The hits keep coming. Doesn't look like misi will play and word is McCain didn't make the trip. https://twitter.com/abramsonpbp/status/515487425259667456
Luckily no major season injuries this year, but I don't remember ever being this dinged up The coaches don't even have to think about which 7 guys to make inactive. Inactive guys are all injured
Not bizarre at all. I think that has more to do with how impressive Odrick and Mitchell have been in the first 3 games. Starks has been very good and he not being a part of the rotation will hurt.
Mitchell has probably been our best defender so far this year. That was a great signing. As for Starks, it sucks but I'm confident in the other guys who can step in. If we can win this game and get to 2-2 we are going to get much healthier before our next game in two weeks. Starks, Misi, Jones, Pouncey, Moreno. That's a a lot of talent.
I didn't think Misi would be able to make it back before the bye. McCain not going isn't a surprise, but it is still disappointing that they can't leverage a guy that excelled the first game of the season.
is that the first game he will miss in his career ? he must be really hurting if he can“t go edit: he missed 4 games with the titans, but this will be his first game as a dolphin he will miss
if we can't beat the Raiders without Starks and Misi, it doesn't really matter. the season will spiral downwards very quickly.
Cameron Wake has been our best defender this year which is no real surprise of course. He didn't actually have a BAD game against Buffalo, he just wasn't totally dynamic in the game like we're used to seeing. But he was back to himself against KC if you really look at it, and his NE game was the stuff of freaking legends. Earl Mitchell has been the strongest of the interior trio by a fair margin. That was a great call. It was one of those things that looked great on paper, the perfect call on paper really, but on the film in Houston you didn't quite see Mitchell putting it all together the way you'd want. They went with the paper potential and it paid dividends. They've got him I believe on a four year contract. Jeff Ireland hit on Randy Starks in his first year as GM, signing him to a very affordable and somewhat longer-term contract. Dennis Hickey seems to have repeated that feat. I personally don't believe that Odrick has outperformed Starks. Right now Starks is pressuring the QB every 8 pass rush snaps which is just insane for a DT. Only Kyle Williams of the Bills is doing better than that.
Not having Starks sucks, but hopefully its short term and he'll be better after the bye. At least its at our deepest position on the team, and against one of the worst offenses in the league.
Misi reaggravated his injury in practice (I think his ankle). McCain I'm not sure, he was battling an illness a few weeks ago. Maybe he still is?
I wonder if the staff has been telling dion Jordan to bulk up to an even 300 so he can get some reps at d-tackle.?
DJ, I stumbled on a PowerPoint from the Ravens defense when Rex Ryan was the coordinator there. Let me just say, to borrow from you, you'd be "in that a$$" if you saw the things that defense would allow Dion Jordan to do. 3-4 base, but with LOTS of multiple looks stemming off it. Jordan could play OLB, just as he did at Oregon, and there's potential to move him formationally, schematically, and based on matchups depending on how you cover certain players. Going to try and get an article from it up soon.
Rex Ryan would turn this defense into a bunch of crazed wolves..we need a coach and personality like Rex
