,522,920) & Stromile Swift ($6,200,000)

    G - Banks / Chalmers / Quinn
    G - Wade / Cook
    F - Marion / Jones / Wright
    F - Beasley / Swift / Lasme
    C - Williams / Blount / Mourning / Anthony

Swift expires next summer. While he's never lived up to the potential, he can play both front court positions and he's a decent shot blocker. Can't have enough of those on this team. Sean Williams will eventually develop into one of the best shot blockers in this league. He can probably do that statistically next season if given the proper minutes. The guy is a shot blocking machine with all the potential in the world to do everything else. Looks like he's done with the weed, too. Well, at least during the season.

I'm going to make that trade when NBA 2k9 comes out for sure. :D

I think the Nuggets are crazy for not accepting Sean Williams. I know they need the cap but I doubt Williams is making much and hes a monster. Williams is one of my favorite players because of his intensity and athleticism. Also, whats up with Marcus Williams being offered in every deal that is proposed by the Nets? I heard he has constant weight issues. I'd still take him.

Weight issues, and I don't know how well he's going to run a team based on how poorly he handled the basketball in college. I liked him a lot coming out of U-Conn, and I still do. I'd love to have Williams, Williams, or Boone. All three of those guys have the potential to be starters in this league. I think Sean Williams is ready to start right now.

He wasn't that bad in college. He had a high assist average and shot decently. I thought he did well in college and I think he can be a starting PG in this league if he devotes himself to the game.

As for Sean Williams, I absolutely agree with you. The dude is sick and can guard anyone.

Stugotz said even with a healthy Wade, Marion and Beasley the Heat would be no better than the 8th best team in the East.

I fart in his general direction.

I'll pass on Carlos Boozer unless we have a defensive center on the team and Beasley has shown that he can play the 3 in this league. Boozer/Beasley front court is giving up career nights to solid bigs. I think Carlos Boozer has become pretty overrated, honestly. He's great offensively (during the regular season that is) and absolutely putrid defensively.

If we can somehow move Marion for Kaman and an expiring, I'd be all for it. But that's unlikely.
